We are going to WDW on March 3 for a long weekend for our 20th Anniversary and welcome back from Iraq trip. Hubby has been gone for a year so when I booked our trip I was hoping for a little romance along with WD fun! How excited was my husband when he heard from one of the guys at work it was ESPN weekend. I was wondering if anyone has been during that time? Also how sports fanatic wild and crazy are the parks? Any help or advice anyone could offer me would SO greatly be appreciated!!

I've never been during the ESPN weekend, but I hear the experience is that much more fun for a true sports fan. There will be lots going on at the Disney sporting complex, and I think you can also catch a spring training baseball game with the Atlanta Braves.

I'm sure you both will have a blast. I hear that unless you "hang out" in the designated ESPN locations, you won't really know that there is a sports weekend even going on! Be sure to hit the ESPN CLUB for a meal. You'll love it!!

Welcome home to your DH! We have been to ESPN for the last 3-4 years. And will be there again this year. It is not crazy busy. The fans are just fans. They may boo your fav but you will probably boo theirs too:rotfl: It gets a little crowed behind the TOT where they have some fan interaction and participation with athletes. The rest of the park is not crowded at all. Don't forget to keep your eyes open for athletes in the other parks! They love WDW too!:)
See you there!:cutie:

I as well have been going to ESPN The Weekend for quite some time now and have seen many athletes roaming different parks and eating breakfast with us at Chef Mickey's

I believe you'll have a blast! As stated above, you can go to the sports zone where you can play different games and activities that involve different sports. If you are going for Tower of Terror or Rock 'n' Roller Coaster I suggest getting fast passes because those are pretty busy.. And of course Toy Story Mania which is always an hour wait no matter what.

I didn't think about that -- we saw Kobe Bryant at California Adventure once and that was pretty cool -- looking forward to seeing a few more :cheer2:

ESPN weekend is March4-6. We've gone the past 2 years and while DH is watching the live shows being taped at the hat, we would go off and do other things. It wasn't crowded at all. Right in front of the hat is usually crowded when there are shows going on. It was actually pretty neat to watch them filming. You can pick up a special espn weekend brochure on Thursday and it will list everything that's going on. It doesn't really affect the other parks at all.

Thanks to everyone for the info. My Dh is a sports nut but has promised to behave for our romantic weekend ! :rotfl: I'm sure we will have fun regardless of all the sports fans!! 8 days and counting----can't wait!!!! :cool1:
