Has anybody done this? It sounds like a lot of fun. :)

Yes, I ate there during one of the preview days. I'm not a soap opera fan, but the layout of the restaurant is really quite well done, with different areas that are designed like sets from different soaps. Unfortunately our waitress was not anything to write home about, she spoke so quickly and mumbled through all her "lines" that none of us at the table could understand her! (Actually, that became quite the joke at our table and we were amused by that!) :D

The food was okay, nothing spectacular. I'm sure they'll even out some of the rough edges though, and if you're a soap fan I'd recommend it. If not, it's definitely skippable.

Hope that helps! :)

I ate there last week, and it was Ok. Granted, I'm not a Soap Opera fan..but the 'sets' were pretty cool.

We had an Ok server, and the food was decent..though nothing fantastic.

But, we were really looking forward to the actors that mill about and interact with the guests in little soap opera 'scenes'. Nobody came into our dining area until we were just about to pay the bill.

We even asked several times during our meal if anyone would be coming around - apparently our server, while being a good waitress, wasn't the best Disney Cast Member - as she didn't make any attempt to make sure we got to see any of the soap 'stars'.

Just my $0.02 :)

We ate here last week and thought it was pretty good. You could tell the servers were a little nervous and trying to stay in character but I think they need time to iron out all the kinks. When we checked in you could request which are you wanted to sit in and we requested General Hospital and were seated in the nurses' station. If you're a fan you will love the recreation of the sets and the announcements (paging Dr. Tony Jones, Dr JOnes.) I thought it was hysterical. the menu looks like a script and has very funny descriptions. My sweeite had the roast chicken and I had the pasta both were very good.

Hi,

I'd like to know more. Can you please tell me where this restaurant is located? Can you list some menu items? and last but not least, how long has it been open?

Thanks,

The Soap Opera Cafe is directly to your right when you enter the Hollywood Backlot at DCA. It's been there since opening day.

The food is pretty much California cuisine, I guess. We had the calimari appetizer (which is pretty big for an appetizer) and a chocolate cake. Nutritious meal and very tasty. The only gripe I have is that it's pretty pricey.

Although I'm not into the soaps, we had a good time when we were there (my wife and wife's friend love the soaps and thought it was great). The actors they had walking around while you eat, were a blast and picked on most of the people in the restraunt. The food was pretty good, but pricey. My only tip is that if you have a large family that you want to bring there, either eat some of the appetizers or make the bistro your largest meal of the day.

I think the entrees were $15-$22, pasta, salmon, salads. My only beef was unlike most Disney restaurants they had the same prices at lunch, rather than the usual cheaper prices. It is fun though.
