Day 4 cont.

After leaving Nemo's ride in EPCOT, we took a stroll to see what we would do next . . .

IMG_4929.jpg
IMG_4930.jpg
IMG_4933.jpg
IMG_4934.jpg
IMG_4932.jpg

We decided to be Crash-Test Dummies for GM! TEST TRACK!!!

IMG_4936.jpg
IMG_4938.jpg
IMG_4940.jpg
IMG_4937.jpg

After BARELY meeting the height requirement, we stood in line . . . and stood in line . . . an- oooh we moved a WHOLE foot! Then stood in line . . .

IMG_4942.jpg
IMG_4943.jpg

Finally I told them that I couldnt do it. That I would go over to Mexico while they waited and rode, then meet them at Sunshine Seasons for lunch. Well, they all looked at each other and decided to go with me. So we headed off to Mexico!

Hmmm . . . can't find the pics! Whoops! So I'll be brief(ish) . . . I LOVE Mexico, becasue of the jewelry. Unfortunantly, the jewelry shop that's usually on the right, is being refurbished. So they've put some of the stuff in the shop on the left. The selection is soooo SMALL! But I did manage to buy a bracelet

IMG_5444.jpg

OH! And while Kim was shopping a couple of days before, since she spent whatever was the required amount, I got the $15 watch . . .

IMG_5441.jpg

So this time, I only came away with ONE good piece of jewelry from Mexico. Hopefully when I go back later this year, they would've expanded BACK to what they used to have!

Since Norway is right next door, we did Malestrom. Of course we by-passed the movie, and on the way out, I lamented once again over how expensive the Layla perfume is. Will I ever dole out the bucks for that? Hmmm . . .

By then we were humgry, and headed over to Sunshine Seasons. It was PACKED! I had the same Turkey with Munster sandwhich, and Butterfinger cheesecake.

After we were fully fully stuffed, we used our Fast Passes for Soarin. The Fast Pass line was a bit long, but it moved.

IMG_4949.jpg
IMG_4950.jpg

After Soarin, we headed back to Test Track to see if the line was any better. Once again the line didnt move. So I told them that I would just go back to the room, and meet then tonight for dinner. I was hot, and my feet and legs were threatening to go on strike. With that, I bid my fellow DISers Adieu, and headed for the exit.

Well folks, since I didnt drive, I had to catch the bus back. Can you believe that in all that HEAT, I walked further than I had to, to the wrong stop!! UGHHH! I then spotted the correct stop when I saw the bus comming.

Soon I was on my way back to the resort . . .

IMG_4963.jpg
IMG_4960.jpg
IMG_4961.jpg

Candice really wanted to eat at Boma that night insted of Sanaa, since she was going home the next day. So I called to see if I could switch it - NO LUCK. Ughhh! I got out of my hot clothes, and called then to deliver the news. I ended up talking to klofan. When I asked what they were doing, he said, "In lne for Test Track". I cracked up - he tells jokes all the time, and is really funny! So I asked what they were REALLY doing, and he repeated himself....Huh? He said that they WERE REALLY still in line for it!!! I couldnt believe it!!! It took them over an hour to get on it! I was soooo glad I listened to my body and left!

After a too brief nap inthe room, klofan was calling to let me know that they were downstairs for out Sanaa reservation. Well that night I chose to wear my "Obama" shirt. After all, I can't wear it at work. And even if I could, I think my co-workers would kill me since they are REALLY disappointed that he won. The mood at work after the election was horrible! But I digress . . .

So tonight would finally be my chance to wear my shirt! Before I even got to the lobby, I'd gotten a thumbs-up! But when I spotted the gang, klofan said that he wished he's bought his McCain shirt! HA!

IMG_4959.jpg

On my way down, I stopped to harrass one of the CMs who told me to NOT worry about the toll I missed - that I wouldn't be charged since it was just one time. I told him that I was taking his pic, so when I got a ticket, I could tell them to send it to him!

IMG_4957.jpg

Eventually, we headed down to Sanaa. The decor is beautiful and they play music at the start of the dinner service. . .

IMG_4954.jpg
IMG_4955.jpg
IMG_4956.jpg
IMG_4958.jpg

And wouldn't know it . . . my batteries died, and my back-up batteries had NO JUICE! So have NO pics of the inside of Sanaa, nor of the food. So Candice, PLEASE post your pics and some narrative when you read this!

