How hard is it to get an AP Rate?

One of the major reasons I bought an AP was for the room discount alone! I am having mini panic attacks about not getting an AP rate for my trip in September!
I currently have a room-only reservation at Coronado Springs for September 10-17. Hopefully when the AP rates come out for that time period (I understand it's around the first week of August) I can switch to an AP rate at Coronado or even better yet a DELUXE!
Now, should I take the morning off of work the day the rates come out? It just seems really competitive! Do I really have to start calling at 7AM? I am extremely new to this whole AP rate thing so any advice to put this Disney fanatic at ease would be greatly appreciated!! :wave2:
Thanks!

When the codes first come out there is a big rush that first morning. Some things sell out very quickly with code rates (not that there are no rooms available at all, just no rooms available with the code rate). Usually the standard view rooms are the first to go. On the moderates, it seems like CS is usually the first to sell out of code rates. On the deluxes, WL goes pretty fast as do standard views at all the monorail resorts. AKL is usually the last to sell out. If you call and can't get what you want, keep trying back. People cancel and make changes all the time, especially where codes are concerned. Your best bet will be to be on the phone at 7 am, but it's not like there will be absolutely nothing available later that day or the next day. You may have to be more flexible about your resort choice and room type choice if you are calling later in the day, but it's not like there is "no hope" for anyone who doesn't call at 7 am.

With each code, you never know how difficult it's going to be to get something. Last year's October was a good example...they were EXTREMELY limited for that month. Much more so than usual. September hopefully won't be bad especially after last September had hurricanes come through just about every week. I think more people will shy away from September this year because of that.

Your other option is to work with a Disney specialist travel agent who will take care of those changes for you. You can even tell them "if the code rate for ___ (insert your deluxe choice here) is less than $____ then I want to be switched there." and they will take care of it automatically for you.

Last year was the first year in a while that they did offer AP rates in September. In 2003 September didn't get any codes so that itself makes me wonder.

Also it depends on the resort. Like the previous poster said some of the deluxes sell out fast.

As long as you are flexible with room types and resorts you should be fine.

If you have your heart set on a particular room type at a Deluxe you may not get your first choice.

We've been lucky and gotten AP rates whenever we tried. Now, with that said we are also very flexible with resorts and dates (except for our honeymoon....those dates were not changing).....we had orignally planned to spend our honeymoon at GF and YC but no AP rates came out for YC concierge so we switched to GF/Poly/WL....wound up being awesome....for the trip we have planned in June, we were flexible with dates and resorts...we were prepared to go whenever and wherever the best deal was.....turns out we got our first choice with dates and resort.....my advice is to be as flexible as you can.....good luck :)
