I have read in a couple of places that it takes ages to get to Hoop de doo. we will have a car would it be easier to get the boat across? how long would that take? if there was a storm do they put on extra buses? do you guys think this is a sensible option?

We've taken a boat twice. Once from the Contemporary and once from MK. Easy to do. Then, buses to return. Don't know anything about weather issues. We've had beautiful weather both times.

Getting the boat there is very easy. The return on buses was torture.

Are you staying offsite or on? Will you be in a park that day or coming from your resort?

1. If staying onsite and coming from your resort, then you can either drive directly to Ft. Wilderness, park at the resort entrance parking lot, and take the internal bus to Pioneer Hall. Reverse the process after the show. Or you can take the resort bus to MK and the resort launch to Ft. Wilderness. After the show (2nd or 3rd show) take the bus back to your resort. If it is the first show, I believe you would have to take the launch back to MK and the resort bus from there.

2. If staying onsite and coming from a park other than MK, either take the Ft. Wilderness bus or drive to the resort. Then take the internal bus to Pioneer Hall. Reverse the process at the end of the show if driving. If you took the bus and this is the 2nd or 3rd show, then take the bus they provide back to your resort.

3. If staying offsite and coming from your resort or any park other than MK: drive to Ft. Wilderness, park and take the internal shuttle to Pioneer Hall. After the show, reverse the process. If coming from the MK: take the launch to and from Ft. Wilderness. Then the monorail or boat to the TTC.

I have read in a couple of places that it takes ages to get to Hoop de doo . . .

1) Taking-Ages is a relative term.
2) It does depend upon HOW you want to get there.
3) If driving
. . . drive to FW parking lot
. . . wait for internal bus (could be immediate or 10-15 minutes)
. . . ride bus to Settlement (about 7-10 minutes)
. . . walk to Pioneer Hall (about 3-minutes)
. . . reverse process to go home
4) If coming from MK/Epcot/GF/Poly/CR
. . . take monorail to MK
. . . walk to boat pier
. . . wait for next launch (could be immediate or 10-20 minutes)
. . . take boat to FW (about 15-minutes)
. . . walk to Pioneer Hall (about 5-minutes)
5) If coming from other resorts
. . . park at Wilderness Lodge (tell guard you are exploring the resort)
. . . walk to boat pier (about 10-minutes)
. . . wait for next boat (could be immediate or 10-15 minutes)
. . . boat to FW (about 10-minutes)
. . . walk to Pioneer Hall from pier (about 5-minutes)
6) Best way
. . . take bus from your resort to FW *
. . . wait for internal bus (could be immediate or 10-15 minutes)
. . . ride bus to Settlement (about 7-10 minutes)
. . . walk to Pioneer Hall (about 3-minutes)
. . . reverse process to go home

* Most resorts have a dedicated bus that runs AFTER 4:00pm
from the resort to Fort Wilderness just for Hoop Dee Do. Check
with your resort Concierge or CM standing at the bus stop.

going to All stars - coming from probably the Downtown Disney or ASM direction. it's our one quiet day of the week with plan for the kids to do the pirate cruise from POR and a free afternoon.

thanks for all the thoughts so far
really useful to have an idea of how long things might take I have read reviews saying 'it's a nightmare to get to' but having the knowledge helps to plan so it won't be a nightmare

If there is a storm or the lake waters are too rough then they will suspend boat services. When they do that they do not run extra bus's. You have to get the bus to the Wilderness lodge and then catch a bus there to Ft. Wilderness (which takes forever). Your best bet is to just drive there.

We were staying at POFQ. We took the bus to MK, then the boat to Fort Wilderness. It was very easy. On the way back we took a boat over to the Contemporary and then the monorail back to the MK. It took a bit to get back, but we enjoyed the boat ride and exploring the Contemporary and the kids always enjoy riding the monorail.

Definitely take the boat!! We did the bus thing and it was a gong show, as from our resort, we took a bus to MK, a bus to the resort, and then had to wait even longer for another bus across to Pioneer Hall

If you take a boat straight to the resort, it drops you off pretty much right at Pioneer Hall