Here's my take on Sanaa - Good, lots of flavor, SMALL portions, HIGH prices. I would only go back for lunch - especially if I could get a seat by the window to see the Savanna. It was really cool looking at Giraffes, Zebras, etc. while we ate. But it was a bit too expensive for me, for the amount of food I got. There. I said it. The end.

Now it was time to do yet another thing I was REALLY excited about on this trip. . . .

Day 4, Part 2

After leaving Sanaa, we were going to Animal Kingdom! It was the ONLY day of my trip that AK would be open late so I could ride Expedition Everest (EE) in the dark! WOO-HOO!!!

IMG_4964.jpg
IMG_4965.jpg

IMG_4966.jpg
IMG_4969.jpg
IMG_4970.jpg

Soon we were in the park, and devising a plan. Since it wasnt dark yet, we took more pics, then headed over to get in line for the Lion King . . .

IMG_4974.jpg
IMG_4976.jpg

IMG_4975.jpg

No - I am NOT this tall!

Waiting in line for the Lion King felt like we were at Summer Camp!

IMG_4978.jpg
IMG_4977.jpg

IMG_4980.jpg
IMG_4979.jpg

IMG_4982.jpg
IMG_4983.jpg

I havent been to this show in about 3 years, but I did remember that if you sat on the top row, you could rest your back on the railing. The rest were just bleachers, like at Fantasmic. The show was really good! I really liked the guy with the fire, but wasnt able to get good shots (pssst . . . Candice . . .post yours).

The singing was REALLY good, and of course I was wondering if I could've made it through the audition process!

And here are my DARK pics . . . .

IMG_4989.jpg
IMG_4990.jpg

IMG_4991.jpg
IMG_4992.jpg

IMG_5001.jpg

After the show, Candice and Klofan rode Primeval Whirl. We were then gonna meet at Dinosaur. Well, when we went to Dino, the line was LONG! Then it took then a LONG time to ride PW. With an hour to park close, I started to panic that I wouldn't be able to ride EE. So what did I do . . . I told Antss that I was going over to EE cause I did not was to miss it. And that I would meet them later. When I got over there, the line was long. But just as I was about to go inside, they found me and got in line.

The ride was AWESOME!!! The backwards part is even MORE hideous at night, since there's NO daylight peaking through. The Yeti is a Billion times more scary, cuz you can see him VERY clearly swipe at the train!!! When we got out of line, we ran back in line with only 10mins to spare! We were able to ride a second time! While in line, I called MainStMandy, but they were already on their way back to the room. They rode EE and Kali twice, and were soaked! So I wouldn't get a chance to see them again . . .

After our second ride, we were really pumped, and enjoyed the scenic walk towards the exit. I think they need more late EMH days at AK. That park is BEAUTIFUL at night! I was really glad that it wasnt pouring rain, and that it was a great night, since we only had that ONE chance!

Soon we were on the Tram, and on our way back to our rooms.

This gave me such a laugh! I'm going to send this quote to my sister because she will love it: "Try not to have too much church on your vaca, or you might get escorted off of the premises!"

Thanks for posting that Youtube video. I'm over here tearing up from that song too, but I think the lack of coffee is preventing me from running up and down the halls of the lodge. Instead I'm downloading that album off of amazon. Hopefully it will keep me fired up all day at work.

Great! I'm glad you liked the song! I have yet to hear the whole album. I'm sure it's great! And thanks for passing my little tip to your Sister! :lmao:

How was the chick. parm.?

I love this pictorial tradition of yours! :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

The chicken was really good. I didnt order it initially, because I try not to order chicken when I go out since I can cook that at home.

Glad you like my Dino pic! At the end, I'll try to line them all up!
_______________________________________________________________

Holy Smokes! I was wayyyy behind in your trip report because you move fast girl! We went camping this weekend and I am just now catching up on all my trip reports. You guys look like soooo much fun to spend a day at Disney with. Too bad, you aren't going in August so we could meet up.

Come on, you know I gotta move fast! I hope I 'm done by early next week!
Hope you have a good time in August, and it's not 100 degrees like when I was there!
________________________________________________________________

This trip report has been murder on my waist line. I've scarfed down two bowls of cookies and cream ice cream for this session. I'm gonna need you to hurry this one up.:thumbsup2

Actually, that IS what I was thinking when I saw it! I thought it was going to be a frozen block!

