Have you ever seen anyone get "escorted" from the park?

When I was at WDW with a youth group when I was about 14, one of our members got caught shoplifting at the Magic Shop that was on Main Street. I didn't witness it, but he was marched out and had to hang out in the parking lot until the rest of our group left for the day.

I don't really know if either situation resulted in being escorted out of the park, but I have seen Disney intervene pretty strongly twice. the first was truly awful. A man was abusing a toddler. He had him holding him off the ground by his arm and hitting him. A woman which appeared to be mom was trying to make him stop. I had made one step to look for a CM when one appeared and the entire family was quickly taken away. No clue what happened but I never pass that place in AK without thinking of that poor toddler. The second was funny. We got off off Kali and of course everyone was wet. This one man, proceeded to strip down to a pair of VERY string type underwear! He was not from America and did not speak English. I don't think he had a clue what he had done wrong. CMs came quickly and he was escorted away. Maybe just to the rest rooms.

Maybe a little off topic, but I did see Disney Emergency personnel intervene once in EPCOT. It was still early in the day, so not very busy yet in the back of the park. Apparently a guest had a heart attack or something. EMT's seemed to come from nowhere and were treating the man while other castmembers encircled the area with potted plants, and guests were roaming around the area completely oblivious that medical treatment was being performed. I was very impressed with the quick reaction by Disney.

Just once. Last November we rode Star Tours and were obviously dumped into Tattooine Traders at the end. A man dressed in full combat gear caught my attention, as did the utility belt he was wearing; it had knives of varying sizes (real or not, I don't know). A man in a suit approached him and quietly stated he needed to come with him, and as we exited the store there was a police officer waiting right outside of the doors. We were leaving the park 45 minutes later and I saw him being escorted out.
How did he get into the park with those knives? Where was he hiding them?

no I have never seen it happen, but I did see a few people in epcot that had a little too much to drink that should not have been in the park. I feel they lack security in world showcase.

I've seen two incidents. I have written before about the man with the crying little girl who got into a big argument with Crush during Turtle Talk. He was escorted out by security and I suspect they took him right out of the park.

The other was a man who was clearly drunk at 11:00 a.m. on Main Street. He was talking very loudly and slurring his words and staggering a bit. The CMs quickly escorted him away and out of the park.

Yikes! It happened to DH one time. We were trying to leave the park right before the parade. Main Street was slammed and we got separated, me with DD and him with Christian. At the time Christian was 8yrs old, very obviously mentally handicapped and was in a stroller-as-wheelchair due to his mobility issues. I managed to make it to the sidewalk, but DH & Christian were trapped in the middle by about a couple thousand people. Suddenly, DH began to feel sweaty and anxious, and next thing you know he was in a full-on panic attack! Well, that got all kinds of attention. Disney security came quickly to his aid and whisked them both out of the park so fast you wouldn't believe it.

I've seen it a few times, but mostly just drunken people at F&W or crazy tourists refusing to get off the fence or whatever.

But one time ... it was over Easter maybe early 1990s. It was hot and the park was packed and this guy was just going off on a CM because of something (never quite figured out what it was; she was at one of those ice cream carts with the dry ice and Mickey bars). The CM is just taking it, although you can tell she's starting to cry. At this point, a big beefy guy walks up and says something like, "C'mon, man ... give it a rest. Whatever you're yelling about, she can't help you until you shut up." I think the guy only heard the words "shut up", because he turned around and punched the other guy full in the face.

It was like in the movies, when the little mean guy hits the big guy and the big guy barely feels it. This big beefy guy -- who clearly wasn't even fazed by the punch -- just smiled, pushed the guy down and sat on him. Yelling guy is now screaming that he can hardly breathe, and big beefy guy says, "then conserve your oxygen and stop talking". By this time, security CMs and managers are everywhere, surrounding these two. All sorts of guests are offering witness statements, and the guy who was yelling is silent. Beefy guy stands up, other guy stands up, and the CM who was being yelled at is still standing there. Beefy guys says, "You need to apologize to this young lady." Other guy starts kicking & swearing. Two security guys and a manager physically lift him up and carry him out to riotous applause. Big beefy guy walks back down the street like it's just a normal day. Manager tells the CM to take a break and pretty much anyone in the area got a free Mickey bar.

It. was. epic.

:earsboy:

6 or 7 years ago, we were sitting waiting for a parade on Main st. and I spotted this guy drinking a Bud in a foam sleeve as he and his wife/GF and a son in a stroller walking toward the hub. The guy was not walking at that well. Suddenly *Poof*..........2 suits came up along side him , each taking a arm and he was turned to the right and disappeared with them though the gate by the wash rooms, wife, and stroller following with another escort.

Based on the wife's expression, that guy was in for it that night!

In general, the security at Disney fascinates me. Obviously, the uniformed employees at bag check are there for basic screening. I'd love to know how many plain clothes security guards are roaming the park on any given day.

It also makes me wonder how many serious plans have been thwarted that we've never heard about.

We have a friend in Disney security. Their are more cameras and people watching behind the scenes then you could beleive. Not to mention many plain clothe security, some in gardening and maintenance clothes.

In my head this entire scene plays out like the big dude is The Rock and the little dude is Rob Schneider and now my day is so much better for it.

How did he get into the park with those knives? Where was he hiding them?

If he had cargo pants they could have been in the pockets when he went through bag check. If he had a jacket on when he entered, they could have been concealed. Or they could have been strapped to his legs. Basically, as long as they weren't out in the open or in a bag, he could walk right through the gates with them.

A few years ago we were headed to Epcot when my DH realized he still had a pocket knife in his pocket. He didn't mean to bring it to the park and figured he'd just throw it away when we got off the bus rather than be "caught" with it. I told him not to worry about it -- no one would know it was there. He and the kids went through the "no bags" line while I went through the bag check with my little bag....that happened to have a clothes pin in it. The security guard questioned me for a good minute or two as to why I had a CLOTHES PIN in my bag (apparently they can be used to detonate homemade bombs). All I wanted to do was say, "See that guy over there? He's got a KNIFE in his pocket but you're detaining *me* because of a clothespin!" :rolleyes2

Can you link to this? I would love to read it.

Yeah.... US!

My son and his friend, both about 10 or so, were playing with their lanyards and comparing their pins while waiting in line for The Flying Unicorn at Islands of Adventure. One of the pins fell off and landed on the other side of the security fence. They couldn't reach the pin through the fence so one of them (not sure anymore which one) climbed over the fence to pick it up. Immediately the ride came to a screeching halt, and we (both families) were escorted out. Luckily it was at the very end of the day.

My son-in-law was stopped walking thru the no bag line earlier this year and asked to empty his pockets.
Just a random check, I guess they do that occasionally. In the many times we have walked thru no bag lines that was a first.
He had on cargo pants with a lot of pockets.

I didn't get to see the actual escort out, but just last month we witnessed a young man right after an escort.
We were waiting for the bus from DHS to the poly. It was taking forever for the bus to get there, and eventually some important looking people ended up by our bus stop. We figured maybe they were calling a bus over since we had been waiting a while. When the bus got there, they got on a radio and radioed in the bus number, which we thought was strange. Once we were on the bus this one young man started telling everybody who would listen about how he was just kicked out of the park and had his hotel room seized because he snuck a skateboard in and when a CM saw him and asked him to hold his skateboard and wait right there, he started riding around and doing skate tricks on the railings. He showed everybody the paper security had given him and told everybody there would probably be a cop waiting for him at the GF.
I wanted to stay on the bus and see what happened, but he decided to get off at the poly and monorail over to try and avoid the cops.
