Horrible CM at POTC

I dont post often and really dont get involved in the "snarky"threads but felt the need to open my big mouth on this one. Her family wasnt put thru anything. Its a ride at Disney World that she choose not to ride. As for compassion , "happiest place on earth" stuff. well exactly. Did it really require going to find a manager and getting upset? If 4 people is what they are suppossed to put in a row then the CM was following the rules. That doesnt make him Horrible. My daughters and I (4 adult/teen sized) were put into 1 row on the Mexican ride and we were a little crowded I asked if we could go in 2 rows the CM said 'umm were supposed to put you all in one row". Im sorry, I think this is one of those moments in life where you should have just shrugged, smiled, and kept on with your day.

Flame Away

No flames. Flames are exactly what I'm speaking against. I just feel people shouldn't be so quick to judge others and their situations.

I think I'm missing something.

Rather than leaving the ride, wouldn't a simpler solution have been to do as instructed and then when you don't all fit on one row you could point this out to the CMs and be accommodated appropriately? This way you prove that four people don't always fit and you're not forced to miss the attraction.

Again, maybe there's more to the situation than I'm understanding, but this sounds like an overly-dramatic solution to a relatively simple problem.

I think I would have been overly dramatic standing half in the boat and out and showed them I couldn't sit down. That would hold up the ride for everyone. Really???

At least you would have gotten to enjoy the ride with your family.

I mean, if you look at the beginning of this video, the mom, dad and two little girls in the boat ahead of the camera person do look a little tight, so I can't imagine 4 adults in a row! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzPus1Iuga0

That said, I wouldn't have gotten angry. If I knew we weren't going to fit into one row right off the bat, I would have said party of 2, and let the boys say they were a party of 2. :confused3

That CM was putting separate parties of two together on the ride- I heard him tell the parties behind us. wouldn't have worked with him!:confused3

We just came back from a wonderful trip to WDW!! We are AP holders and visit often- and have never had this happen before, but I wanted to share this here. My family includes me, DH, DS 18 and DS 15. Four adult sized people. My sons are tall and thin, DH and I are not petite, but not too large either. We do not fit well in one row on the boat rides. I always tell the CM that we are a party of four, but do not fit in one row. They always nicely give us two rows. We entered POTC at 11:00 pm on 1/14. There was no line. We walked right up to the boarding CM. He refused to give us two rows. He yelled you will all fit! I told him twice we couldn't. He wouldn't budge and walked away. I sent my DH and 2 DS's on and left the ride. I found a manager as by now I was embarrassed and almost in tears. She escorted us to the ride and gave us two rows. I'm so worried we will have this happen again. She said it is their policy to put four in a row! But they should listen to the guests. So for others out there, beware! :confused3

This sounds like the typical Dis-entitlement syndrome ("We didn't get towel animals" "We wore buttons and nobody wished us a Happy Whatever-day", etc.).

If you can fit into one row (you said , "We do not fit well in one row" then changed your tune to, "but do not fit in one row") and the CM directs you into one row, then you sit in one row. If you are as you describe ("My sons are tall and thin, DH and I are not petite, but not too large either") then you will fit in one row.

It sounds to me like you didn't get your way and didn't like that. Complaining about a minor inconvenience to the CM's supervisor?? Not cool at all.

ITA! But obviously, some here take pride in being judgmental. I was just trying to give a heads up to others in a similar situation. Geesh!! Some posters make me feel worse than that CM- thanks alot you nasty folks! Luckily, there are alot of nice posters who I will be thankful for!:):)

We don't fit- period!! I think I'd like to breathe while on the ride. It's not entitlement- it's reality! Take apart every word of mine- really?? I guess you're the one who feels entitled tio judge me?

That just seems so strange. I mean, I've been squashed in with strangers before, but only when the parks have been crazy busy. Usually when it is slow the CMs have a "whatever" kind of attitude. They let you sit wherever you want.

Maybe they realized he was grouchy and that is why he was gone when you went back. He was late for his nap.

I've noticed this word getting thrown around a lot...and I don't like it.

Also, comparing not fitting onto a ride doesn't really equate to not getting a towel animal.

If you knew you would be uncomfortable sitting through a ride and knew that breaking up your party would remedy that situation wouldn't you ask for that?

I'd much rather go on vacation and be comfortable than miserably uncomfortable.

:lmao: I like that! Maybe!

I agree!! :thumbsup2

I remember getting in at POTC with a lot of adults - not sure if there were 4 of us in our row or not - but by the end of the ride - at the last curve, before you see Cap'n Jack in the Treasure Room -

we got stuck.

Bottomed out.

Yep, not moving - and again, none of us were "obese" just a boat filled with adults! The CM came out and told us to start rocking back and forth as he pushed his foot on the boat! :rotfl2:

Since that time, I dont ever remember being crammed into POTC boats!

The deal is there was no line at the POTC. So they should have had at least 2 rows for them. I mean come on! You want to be comfy riding the boat. The CM should be ashamed of himself. Sheesh!!