YAY! I love Gmax Trip Reports! I'm still sad that I didn't get to see you... I wish my breaks would have worked out differently!!!

Random thoughts...

EE at night is the coolest!

I'll be anxious to see what Mexico has when we go, I like to pick up a few Christmas gifts while I am there.

FOTLK is my fav show at WDW. We see it every time. Did you ejoy it and what section were you in? I can totally see you with your "paws up"
:rotfl:

Great update Glenda! :thumbsup2

I don't know how you can ride EE but were afraid of Splash Mt.! The backwards part on EE makes me sick but the drop on Splash is no problem.

We had planned to do EMH at AK last Sept. but didn't end up doing it. I have on the schedule for this year though. I'm sure it's beautiful at night.

Keep going with the updates. They are terrific!

hey, glenda! i'm here. gotta play catch-up later but i wanted to go ahead and sub. can't wait to read all about it!

I really like Mexico, and if I had more room to bring things home, I have more of those Suns! I love those!

Nemo is my favorite show. I think I sat in the Elephant section.

Linda, it was easier for me to get on EE, because the drop banked to the left - it wasn't straight down like Splash. The backwards part doesnt make me sick, just a little whoosie!

I hope you're able to do EE at night - sad you only have ONE chance during the week!

Glad you're enjoying my report! I'll try to do another installment tonight.

hey, glenda! i'm here. gotta play catch-up later but i wanted to go ahead and sub. can't wait to read all about it!

Hey Gurl! Thanks for Subbing! Hopefully I'll be mostly finished when you check back in!
_______________________________________________________________

I hope everybody's enjoying their day. If you're stuck at work, then remember, there are LOTS of people who wish they were you right now! So be Thankful!

See you all tonight!

I'm busy for a few days and look at the updates! Wow! OK so where to start? Just some random thoughts:

I can never do Everest again. I won't go into huge detail but it includes, screaming, whimpering and a lot of nausea! I told Candice30 about it on her latest TR if you want to know more.

I have heard good things about Cape May. I think that's a next time place to go, then to Jelly Rolls afterwards (I hate bars but I just LOVE JR's!) I love that whole area! It's just so fun!

I love your castle shots from MK! We got some around the same angle but I think yours are better. Was the sun going down around that time? It just seems so glowy (if that's a word).

Love love love the new additions to HM. That bride just creeps me out every time. "We're DYING to have you! Make FINAL arrangements now!" Shivers!

Unfortunately with the rain and heat during our trip we never got to do BTM. :( Made me so sad.

Soarin' is the best ride Disney has ever done (well in our family it is!). I actually rode that in Disneyland before it came to WDW but I couldn't smell anything then because I had a horrible head cold. Puddy rules the pre-show!

When Obama won the election everyone at my work was the opposite - we freaked out - in a good way! We even pulled out a tv from one of the conference rooms and watched his speech from Grant Park.

The Lion King makes me cry! I cry during the movie so the show shouldn't be any different right? Those songs just blow me away every time live.

Dinosaur rules! I love it even better than the Indiana Jones ride they have at Disneyland! I lolve how Hodges from CSI is in the pre-show! I kept expecting Grissom to come around the corner and give him some snarky comment.

I gotta say you guys look like a blast to hang out with! I go with my older sister all the time and it's fun and all but it's great having others around to share the experience with ya know?

Looking forward to more!

Hi Glenda. Another great installment. Loving the pics and video!!

I have to say that I would have been right with you, exiting that long Test Track line. I have never really allowed myself to check out the jewelry in Mexico, but I did buckle and get one of the bags a couple of years ago. I have a bag "thing". Anyway, the first time I visited Norway, I found myself under the spell of Laila. I didn't get it, though, because it was so expensive and I had other goodies to buy that trip. I did end up getting it later, though. And, now, I don't love it as much as I used to. :confused3

your wish is my command....uploading sanaa photos now...hopefully i can have them posted by tonight.

btw...pete has no choice but to get over it...obama won....case closed...move on buddy!

as promised...here are some photos of our dinner at sanaa. it was a small intimate restaurant and decorated very tastefully. there were servers singing when you entered.

like glenda said...one of the best parts of the restaurant was the animals. it was amazing how they walked up to the windows and just hung out there during our meal.

