Good Books

Goodness, some good recs already - Gone Girl, Divergent, The Book Thief. Just depends on what type of story you're looking for! Other books not yet mentioned include The Scorpio Races (by Maggie Stiefvater), The Gate to Woman's Country (by Sheri S. Tepper), Pillars of the Earth (by Ken Follett), The Night Circus (by Erin Morgenstern), and Unbroken (by Laura Hillenbrand). Cuckoo's Calling was also quite good (although the ending seemed a little weak)...

All depends on what you like to read on vacation! If you only read one, I think I would recommend either The Book Thief (wonderful story, and the upcoming movie sounds like it will be Oscar-worthy) or Unbroken - both stories should be on your list of must-reads...

I'd like to second the motion for "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn. Also, "The Other Typist". Both will made into movies next year.

I've heard that Stephen King's newest book, Dr. Sleep is a great book.

Loving all the book recommendations. I also love anything by James Rollins. His Sigma series is like scientists with guns, or Indiana Jones. And you don't have to read them in order.

Stephen King's 11/22/63 is a really good read!

Also, I really love Audrey Niffenegger's The Time Traveler's Wife.

Sayhello

WOW, thanks everyone. I must say I have read and reread The Outlander Series, it will forever be my all time favorite Series. With that, i just needed something new. I am packing Kingdom Keepers about WDW after dark. More a youth series but my son is having a hard time getting it started so I was going to read it first but I wanted a grown up book also.

I will look at all the recommendations. Hubby is on board too and I think he is going with Stephen King just not sure which yet. I mentioned them to him to look up and pick.

So thank you again and I'm off to Barnes & Nobles. :thumbsup2

What is outlander series about?

Jamie and Claire.............;)

No, honestly they are the main characters but its a wonderful love story about time travel but not typical time travel. It's based out of Scotland and involves the Circles of stones. Its absolutely wonderful. The books are long but you will be so absorbed in the story you will never know. I could not put it down to even cook meals and feed my children. :coffee: You feel part of the story while reading it.

Can you tell I'm a fan!! :)

Just read Inferno by Dan Brown---liked it a lot!

Also recently finished "Jane Austen Made me Do It"-collection of short stories--fun!

Am now reading "Key to the Kingdom" great so far

And started the Revised Vault of Walt.. ok so far...

Another vote for Divergent. Also City of Bone and Cinder are wonderful. If your a Percy Jackson fan the latest just released. If you haven't read Disney After Dark it's a great read as well. This is all juvenile fiction, because I'm a 5th and 6th grade media specialist :) all are adult worthy reads.

Enjoy!!

I just finished The Love Affairs of Nathaniel P. by Adalle Waldman it was very good. I also recently read American Pastoral by Phillip Roth. I just love his writing. For a change of pace, check out Lustful Utterances by Leola McConnell. It's a real page turner!

I will be reading Big Stone Gap, again, by Adriana Trigiani. It's being filmed in Big Stone Gap right now! BSG is being overrun with stars :yay:.
