Help me understand Disneyshopping.com pins

Help me to understand how I missed this pin of Tinkerbell. Apparently, it was sold on "Disney Direct" and was sold out in hours on 02/18/2008. I would have noticed this pin in the Upcoming Pins section, as I had a Disney vacation planned for that date. And I studied the site pretty carefully, printing out the new pins I wanted to attempt to purchase while in Florida. Does Disney sometimes sell "unadvertised" pins to the lucky few who happen to be perusing the site at that time?

They do "surprise" releases in the parks, which are just announced the day of the release. I am not familiar with the term "Disney Direct". I would have to look on PinPics to see exactly what it says.

The pins released in the parks are different than the pins on Disney Shopping. It appears that this one was a Disney Shopping pin, which would have only been available through the website. The "upcoming pins" on www.odpt.com are the pins coming out in the parks, not on Disney Shopping. I know there is a thread on Dizpins where they list upcoming Disney Shopping releases. Hope that helps!

Yes, that does help some. I did not realize that the Official Pin Trading site http://www.odpt.com referred to pins sold at the parks only and not at the Disney Store. Looking at the DizPins site, I discovered the Soda Fountain http://www.disneysodafountain.com which is apparently a brick-and-mortar store in California, and it sells its own line of exclusive LE pins, but not via an online store (yet).

The DizPins site http://www.dizpins.com has a nice listing of upcoming pins for the parks, but I could not find the listing for upcoming pins available through the Disney Shopping website. Well, I found a "sneak peek" thread on the DizPINformation board, but it only shows a picture of forthcoming pins, but no other information. They get these sneak-peek images through a simple hack of the DisneyShopping website. Based upon this, then, I take it that there is no official preview of DisneyShopping pins, is that right? And thus all DisneyShopping offerings are "surprise" pins, in effect.

I've been told they occassionally send e-mail announcements about upcoming pins to people who signed up for the newsletter. I say "I've been told" because I am signed up for the newsletter (have been for months) and have never received something like that. :confused3

There's no official preview, that's right. But I wouldn't call the Disneyshopping pins "surprise pins". New pins are released every Monday. So you know to expect something, but not what to expect exactly. ;)

Since the good pins, such as the car hop Tink above, seem to be sold out within hours, WHAT TIME on Monday are they available?

The sneak peek thread is the one I knew of. I don't buy a lot of pins through Disney Shopping unless they are just traders, so I don't keep track of their new pins very well.

I would venture to guess that the Dizpins crowd might be able to answer your question better. Did you post over there?

Some of those soda fountain pins are VERY cool. Of course I don't have any of those.:rotfl2:

Very early on Monday.

I couldn't figure out an official time frame yet, but the new pins always show up Monday before noon my time. I'm in Germany and we're 6 hours in advance of East Coast time. (Means Monday at noon for me is 6 AM Monday morning for you.)

Hey there!

The pins seem to come out on Disneyshopping.com around 2am Central time on Monday mornings. It's usually between 2 and 2:15 sometimes they run a little later.

I stayed up until 1:00AM (New York time) on Monday and they had not yet been updated. Then I needed to go to bed. I can't stay up until 3:15AM no matter how nice the forthcoming pins may seem. Thanks for the info.
