So I arrive in Paris June 11 and am checking in to Sequoia Lodge on the 12th. I need a room for one night on the 11th and am looking for a good recommendation near Disneyland Paris.

I am assuming I will take the train from the airport to DLP (good idea?) and then maybe a cab from there to a hotel?

This is our first time in Europe so the whole transportation thing is stressing me out a bit.

Can anyone offer advice?

ok, first off for transport from the airport to Disney it is much better to get the bus http://magicalshuttle.co.uk/ This company will bring you direct to your hotel.

If you are looking for a hotel before checking into Sequoia Lodge, then you should check out the village beside Disney called Val d'Europe. This is where the partner / good neighbour hotels are located.

Magic Shuttle has a route which goes to hotels in Val d'Europe http://magicalshuttle.co.uk/timetables-prices/horaires-navettes-cdg-val-deurope-selected/ The hotels also have shuttle transport to Disney.

The hotels on this route are

http://www.disneylandparis.kyriad.fr/en
http://www.vi-hotels.com/en/magic-circus
http://www.vi-hotels.com/en/dream-castle
http://www.explorershotels.com/en/

I am doing the opposite of you, I have booked http://www.hotelelysee.com/en/ for the night after staying in Hotel New York / Disney so that I can spend my last in the park and then I fly home the next day.

This would be my plan of action for you

Arrive Charles de Gaulle June 11

Get Magicshuttle to hotel in Val d'Europe
Relax, go to the shopping centre, have evening meal
June 12
As you are staying at Sequoia Lodge, you have access to Extra Magic Hours 8am to 10am
Get the first shuttle from your hotel in Val d'Europe to Disney (train station area)
Get the Sequoia Lodge shuttle bus from the train station area
Check in to Sequoia Lodge - you will get your park tickets and breakfast timeslots but more than likely your room wont be ready. Leave your luggage in Sequoia Lodge luggage store and head straight across to the park to get in during EMH

The Ibis in Val d'Europe is good value for money and a nice hotel. It's located opposite the RER station and only 5 mins away from DLP on the RER A line train.

I second the Ibis in Val d'Europe recommendation. It's a very simple hotel but clean and comfortable and the main advantage is you can take the train to Disney rather than expensive taxis or rely on busses that might not have the most convenient schedule. The train runs very frequently and it's only one stop to the Disneyland station. I believe last time it cost around 3 Euros per person and takes around 3 minutes.

If you decide to stay in Val d'Europe you can either take the high speed train from the CDG airport to Disneyland and then take the local train 1 stop back to Val D'Europe or you can take the "Magic Shuttle" from the aiport to drop you off in Val d'Europe directly. The train is a little faster but the bus would be easier, especially if you have luggage. Then from Val d'Europe just take the train to Disney.

Val d'Europe has good shopping and dining options, too.

How many people in your party? Adults or children?

There are 4 partner hotels very close to DLP which are served by a shuttle bus and where you can sometimes get good deals. - Explorers, Kyriad, Magic Circus and Dream castle. Kyriad and Explorers tend to be the cheapest. Have a look at Expedia or book direct rather than with DLP as then it shouldn't include tickets which you won't need.
These 4 hotels are not at Val d'Europe as stated above.

As well as these there are several other cheaper hotels near Val d'Europe, Bussy St George. Again google expedia - some are very very basic and budget and some are good enough for a longer stay if needed. Ive never stayed at any there but Im sure other posters will give you suggestions - they are one or 2 stops away from DLP on the RER (Commuter train)

As for getting from the airport you could get the TGV (High speed train ), arrange a private shuttle, get the Magic Shuttle or get the RER (commuter train).
The RER is the cheapest but the slowest and you will have to change trains in central Paris (same station- different line)
The TGV is the fastest but you have to get from your terminal at the airport to the station (there are shuttles) and then get from the station at DLP to your hotel.
A private shuttle often works out the easiest and depending how many of you there are it can often be the same price - it will take approx an hour but will collect you at your terminal and drop you at your hotel so no messing around with shuttle buses or cabs.
Most people recommend and use either RS Transports or Ezyshuttle.

This thread from the useful info sticky will give you more info about getting from the airport

Thank you for the responses. I will be traveling with a party of five. My wife and I, 18 yr old daughter and twin 13 yr old boys.

We go in March and arrive at 3-4pm on the Sunday. That night we got a good deal for the Santa Fe (£100) and will then check into the Disneyland Hotel early on the Monday so we get our park tickets etc.

I thought for £100 it was good to travel a day earlier so we get a full first day on the Monday.

I could have stayed offsite for £40 but I like that it's walking distance to the village and they'll transfer our luggage for us on the Monday so all we need to do is walk to our second hotel.
