We were just going over our packing list, and it occurred to us that packing tube-shaped rolls of metal in the form of quarters might make airport security a little uncomfortable. Are the change machines at ASMu reliable (that is...working often), and/or can you make change at Melody Hall? Thanks!

Packing them in a suitcase should be fine (checked luggage)

If you want your metal cash closer than the suitcase, store the coins in a clear plastic bag so the form is not so tubular. The inspector will see right away the identification. OK 2 plastic bags.

I don't brig quarters for laundry but for tolls. I put the roll right in my carryon. If TSA gets nervous they just rerun it through and maybe open the bag. No biggie. But they've never done either so I think they can figure out what it is pretty easily.

They've been more bothered by my non-iPod MP3 player than about coins.

I have taken a roll of Quarters through security twice in the roll in my purse. They just look in my purse after they see the roll and see it is Quarters and send my purse on through.

If it makes you nervous then dump them out into a baggie and put them in your purse loose in the bag.

But you can get quarters from the concierge desk of the resort.

If I am not mistaken there is also a change machine at the laundry room. At least at ASMu where we were I think I remember one that you put bills in and get Quarters out.
