Have you gotten tickets for special events, M&G, etc. and what's your quick review?

Just wondering on recent cruises (the last year or so), what event tickets have you picked up (free events that require you get a ticket in advance), and did you think they were worth it, would you recommend certain events, etc.

Also, did any folks get "special" invitations to any exclusive events--backstage tours, character M&G, etc.--that were not advertised on the Navigator? I've heard of this happening to a friend recently and wondered how often this happened.

Thanks in advance! :)

On our Norway cruise this past June I (easily) got tickets to the Anna and Elsa meet and greet as well as the princess meet and greet. My daughter LOVED them. I also got tickets to the Marvel meet and greet, but she didn't want to go.

As for "special events", my daughter got invited to a princess ceremony on our last sea day. She wore a princess dress, was escorted down the atrium stairs by a CM in a tux, given a sash by Cinderella, and announced as a DCL princess. To this day she thinks she's a real princess because of that. I have no idea how she got invited, however. There were only 7 or 8 girls!

Same exact report from us, but we were on the 14 night Panama Canal Cruise. We got the Frozen tickets, the princess tickets and the Pixar Pals tickets.

The princess ceremony was called "Tea with Ariel" but it was the same thing...a sash, princess lessons, tea party, lots of Disney Princess meet and greets, much like a character breakfast. This was by invitation. They acted like they knew nothing about a tea party when I asked about it at guest services the first day.

We also did 2 behind the scenes ticked tours: one of the galleys and one called art of the theme.

I had read about a galley tour on another report, but no one could seem to confirm that these were still happening-I think it would be so cool!

That's so cool! I love this kind of magic! We won't be sailing with any little ones this time, but fun to know that still offer special moments like that! :)

September 7th we waited about 20 minutes in line to get Anna & Elsa and the Princess Gathering tickets. Very easy and completely worth it. My girls received individual attention from each character and the actual M&G was very relaxed without waiting. Love the ticketed events!

They may only be on the longer cruises (8+ days). We were on for 15 days.

They are typically on the longer cruises. When DCL is trying to have lots of activities available. I believe you can ask at Guest Services when you board if they are going to run a galley tour. Sometimes the answer is yes, even on the 7 night cruises.

Are there still character breakfasts on the Fantasy?

Yes, it's a ticketed event. Disney Jr. characters. Pick up tickets at the Port Adventures desk on embarkation day (at least in June). EDIT: Just checked an August Navigator - Character breakfast was listed.

Just sailed on the Dream last week. By the time our bus got there, they were out of Princess Gathering tickets. From what I heard, they had Cinderella, Snow White, Belle and Rapunzel. Port Adventures folks told me I should be able to walk up and get in without a ticket. I tried. Ticket guy almost laughed. No luck. Had to waste a lot of time standing in lines for DD3 to meet princesses. The only time Snow White was available outside of the Gathering was late night, after DD was in bed so no meeting with her. :-(

We did get A&E tickets. Very little wait time and about as much interaction as any other character appearance. They had the screens in Animator's showing winter scenes and a nice winter backdrop. It was certainly better than waiting to see them in the parks,

And when I went to request tickets they said they no longer did the Disney Junior M&G. Instead They had Jake scheduled on the deck 4 balcony at 9, Doc Mc Stuffins at 9:30, and Sofia at 10. We arrived at 8:45 and were maybe 4th or 5th to see Jake. By 9 the line wrapped around to the back elevators. To see Doc we would have had to circle back and get in that same line and wait and eventually they would have pulled Jake out and brought in Doc, then wait in the same line a third time to see Sofia. Seemed like a bad plan, so we saw Jake and left. Much, much better character interaction by going to the Pirates & Princess dance party in the D lounge (non-ticketed, but very lightly-attended).

We got Anna and Elsa on our 7 day Fantasy cruise in Feb. 2015. We loved it. There were a few people looking at the 4 adults there on their own but we enjoyed not having to wait 2 hours at the parks for the photos and even bought out from shutters.
