Has a CM Ever Been Exceptionally NICE To You?

So very many times!

I will refer to our very first visit to WDW, we were both adults and never had been before. It was our second day at MK and we were looking for the famous Dole Whips. We were between Frontierland and Adventureland, right by the small Kodak kiosk outside of POTC when we started "arguing" (more like friendly ribbing), about the location of Aloha isle.

I kept insisting it was further down Adventureland, past the carpets and in front of the tree house. He kept insisting it was somewhere in Forntierland (we all know who was right here, Haha!). Suddenly in the middle of the squabble the CM manning the booth playfully sprayed DH with a misting fan. OMG I was rolling on the floor laughing :rotfl: DH too.

She said something like: "OK kids, break it up, break it up, what seems to be the problem here?"

We explained what we were arguing about and what we were looking for. She pulled a map and started this whole spiel about how to find the ever precious Dole Whips and how I was sooo right. DH playfully and not wanting to give up declared: "Well... if we haaad gone my way we could have always cut through here or here and gotten there anyway"

The CM grabbed a pen and asked him to open his hand saying: "You sir, deserve a prize for that answer!"

And wrote: "Dork of the day" on DH's hand. OMG the three of us were just laughing our heads off. :rotfl2:

I only wish that I had thought of taking a photo of the award and that I knew I could actually leave a note praising the CM for such an awesome and fun experience. Really, it is still one of our favorite memories and laugh every time we think about it.

These posts are making me tear up. The Disney Magic provided by the CMs can be very powerful.

Growing up, my youngest DD wanted to be the one to provide the magic someday. Last year she spent 6 months in AK for her College Program. She said she LOVED to "give back" the magic to the children. One that was magical TO her was she saw 2 little girls dressed as princesses. She fussed all over them, had just as much fun as the girls did. She did a REALLY deep curtsy as they left. Later in the day, the family came back to see her, the parents said that their daughters requested that they find my DD. She said that she wanted to give back that magic all the time.

My DH and I have a CM moment that still tears us up. A little background, this trip was to be shared with good friends but earlier in the year the DH unexpectedly passed. He was a Disney CM and the ultimate magic maker. We went on the trip by ourselves. We were walking up to the DHS and met a young woman sweeping who saw our anniversary pins. She was wonderful, she reminded us of our good friend and how he treated guests. We spent a few minutes talking and as we left for the park, she told us to have many more Disney magic years in our marriage. Sent chills up our spines because it was something we had heard our friend say before. What we learned from him is that if you take the time to give back magic, it's funny how the magic will find you. Kind of goes with you get what you put out.

This past August we were at EMH at MK. I'd been planning on leaving before closing but DS and I got stuck in an unexpectedly long queue at Space Mountain. DH was waiting on a bench with DD(5) who had been to the BBB earlier in the day. It was nearly 1:00 AM and she was tired! A CM came up to her and asked what a princess was doing up so late. DH explained that he was waiting for us, and they got into a conversation about us being from Scotland. As the CM walked off, he handed DD a little packet of "fairy dust" (Mickey confetti) to spread around Scotland when she got home. It completely made her night.

My wife and I went to WDW the first week of Oct. We had an ADR for Le Cellier and when we checked in we had a few minutes wait. While waiting my wife had to hit the restroom. I forgot that I still had on my prescription sunglasses so there I was standing in a a dimly lit room with dark glasses on. The CMs started kidding me about being Mr. Cool and stuff like that. I had my anniversary pin on and they started asking me how long we'd been married, what the secret to a long marriage was (I said marry your best friend). One of them wanted to know how find a good man! It was a fun time.

After we were seated we struck up a conversation with our server. She was from Nova Scotia and my wife and I have been there so we talked for a good bit about her homeland. When it was time for desert, much to our surprise our server brought out two glasses of champagne and a yummy desert with a Happy Anniversary decoration on it. We were very appreciative and thanked her profusely. We also made sure to leave a generous tip!

Ooh, add us to this list! I even wrote the CM's name down so I wouldn't forget! We stayed at POR, and the lines for our bus was madness, but the lines for POFQ were virtually nonexistant. I told my crew I knew we could walk from the french quarter to riverside via a walkway along the river, so we quickly hopped the bus to POFQ. When we got off the bus, I asked the CM standing in front of the french quarter how to get to the walkway. He said no way no how was he letting anyone walk along the waterway this late at night. He called for a golf cart to escort us to our rooms! It was so sweet and unexpected, and I said to him "this, right here, is why we come here every year..."