IMG_1096.jpg

antss always starts with dessert so she ordered this sampler first.

IMG_1076.jpg

i couldn't wait to try the south african mojito...it was very strong and i couldn't finish it all.

IMG_1071.jpg

sorry but i can't remember what everyone had so maybe glenda and antss can help you out. pete and i had the tandori chicken which was delicious.

IMG_1078.jpg

IMG_1083.jpg

also as glenda commented, though the food was really good, it was pricey...we all agreed that we would try it again for lunch. at the time i thought how great it was that i wasn't really hungry because the portions were so small and they didn't serve any bread. the restaurant was beautiful though and we had a great server. on the way out, glenda insisted that i stop and check out the bathroom...she said it was amazing.....so i waited till everyone was out of the bathroom and grabbed some photos.

Still lovin' your TR!!!! You can never see enough of the Lion King! EMH at AK....never done that! Sounds like EE is great at night! :thumbsup2 Thanks Candice for your pics!!! Great!

Gmax lets go to A.C. !!! that is about an hour away! :car:
hmmm....sounds like an interesting idea! :rolleyes1 Please let me know the date!

Again, I wish that there was parking at the World Showcase! Walk/Running from Future World is brutal.

i will send you a PM about this. ;)

I'd gotten us great spots on Main Street to watch Spectro Magic! Kim and I got there before Antss, so I placed my bag beside me in the open spot to save her place. Well . . . A mother and her kids walked up. One of the kids sat beside my bag. Do you know the Mother told her child to MOVE my bag and slide over! I told her (nicely) that someone was sitting there! Can you believe that?

yes, i can! for some reason all manners and common sense go out the window with some people at disney world.

I always get excited when Cinderella comes by:

you got alice, too! one of my favorites. :goodvibes

While listening to the song, I swore it said, "How do you do . . . Please just show me your Ba**s". Hmm . . . Surely I was wrong, but then I heard it again! I leaned forward and asked them to listen. When they did, they SCREAMED! They had to admit that is what it sounded like! So of course, I had that playing in my head for the rest of the ride!

:rotfl2: that's hilarious! i also think that they have brer fox and brer bear in some really suggestive poses on that ride, too. next time you ride it pay attention and you'll crack up.

very cool that you got to see the storm troopers up there! i showed it to ray (my hubby) because i know there's no chance we'll ever see it ourselves since it's always in june. we don't do heat AND crowds. ain't gonna happen! so it's nice to see the videos.

It took us about 20 mins to get to the Fast Pass machines.

yep, i was right. we'll NEVER go in june!!!!! :lmao:

either that's a really bad picture or she's just not very attractive! i'm sure she would be REALLY happy to see this on the internet! :rotfl:

Soon everyone had decieded to do another of my favorites (not), The (not-so) GREAT Movie Ride!

i totally agree! i rode this once and i think it's so lame. but it's a favorite of many dissers. go figure!

I guess the Dinos were mad at me taking these pics, and decide to get revenge. Because just as we were getting close to the ride, I thought I heard something . . . I looked back and . . . .

IMG_4826.jpg
IMG_4823.jpg

WHEW! Once again, I got away! But still, we all got on DINO!!!

:rotfl2: that's great.

I then braved Splash Mountain once again. Unfortunantly, Kim still couldnt be convinced to ride it. Believe me, I've been afraid to ride it since I was a kid, so I understand her fear. But to all the ride chickens out there like me, it really is true: the drop on Splash looks AND sounds worse than it is. It's like a longer version of the drop in Pirates. I don't get that yank/drop feeling in my stomach when it goes down. So give it a try, you WON'T regret it!

i'm so proud of you that you ride this with no hestitation now! i remember the conversation we had over dinner at boma last year and erica and i were trying to convince you that the drop on EE was way worse than on splash. glad you enjoy it so much now!

The ride was AWESOME!!! The backwards part is even MORE hideous at night, since there's NO daylight peaking through. The Yeti is a Billion times more scary, cuz you can see him VERY clearly swipe at the train!!!

After our second ride, we were really pumped, and enjoyed the scenic walk towards the exit. I think they need more late EMH days at AK. That park is BEAUTIFUL at night!

i really want to go to AK at night on the next trip! and for those two reasons. i hear it's just beautiful at night and i can't wait to try EE in total darkness!
