Wow what a great trip. We left Friday and the rain was so hard we doubted if we should have gone. Poured rain Friday as we checked into the Grand Californian, thankfully they had valet parking so we took advantage of the situation. The new hotel is stunning! Its a great cross between the rustic beauty of the Wilderness Lodge and the class of the Grand Floridian. Our room over looked the new Disney's California Adventure, we looked right at the River Raft ride, and could see the monorail pass through the hotel. Note: It doesn't stop in the hotel.

We spent part of Saturday at DCA and really enjoyed it. Being right outside of the GC was a big hit, unlike any resort at WDW it was a treat to walk right from your hotel to the park or Downtown Disney. I heard somebody say DCA was 95% of capacity on Saturday, I think they were right. Lines for the big rides were running 2+ hours, that's when we zipped over to MK which wasn't as busy. Later we went back to DCA and caught more rides in a few hours than we could have all day.

Emu Legs!!! I just read that the Big Thunder BBQ was closed so I figured my beloved Emu Legs were only going to be at Disney East... wrong. They have a stand in DCA with Emu & Chicken legs.

I'll write full report later, needless to say our family loved the Grand Californian & Disney's California Adventure.

LOL :D about the emu legs.

I suspect that you will, if you haven't already, buy one of those emu t-shirts that Pete has for sale!?!? :D

I haven't yet... but the poor CM got a good laugh at my "May I have an Emu leg please", she was obviously a trainee as the older CM just laughed at me.

Its great to hear that you enjoyed your trip to DL and DCA and that you had stayed at the Grand Californian. Did you have theme park view while you were staying at the Grand Californian? I have heard from someone that had stayed at the Grand Californian and had the theme park view that they heard a lot of noise from their room and the noise continued til 6am. Was that the same experience for you? I need your opionion.

I am wondering if I should change our reservations from the theme park view to the city view. What do you think? What was your experience? <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

We did have a theme park view, we overlooked the Grizzly Rapids ride. It didn't keep us awake, but you could hear soem noise. The water rushing & screaming was clear if the door was open. When I asked my DW she said it didn't bother her either. It was nice to overlook the theme park and see all the action. I'm not sure I'd want to over look Downtown Disney since it is probably open much later. We stayed in 4337, if you were to stay in rooms 402-414, 424-440 (even & add one number first for floor number) you would have a good view with perhaps less noise. I have a map and hope to scan in and clean it up a bit.
