Having hard time deciding on UK Upper or Lower -Dessert Party

Hello Everyone! :flower3:

As my subject line states I am having a hard time choosing between UK Upper and UK Lower. Are there any pros or cons for either location? It would really help if I could see photos of both locations. I will have25-30 people. What was your experience? If I recall correctly I don't have to provide transportation for my guests to get in for these locations. Thanks for all input and help. :thumbsup2

Ours was this past November and it was in the UK Lower. We had 50 people and I think this was too many people for the UK Upper (not sure about that).

With the lower you are right on the water so you are really close to the action. There are no tables in the lower so we had to pay to have tables brought in.

With the upper you are definately set back alot more then the lower. There are some tables and chairs there already so you do not have to pay to have them brought in.

The lower is definately more private. I can't remember the price of bringing in the tables and chairs but I don't think it was too much. I think the main thing you have to be concerned with is the amount of people you will be having.

Here is a photo of us on the lower.

As far as transportation goes, most of our guests were staying at POFQ. We told everyone to take the regular Epcot bus to the front of the park and to meet a CM at Guest Services and they would be walked in to our location.

My DH and I and about 6 other guests were staying at The Boardwalk. We all walked over to the International Gateway to meet a CM and be walked in.
There was no problem with this for anyone.

We had to pay $50.00 for an extra CM (I believe one CM is included in the initial cost of the Dessert Party) but this saved us a lot of money as we did not have to charter a bus for everyone.

We did charter a bus for our ceremony and reception earlier in the day as our ceremony was in Epcot at 9:00am and our reception was from 10:00 to 3:00. We figured we paid for the bus during the day (I think around $800.00) and our guests were able to get to our dessert party through Disney's transportation.

Our guests were given wristband at our reception and they used this in the evening for the Dessert Party. This way the CM knew who was supposed to be allowed into the park.

Did you have a problem with smoke? Were you very close to the Fireworks or was it more like looking across the water? Thanks.

No problem with smoke at all. The globe and the fireworks are in the middle of the lake - we were close to the action - we really felt the heat once or twice - but no smoke.

I liked UK Lower. There was a ton of room for my 34 guests. They could sit on the benches which was nice. I didn't have any problem with smoke or ashes coming at us.

Here are a few pictures.

The one pro with UK upper is that there are already chairs and seats so you don't have to pay for them but I think it's a lot smaller than lower.

The setup fee for tables and chairs at UK Lower is only $75, and it's already rolled into the venue fee they quote you. The tables at UK Upper have umbrellas that they don't close, and I was worried they would block the view, so I was glad when we were able to move to UK Lower.

For smaller dessert parties (Japan or Morroco) can you have tables and chairs brought in and how much would it be please?
What time do you meet at International Gateway to be escorted to your dessert party?
Also, would anybody be able to post menus and prices for the dessert parties at Epcot please?
Hugs

I'm so sorry. Thanks for sharing.

There is a mandatory setup fee of $75 for all locations (except UK Upper) that provides for tables and chairs. If IllumiNations is at 9pm, they will have you meet at 8pm or 8:15pm at the IG, since the DP will start at 8:30pm.

Menus are available here: http://magicalkingdoms.com/ftw/wdw/menus.html

I am having a surprise vowel renewal for my parents and we are thinking of using lower U.K. I spoke with Rev. Jack Day b/c I want to do the vowel renewal right there. My parents will think we are just going to watch the fireworks and then all the friends and family will be there to greet them.
We will have a buffet style dinner. It is quite a large area.

I don't usually post on here but I really enjoy reading all the info.....:cutie:
