Getting "stuck" on rides: 3 times, in 2 days!

In my experience, Spaceship Earth has been prone to getting stuck. In fact, I can't recall a time that I've been on it and it hasn't stopped for at least a few minutes.

My DH and I are here now!:) We are having an AMAZING time! Everything I hoped for! Weather is amazing and we have literally walked onto almost every ride! The longest we've waited was 10 minutes for Winnie the Pooh. Everything else has been 5 minutes or walk right on. I'm hoping the rest of the week is the same!

My DH and I have both never been stuck on a ride, but it's happend to us three times in two days!

Firstly, on Pirates we got stuck in the part where there are "wenches for brides" for about 20 minutes. Needless to say the dialouge gets annoying hearing it over and over again.

Then yesterday we got stuck on Test Track for about 20 minutes in the "corrosion room" and then on the part that twists and turns for another 10 minutes. When we returned to unload they let us go around again though to experience the ride properly.

FInally, in the late afternoon we got stuck on Spaceship earth. Right at the top before you go into the outer space part. It was nice and dark so I tried to have a little nap. ;) After about 40 minutes, a CM came on the speaker to say that we were being evacuated and to wait for someone to come get us. Finally we were lead down the fire exit...18 stories or so! We were right at the top. It was interesting to see behind the scenes and the ceiling of the ball.

My DH and I take things lightly and did not care. Some people got so cranky!! Does anyone else have any experiences like this? We thought it was bizarre that we've been stuck 3 times in 2 days!!

Got stuck on SE once myself. Miserable experience -- and a long walk down!

As an engineer I LOVE getting 'stuck' on rides. No need to worry about the 'safety' issue: the eventuality of getting stuck and having to evacuate guests is planned for. I enjoy seeing the rides with the lights on, the stairwells, all that.

My 'grail' is a roll-back on Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. It's a launch coaster, and a roll-back is when the launch isn't sufficient to get the coaster train over the 400 ft hill and the train rolls back into the station. :cool1: I know most people would totally freak over that, but I always wish for it.

Oh my stars. :faint: I think I'd have to be carried out on a stretcher if that happened to me. :rotfl:

Just got back last night. We got stuck on HM twice - once just as you are passing the mirrors where you see the hitch hiking ghosts, and once right near the exit, with the bride on top of the wall, saying "hurry baaaaack"....she's creepy, but I got some good pictures I wouldn't have gotten otherwise!

Also...got stuck on Space Mountain. They were doing test mode while we were there on Saturday. One track was completely stopped...ours continued on...completely with the lights on the WHOLE way. SCARY to see where you are going in there. I was in the front seat, too! We got stuck about 15 feet from the unloading area...and the cm's had to manually let us out.

Why does it take so long for the CMs to evacuate sometimes? I get that things go wrong, but why leave people stuck on a ride for 40 minutes.

Continuous loaders such as HM or Spaceship Earth stop frequently to allow disabled guests to get in or out, so that's not really a ride breakdown.

We didn't get stuck on anything in September, other than Spaceship Earth for just a couple of minutes, but it did make me nervous because that smoky volcano smell that they pump in does make it hard for me to breathe. I can actually start having a panic attack, which is even worse. Once I got stopped in the cold room at Test Track and I really felt bad for the hot room people, but again it was a fairly brief stop.

With my luck I''ll convince DD 4 to go in the haunted mansion only to have it break down during the scariest part! :eek:Oh that would suck!

My 6 year old son and I were stuck on Expedition Everest last week. We got to where the track is "ripped" apart, and sat...and sat...waiting to go backwards. After about 15 minutes of sitting at the top of the mountain , the ride jerked FORWARD! I will say, my heart dropped to my toes. Then we went backwards and finished the ride. When we got off the CMs gave everyone a fast pass:cool1:

I think we would be shocked if we made it through a full day at any of the parks without something breaking down! We've just come to expect it.

Two notable occasions though - IASW - really, there's nothing to say except "pure torture"! I think we sat there for about 15 minutes, moved a little, sat for another 10 minutes or so, moved a little, ....you get the picture. And all the while, two little girls behind us from England, going "Oh Mummy, isn't this lovely?!" and signing along. arrrggggghhhhhh!

