Glad you got your answers. Hoping your dd has a speedy recovery! !
On a side note, my 8 yr old had undiagnosed strep last year. We were on vacation when he started urinating pure blood and brought him to an er. Long story short he was misdiagnosed with a urinary tract infection and discharged (he was really swollen and I kept pressing this issue with the er Dr who said it was because he was vomiting ). 2 days later he wasn't improving called my ped for follow up and he was diagnosed with post streptococcus glomertheritus (spelling? ?). Apparently swelling is a sign your kidneys aren't functioning right. He was hospitalized for two days and had to be treated for high blood pressure. It has been 16 months and he is still under the care of a specialist because his kidneys aren't functioning properly. I never knew strep could be this nasty.
So now that you know strep was the culprit, what are they going to do for treatment? I say this because I know people who've had very serious complications from strep: one of my coworkers had a heart attack at age 30 as it damaged the heart and my BIL got rheumatic fever and has had a pace maker and valve replacement. He was 45 when he got the pacemaker. Not to scare you, but please make sure the doctor is on top of this!