I don't know if he was a cast member or a contractor of some kind but we will never ever forget the Balloon Master at MNSSHP. He absolutely made our night - he asked us what balloon animal we would like and I asked him to make me Jack Skellington (I was 33 at the time LOL). And he DID, it took him at least half an hour but the result was absolute genius and his patter and jokes were just fabulous. We had comments on our balloon pal all night. Totally made my night and made the party worth absolutely every penny.

We just returned from our trip today and in 8 days we encountered sooo many wonderfull CM's! Some even remembered us from days before, went out of their way to bring us over a special pin they remembered DH was looking for. I think that 99% of them are especially nice and outgoing and want to make sure your having a magical vacation. We too always try and treat them special- they deserve a magical day too!

We had a really thoughtful CM a few years ago, we stayed until closing at AK and went to wait for our offsite hotel shuttle bus to come, it never came, and we were stood in an empty massive car park, now dark, waiting, he came over to us and said he just wanted to know if we were ok, phoned the hotel and got another shuttle sent out for us, said he was just finishing his shift and didnt feel good not knowing if we would be ok
My husband was so impressed he wanted him to take some dollars to get himself a beer, he wouldnt take a thing, just said he was happy he could help us out, bless him:)

I accidentally ran over my autistic son's hand in the Epcot parking lot. I had my boys in a double stroller that had a cover for shade and couldn't see him putting his hand under the wheel.

When we got to the gate he was screaming his head off and his finger was bleeding. A wonderful CM named Anna, rushed us into a van and drove us to First Aid. She stayed with us the whole time and calmed us all down. I wrote Disney a letter about the fantastic care she gave us.

I will never forget her kindness.

On our september trip, i was collecting the toy stroy vinylmation figures. Well i got all 11 but needed the mystery chaser lots of kind castmember in HS MK and Epcot were running around , peeking in the mystery boxes etc to try and find me it AND guess what i got it :cool1: all 12 :goodvibes. The lady that had evenutally found me it was excellent did lots of chasing and running.

Just the other day we were at ABC Commissary at Hollywood Studios having lunch. After getting the two kids all squared away, my wife dumped her Coke into her lap. A cast member saw this, helped clean up, and brought us a new Coke and a new chicken sandwich (even though that wasn't touched during the spill). It is moments like that which can take a day with record heat and turn it awful, or save the day and get you through lunch and the rest of the day. Luckily it was one of those moments where the day was saved.

As a complement to the 'rude CM threads', I thought I would start one where people could post stories of CM's that were exceptionally polite or went out of their way to make your WDW trip magical. I know that there are certainly rude CM's out there (I've had to deal with one or two), but I also know that the vast majority of Disney CM's are nice & polite.

What a great thread! I love reading about everyone's Disney magic.
Thanks to the OP for starting it! We met many, many kind CMs on our trip. There is one however who stands out . . .
Here's a link to my "just back" report that tells all about a very special CM who filled our trip with magic.

Oh and if this CM happens to read this, this is for you: pirate:

DH took our youngest two DDs (3 yr old twins) today to MK, while I took our oldest DD to a couple of birthday parties. After having visited the princesses (and getting all three of the princesses to themselves, but that's another story), they were in the gift shop browsing. A CM approached them and asked them if they had been to see the princesses and fairies. DH replied that they had just visited the princesses, but weren't quite up to waiting in another line to see the fairies.

The CM told them to wait right there and she'd be right back. A few minutes later, she came and told them that she had tried to get Tinkerbell to come out for a visit, but she was very busy, since the line was so long. However, because she could not bring out Tinkerbell, the CM presented the girls with Tinkerbell and Iridessa dolls. What a generous and unexpected gift of Disney magic this CM gave to my girls today!

Our Super CM was Lisbeth, a Super Greeter on Septermber 19, 2001. This was one week after 911, and we ended up driving due to airline complications.

Our first full day in the parks, we hit Cinderellas for Breakfast (and spread some pixie dust for a grandpa and his grandaughter who were there and didnt have ADR's). At rope drop we went to Teacups, then to toontown (DS was 5). Just after exiting the ride and awalking over, Lisbeth comes over, commenting on DS's T-shirt my wife made using scanned coloring book images and a paint program for Iron ons. She then grabs his hand and says "we're off", and proceeds to act as our personal host for the next 3 and a half hours. Took us backstage to get autographs, front of line for Barnstormer and every other ride. All I could do was step back and film it. DW and I strolled along, watching her point out things he would have missed, taking him to see Ariel, all through fantasyland, then giving us an all day fastpass for the entire group before she left for lunch.

