I see Disney has free dining available from May 27th-June 2nd. Isn't that weekend one of DisneyWorlds busiest? I would not have expected free dining over such a holiday weekend. Am I missing something?
We are heading back to WDW for our 4th trip at Memorial Day weekend next year. The crowds actually aren't that bad. We've gone over July 4th as well as the end of July. I would take MD weekend any day!! I was surprised by the free dining offer but we'll take it! FWIW, in '09, MD weekend was included in the Buy 4 Get 3 deals.
Memorial weekend is not terribly busy...and the week following it is not bad at all (as long as you avoid the Florida school groups doing their end of year field trips.) Lots of empty restaurant tables while we were there. The real summer crowds don't start until June.
Gay days is not an official Disney function...and has little or no affect on crowds anyway.
We have been at this time for several years and it was extremely HOT and extremely CROWDED especially this past Memorial Day. We've been going every year for 20 years and I couldn't believe free dining was offered over Memorial Day. We've never ever had free dining so I jumped on it as soon as it was announced.
We are saving over $1600 with the free dining (4 Disney adults for 9 nights) which is better than any % off room discount we could ever get. We decided we can stand the heat and the crowds for that kind of discount!! I work in an elementary school so unfortunately I am limited to pretty much summer vacation.
we have been in May several times and September 3 times in recent years...expect it to be hot & chance of rain about every day. We've been there in May when it's running 88-94 F every day and very humid...pouring for an hour every day. We've also been when it's 80-85 and dry -- drought conditions. So yes, it will probably be hot, and very well may rain. But May is not near as hot & humid as September I don't think.
