Has anyone ever had to be evacuated off a ride?

I'm going to Disney in December and although we have been there 4x prior, y'll have me very nervous with this thread!

We had to get evacuated off expedition Everest today. We are on the main lift hill when it stopped. We had to all climb out one at a time and then walk the track together, crossing over it at one point. Felt like a REAL expedition. We were each given 2 fast passes to use anytime and any day until 1 nov.

Same thing happened to us in Sept. Fortunately we were on the last car so didn't have too many steps to go down- those steps are steep!

We only had to wait about 10 minutes or so to be rescued. It was quite funny seeing the CMs appear from behind the landsape like they were on a hiking expedition!

Twice for me...
First time was Test Track, when it was brand new. My son and I got in line right at closing. We got about halfway through the ride, when it just stopped. We sat and sat, and then finally CM's came and escorted us off the ride. They did give us passes to ride it again, which allowed us to bring in our whole group, so our family could come back and all ride it together with no wait.

Second time, I was in DL, riding Alice in Wonderland, late in the evening alone. My dh and ds were riding something else. Once again, it stopped, I waited and waited, and then a CM came and escorted me off the ride. I don't think the lights came on on either event.

:dance3:

A few years ago we were walked off the people mover. Ours was a little different. There seemed to be a malfunction and our car slammed into the car in front of us. We waited there about 30 minutes and asked every cast member to make sure there wasn't anyone hurt. They handled it like a normal breakdown. After being escorted we received a fast pass. I did write Disney and let them know how it was handled and some suggestions on how it could have been handled differently. Being stuck there with my crying scared 6-7 year olds was not my favorite moment. Good thing was that noone was hurt, and we could see pieces of MNSSHP fireworks.

My kids got stuck on BIg Thunder Mountain on 10/30. It took about 30 minutes for them to get down. They thought it was cool to see the inside of the mountain and they got free fast passes good for any ride of their choice in MK until 10/31.

We saw BTM break down a few times while there. Splash Mountain was closed all day on 10/30. The people mover broke down and they were evacuated. We had the ride stop but continue about 5 minutes later on Haunted Mansion and Winnie the Pooh.

Yes, my two sons (17 and 14 at the time) were evacuated from Space Mountain three years ago. All the lights came on, and they had to sit in the cars for about 15-20 minutes before cast members came up to them and escorted them down the stairs to safety. In the meantime, they were snapping pics from their phones and sending them to us. They thought this was the coolest experience!

Well they must have gotten it fixed after the OP rode because we closed down Pirates on that night and it was working fine.

But yes we have been led out of the Norway ride by flashlight.

Twice on Ellen's Energy Adventure. Two years in a row. At the exact same point in the ride (at the final Jeopardy question). It didn't take too long from what I remember. I also was evacuated from The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh at Disneyland. That one took F-O-R-E-V-E-R as a CM had to come to each "beehive" and "help" everyone out. I did get some nice closeups of the inside of the ride though!

That's all I can think of. I definitely have gotten stuck on other rides, but didn't have to be evacuated from them.

Last March, we got stuck on Primeval Whirl for about 30 mins in the blazing sun before they had to have some people come escort us off. Thank goodness, we were almost at the end of the ride, but it was still a bit scary with the kids as I know the carts can spin and we had to do some acrobatics getting over the track while several feet up in the air. Got free FPs to return to the ride later on. Ummmmmmm....no thanks!

For our Labor Day trip this year, we got stuck on Splash Mountain right before the long drop. Luckily we didn't get stuck right on top of the hill, as the boat that got stuck at the top of the drop kept tipping over. During the ride, we stopped many times and got backed up with other boats. They had to pry the lap bars open and then requested us to not take photography and if we wouldn't want to be caught. They told our boat that the rock type of objects above us in the cave scene were actually made out of a soft, plushy material. The Cast members also told us to be careful as other rocks were actually hard material. While we exited the boats, one guest made a witty comment "Take photos in your mind." For the rest of the walk back to the park, all I could hear was "Click, click, click." After we got off the ride, we passed back stage and got to see the Celebrate A Dream Come True parade floats. We then proceeded to the ride exit, where they handed fastpasses that were good for a couple of days for any ride in the Magic Kingdom.

On our recent Halloween trip this year, we got stuck on Primeval Whirl right before the longest drop at them middle of the ride. It took them forever to evacuate the ride and we were the last ones evacuated. Since we were at the top, a Cast Member pushed a button and railings for the stairs appeared. They handed out fastpasses that were only valid for that day and Primeval Whirl. We returned later and the ride broke down again. We were handed fastpasses yet again but we just gave up. :confused3