Amazing magic. Made our whole trip.

My wife is at WDW as I am typing this. She is there with some friends for a Girl's 4 day weekend out. Anyway, they went to DS today wanted ride RandRRC. I guess it went down around two. So they waited, waited, and waited. They kept going back checking if the ride was up. It never was fixed. So they started to leave. CM heard them say how disappointed they were about not getting to ride. CM asked if fast past for all for Sunday would work. They said thanks but no thanks they all had to leave tomorrow. So the CM said wait one minute. She came back and gave each of them a one day ticket. She said that all of them had a hard time not crying in front of the CM. She was crying telling me this on the phone.

However, the best for my family had to be when a CM arranged for my family to meet Brett Favre during ESPN the weekend it was just him and us.

Our story is from Disneyland, but they have some wonderful Cast Members, too!

We are APs along with both our families. We needed to have a civil ceremony before our actual wedding so my husband could get health insurance. We decided to have a super-fast, super-unobtrusive elopement in Snow White's Grotto. We bought passes for our minister and her husband to join us and eventually made our way to the Grotto to feel out a quiet moment where we wouldn't be causing trouble. Mad Hatter and Alice showed up for a photo op, and so we waited until they had no line and no one was walking through the area. We were barely a few sentences in when the Mad Hatter suddenly started shouting his objections and Alice insisted that they be invited to the "wedding." We waved them over and they installed themselves as Maid of Honor and Best Man for the three-minute ceremony, and then posed for pictures with us. It was AMAZING and totally above and beyond the call of duty.

The Cast Members at the Grand Californian were also great that day; we were randomly selected as the Celebration Family of the Day when we checked in; everyone really made us feel special. We had our elopement dinner at the Storyteller Cafe and it was one of the best dinners (food and service) I've ever had.

We've always encountered really wonderful CMs, but there are two instances that I can think of where the CM went above and beyond. The first is in 2007, my then 3yo DDs first trip to DW. We were entering POTC and one of the DDs got scared because it looked "dark and scary" (which, if you're 3 and walking into that attraction, I can totally understand). We were just about to walk out, when a nice young CM came up to us, and knelt right down to DD, explaining to her that he had been on this ride 300 times and that it wasn't scary at all and she would love it, and said that if she was scared, she could come back to find him and yell at him. That was all it took. It became one of her favorite rides that trip.

The second was a wonderful CM at the bus queue at ASMu. We were in line to catch a bus to Epcot for an early morning ADR at Akershus. It was EMH at DHS that day, so there were lots of buses going there, but none to Epcot. We asked the CM when he thought the bus would come, because we weren't fast walkers and we didn't want to be late for our ADR because it took us so long to walk from the bus to the restaurant. He got on his radio and called his supervisor, who showed up a couple of minutes later in a van, loaded us all in and took us to Epcot. It was fabulous.

On our first trip in 07 we got into the park about 30 minutes B4 our ressie time @ CRT and had to wait on the rest of our party. While waiting on everyone else we were leaning against the rope looking at Tinks treasures hoping to be able to get in and wake her up. Well the rest of our party called and said that they were about to leave their room (@ BWV) and would be headed to Castle ASAP. We are still watching for Tink’s treasures to open. I turn and look back down Main Street and guess what I see? A HERD of cattle headed for the Castle, and I am still behind a rope.:scared1: Oh no, they are going to go around the castle and get in there before we can get past the rope. DD says “daddy what do we do”? We anxiously turn and look at the treasures and finally I see someone open the doors. The CM looks at us (behind a rope) and starts waving her are (come here, come here).:cheer2: We hurdle the rope, DD & DW are half way through the door before I pick myself up off the ground and check myself for any blood or protruding bones, none, gud. No need to call the medics or get Air-Med enroute, I’ll be alright. Now look around to see if any body saw my stunt, whew, no-one laughing, that I can see anyway.:cool2: I finally catch up with them, DW “what took you so long”. “I had to secure the rope back after I went around it”.:rolleyes1 She was ok with that. The CM said she saw us standing BEHIND the rope, waiting patiently and could not let us not get in to wake up Tink. CM=gud (AWSOME):thumbsup2

We have had so many incredible CM interactions that it would be impossible to list them. Everything from a CM that was sweeping a DHS road pointing out where my DS should stand to be assured an autograph with the Red Power Ranger to a CM at Crystal Palace shielding my youngest with a napkin whenever a character came close.
