How does the Universal Dining Plan work? Can I order anything?

We are used to the Disney Dining Plans so we are not sure how the Universal one works. If we get the Quickservice plan can we order anything off the menu at quick service restaurants in the park? We are only going to be at the park for one day. Is it worth the money?

More info can be found here:

https://www.universalorlando.com/Restaurants/Dining-Plan-Locations.aspx

Scroll down and it shows the locations that accept it.

Pretty much any entree within those locations can be selected.

As for is it worth it? Dunno It depends on how much you eat.

Often the entries are quite large so for us we usually split with the kids and they graze items off the plate, plus get them an additional snack. Also we tend not to be a "sugary drink" family and bring our own water in/refill water bottles. So taking drinks out of the equation, we're usually buying 2 entries (or maybe even 3) @ ~$12 - $15 per entree, plus maybe a snack so for the 4 of us (2 Adults and 2 kids). So for us we find the quick service dining plan isn't worth it.

If you buy it, make sure you choose higher priced meals and snacks, or you will lose money instead of saving money.

In many cases, you can buy it at the restaurant instead of ahead of time. That way you'll be pretty sure you'll be saving money.
