Has anyone done the Atlantis Waterpark on their own and booked room at Comfort Suites

If you go to Atlantis's website, there is a map with the layout of the place. Atlantis doesn't take cash at all, so you need to take a credit card for there - but you do need cash, like you said for the taxi, which is $4 pp plus a tip.

There are lockers there. We left a bag on the chair with our stuff and towels, and locked our important things into a locker. The lockers are located at the Hospitality Center. We got a small locker for $7. They have medium and large lockers too. I think the large ones were around $15....

I've been looking at the AAA web site trying to decide about booking the CS for our 12/10 cruise.

It says the price quoted is for 2 adults and additional adults are $40pp more...then there is something about $4.50 pp housekeeping fee.

Does this sound correct? Do they collect the additional fees at check in?

We are a party of 6--myself and DH (in our early 60s) and DD, DSiL, DS and friend all in their 20s.

We would need to reserve 2 rooms if everyone wanted full access. If only the "young folks" were to have the wristbands would DH and myself be able to go to the areas those with the wristbands could go to and just not use the pools and waterslides, etc.

TIA for any advise.

Donna

Thank you so much!!!!

We have a CS room booked for our Thanksgiving trip. We are so excited!!:cool1:

What do we do with our stuff?? There will be 2 adults and 2 kids. We plan to do stuff togther. No one wants to sit and hold stuff. Do we get a locker and put our shoes, towels, clothes and money in there or do we just try to find a chair and leave all of it in a chair.

Also, what about money. Can we just take a credit card to buy everything or do we need cash (I know cash for taxi/tip both ways).

One more thing.... is there a map of the resort so I can get a feel of the lay out. We don't want to hang out in one area and not realize there is stuff we could see/do but not know about it. ~ Yes, I'm a planner!

You can do either of what you have proposed. Either find a chair and leave your stuff there or get a locker. You can use your credit card or your CS room charge. You can charge food and drinks to your room account if you provide a credit card when you check in. Up to you.

This is a link to the Atlantis resort map. http://www.atlantis.com/accommodations/resortmap.aspx There is a snorkeling area (Paradise Lagoon) where you can use the snorkel gear and swim around. There is a net under the bridge to keep the big stuff out, but it is really awesome.

This map will work for Firefighter161 as well to show the distance being discussed. It is true it is about a 10 min walk from CS to the water park. Don't forget to stop at a towel hut to get your wristbands. CS is actually located in the area near the main road that leads to entrance (near where it says casino). If you follow this road down and look for the words "to Ocean Club Golf Course" CS begins where the palm tree to the left is and leads up to the little palm tree where the road turns left to Atlantis. You can follow the hallway in CS down past the main desk and come out just at the dogleg left turn. You will then follow that road up to the main entrance and go through the resort to the waterpark.

Tennessee Farm Bureau has a similar rate code. 00800606 I am a member because I used to get my health insurance through them. I don't have a membership card that I know of, though, and I've booked before using their code and never been asked for verification.

You can be a member of TN Farm Bureau no matter who you are and where you live. It's $25 a year.

We stayed at Comfort Suites for one week, and 'heard' about this from guests who did what you are suggesting.

Worked fine for them.

Some of you may be interested in 'why' Comfort Suites has an 'in' with Atlantis. A manager told me that when Merv Griffin wanted to develop his casino (late 70's) he needed some land or favour from the adjoining owner, Comfort Suites.

They worked out the land deal, and folks who stay at Comfort Suites have benefited ever since.

Actually a neat place to stay and enjoy Atlantis with your family.

Atlantis doe not take 'cash' for beer, water , etc. poolside.

We had to check everything to our Comfort suite card.

I suppose if you brought all that you need with you, no problem... however, those of you doing the check in / check out may have a problem.

(I'd take all I could with me).

Two more questions:
This thread answered almost everything I needed to know about Atlantis and how to book CS.
However, how long does it take to get a taxi and return to the ship? Obviously, no one wants to miss the boat!
Also, has anyone seen any great rates for January 2010? The best I can find is $265!

Atlantis is HOOGE. Whenever we went we had walked around the place for about 30 minutes EASILY before deciding on "our spot" and putting our things down. There are entrances & exits all over the place so we knew we did not want to go back the way we came. We checked in & checked out of the CS in the morning so there was no need to go back that way. I just asked someone who worked at Atlantis which way to the closest exit / lobby. There was a taxi stand right outside & we basically just just got in line to wait our turn. It is only a 10-15 min. ride in the taxi but so you just need to allow yourself time for the taxi & to pack up & walk out (say another 15 min. for that). To be safe I would say just leave an hour before your onboard time. That way you should be covered if the walk out takes longer than you think it will or if the line for the taxi stand is long or if there's traffic or whatever.

As far as the rate for CS all I can say is to check it frequently. I had booked it at a ridiculously high rate for summer '08 and it eventually came down by about $100 so I rebooked at the lower rate & cancelled my orig. ressie. But I watched it & checked it often.

You will likely want to be back before dark... we got there about 10am... and left at 5pm. Did check in check out at CC and just used a credit card at Atlantis for lunch and drinks. The kids meals are HUGE... like 8 or 9 chicken nuggets.... we got two kids meals(refillable drinks) and we threw food away(was myself and my two girls age 10 and 7). Would do CS again.... about a 20 min out of your way(to checkin/checkout and find wristbands)... but to save $250 was well worth 20 min!

I appreciate the replies! I don't like surprises too much : ) It is so helpful to have all this information beforehand!