And perhaps the only time I was really scared - we stopped about 10 feet from the top of Splash. So the angle was not very comfortable after just a few minutes. I had no idea how they'd get us out of there if we had to evacuate, but fortunately, they got it going after about 10 minutes.

LOL...I'm sorry...I couldn't help but laugh. I think I would have DIED if it had moved forward at that part of the ride! I think you should have got a fast pass that was good for the whole day after that one!

We were stopped on Spaceship Earth for a good 20 minutes right before you go backwards. My son isn't good with waiting but he did really good and just kept saying "we're stuck" over and over (he's 3). I'm really glad we were ok and set to go without having to be evacuated. I can't even imagine walking 18 stories with my son who would want to walk every one of them!

Depends on their safety procedures. I'm sure there's a book at each ride explaining how to 'reboot' it. :) They may have a limit, say 30 minutes, that if they can't fix it in that time, they evacuate. I really think they do everything they can to prevent an evacuation. It's somewhat risky (getting everyone out of vehicles, not tripping over track, moving around scenery, going down stairs, ad nauseum).

Also, the maintenance guy is somewhere in the park when he gets the call, so he may be at Japan when Spaceship Earth goes down. He has to get there, talk with the crew, figure out the problem, and fix it. That takes a while.

Wow thats alot! In all our trips we have only gotten stuck twice. Never got to be evacuated, I am an odd ball I would love that b/c I would get to see behing the scenes. We got stuck on POTC a few years ago at begining at the part where they say dead men tell no tales. over and over and over for 25 minutes before we got going. I still cringe in that part of the ride. Only other thing I have gotten stuck on was HM on the part where you go backwards down the hill into the graveyard scene for about 15 minutes.

I made buzz lightyear stop this past June. I was loading in my wheelchair at got stuck between the loading dock and the car so they had to stop to get me unstuck and then into the car. It was part the Cm's fault but it was kinda cool that little ole me caused that!

On one trip a few years ago, we got stuck on three different rides. Once on RNR in the loading dock thing for just about 10 minutes and then once at Test Track where they check your seat belts for 15 minutes. The worst was when we got stuck on Space Mountain for about 30 minutes. My parents were waiting outside the ride with my cousin's little boy and got pretty worried. We had to be taken and escorted out. Believe me, it doesn't look as good with the lights on...... The best part was we had ADRs at Cindys and had to literally RUN across the park to make them.

We were stuck in that very spot in Sept 07 and had to be evacuated. And we were 4 guys that weighed on average more than 250 pounds. They sent a 110 pound young lady to help us. The look on her face was priceless. We waited almost an hour before getting helped out and led to the 14 story open stairway. I have a huge fear of heights. I managed, but I was scared spitless. It was EMH and our plan had been to ride Splash and BTMRR over and over. BTMRR was already down, and with Splash gone, we just headed back. BTW, that was the third time in 2 days we'd been broken down on Splash, plus Buzz earlier in the day. Still the best trip ever.

First time my family rode Soarin we got stuck on it. When the ride was over the seatbelts wouldn't unlatch. 20 minutes later they brought in Safety managers and were finally able to reboot the computer to unlock the seatbelts.

We got stuck in Dinosaur in 2005. It was really weird when they turned on the lights to escort us out. You could see a lot of the robotics as most of the creatures only have the front that is covered.

My brother and son were online for Storm Runner at Hershey which is a laucnhed coaster. They were next in line for the ride. The train that launched in front of them never made it over the top and rolled back. We kept making fun of him after that because he had been taking on ride videos on the other coaster but missed getting a video of the roll back.

This September we got stuck on EE. It was a hot, bright day--about 94 degrees--and we got stuck right at the top where the tracks are "broken" and you hang there for a moment before starting the backward descent. We were stuck up there about 20-30 minutes before CMs came up and manually released the seat locks. Then we had to walk down about 14 stories, most of it inside the structure of the mountain. That was kind of cool. We got a free EE fastpass and a small bottle of water for our trouble.
