Congrats on your decision.
First, you need to decide how much money you want to spend. International is more expensive than domestic.
We adopted domestically.
We knew we wanted and infant. We thought about adopting a toddler, but found out they are seldom available. This may have changed since we started the process.
I called several agencies in our stated after finding a bunch of questions to ask in a book I purchased. We decided on a local religous based agency. I just liked them better.
Since we wanted the proverbial healthy, white infant, it took 4 years of waiting after we applied. But, 2 years ago, we brought home our sweet little angel.
There are a lot of good books out there. There is also a place that sells nothing but adoption books, called Tapestry. You can find them on the internet. They are sometimes little more expensive, but I buy from them to have that resource.
Good luck on your decision!
