Lori welcome to the boards. First when are you going? Your dining reservations can be made 90 days in advance. Are you going with children? Do you want to do character meals?

Welcome to the boards! I am new as well, and there is TONS of great opinions and useful info here!

For the dinner stuff, I would try in the Restaurants forum and post up a quick question.

Thanks for the warm welcome, we are to arrive late on Sunday June 14th, and we're leaving June 20th, so we will have 5 full funfilled days, and on one of them, I will be celebrating my 42cd birthday, so I decided that I would like to treat myself to a Mickey Mouse cake. I'm trying to plan which park to start at and then make reservations accordingly. Any info is greatly appreciated. I'm so excited!!!

First of all, welcome! Since this will be your first WDW trip and you don't yet know the "lay of the land", I'd say it would be best to schedule two days at Magic Kingdom, a day at Epcot, a day at Animal Kingdom and a day at Hollywood Studios.

Also, make sure that you are at each park at least 15 to 30 minutes prior to park opening. June is a pretty busy time of the year so you want to be as far ahead of the rest of the crowd as you can be.

You might also want to consider scheduling Hollywood Studios in the middle of the trip because there doesn't seem to be as much walking required at HS and you'll appreciate that mid-trip.

As far as meals go, I think you'd benefit greatly by going to www.allearsnet.com. They have menus for all Disney restaurants. Once you get to their site, click on Dining and scroll down until you see current menus.
If you'd like suggestions on where to eat, post a thread over on the Disney Restaurants forum. You're sure to receive tons of suggestions. There is also a Disney Food Pictures thread. I like the fact that I can actually look at the food before deciding if that restaurant is somewhere I want to eat. It sounds like you have the basic Disney Dining Plan and, if so, you'll also get a snack per person per day. There is a thread on the Dining Plan board that has an entire list of items that are considered snack options. It is kept updated and is great for helping you plan.

To get the most bang for your buck on the dining plan, we like to use our counter service meal for lunch and our table service meal for dinner. The dinner menus usually have more on them and the food is more expensive. Also, by the time dinner time rolls around, you'll be ready to sit down to a nice meal.

Hope that this information helps you out a bit!
