Heart is breaking, rejoicing at the same time

I have posted a few times about my friend's little boy, Regen. He's 12. Last December he was diagnosed with inoperable brain tumors. After much chemo and radiation, he was tumor free at his last check at St. Jude, but had severe scarring from the treatments.

Today, on Christmas day, he is healed, whole, although not in the way we wanted.

He passed away around 3:30 this morning.

To lose a child at any time would have to be the most extreme pain a parent would face. And to lose a 12 year old on Christmas? But the pain is gone and he is whole again, just as you posted

The family and all who loved this child will be in my thoughts and prayers

How sad. I will say a prayer for Regen's family.

TC :cool1:

The stars are a little brighter tonight while the earth is a little darker. My love and thoughts go out to his family.

Prayers for Regan's family and friends. The community really rallied for him and was so hopeful for his health. I saw his story on the news this morning.
Loosing a child would be unimaginable...but at Christmas would be especially hard.

So sorry for your loss. Prayers for your friends family and you.

So sorry to hear this. :( How sad for the family. But Christmas in Heaven...what a welcome that boy had! I pray for the loving comfort of God upon that family.

I can't imagine anything more difficult... to lose a child on Christmas day. I'm wiping away tears as I sit here. God bless this grieving family.

I live in his town. The family created a miracle here in so many ways. The town became a literal 'Rootin for Regen' community. The impact of his families strength and the outpouring of love is amazing. I feel heartbroken for his two brothers who have such a long road ahead of them.

So sorry for everyone's loss. . . :grouphug:

I'm so sorry. :(

DH called me this morning to tell me the VP of his company went to the dr on Dec 23 because he wasn't feeling well. He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and died yesterday, on Christmas Day, two days after he found out. :sad1:

Oh my how sad. This is actually the second child I have heard of to die yesterday. Those poor parents.

Laney Brown, the 8 year old little girl who inspired an entire town, 10,000 carolers, to come sing Christmas carols outside her window also died on Christmas eve of Leukemia.

Prayers to both families. Perhaps Regen and Laney are playing together today, free of pain and suffering.

I can't imagine losing a child. I really can't imagine losing a child on Christmas.

For the OP. A friend of ours, who lost her young son over the summer posted this poem yesterday. Perhaps it will help your friends if they are at all religious. We are not, but still found it moving.
