Has Disney eliminated the free magic bands that we used to be able to order for each trip as a DVC/AP member?

August 2021 is when they stopped offering MB's free to AP's

Here are the current choices for DVC/AP.
Plain are $24.99 and designed are $34.99

I think it was June 2019 when they stopped complimentary MBs for onsite trips after 2019.
*nope, let me look better…

It was June 2020 when they stopped complimentary MBs for onsite trips after 2020. If you already ordered a MB before June 2020 for a trip after 2020, those still shipped for free closer to your trip.

Thanks for the responses. How long do the batteries last? Are these rechargeable?
The new MagicBand+ has a rechargeable battery (includes charging cord) which Disney says should last 1 to 3 days while in the parks. They do recommend you charge them nightly during your trip.

Batteries in the prior generations of MagicBands last about 2 to 3 years. Even once the battery has died, they will continue to work for functions where you need to physically touch the MB to a reader (park entry, queue entry, room charging, etc).

The regular old bands were not rechargeable but my son wore one on our trip in April 2022 that he had not worn since Dec 2019, and it worked fine for entry to the park, hotel room and lightning lanes. My eldest and I had lost ours so I bought him a new one at the resort for $20 and had it synced to his account at the register, and I just used the digital ticket on my phone to get into the park and rides, and the app to unlock my hotel door. We only stayed two nights so I didn’t mind, but for a longer trip I might pay for a band for the convenience, especially at the pool where I might not want to bring my phone or worry about it getting wet.

The battery is only needed for things at a distance like on ride photos. No battery needed for turnstyle, genie+, hotel room, charging to room ... anything you touch Mickey to Mickey.

There are still $10 bands available to purchase online if you have a resort reservation. I was on the site this morning.
Yes, solid colours of traditional magic bands are 10 dollars. Character ones are 20 and special one (for example there was a polynesian one) are 25. Only for resort guest.

Are these different than the new bands being offered? Do they have the same capabilities?

These has the basic functions (hotel door, park tickets, in room charge and memory maker), But they don’t have the new special features.
