Free Dining or Room Discount Question

I'm sure this has been asked a number of times, but I'm having trouble finding the answer. If we have a free dining reservation booked or room discount, do we need for the "deal" to cover our entire stay, or as long as we book before the deal expires?

To clarify: If we book a 5 night stay that begins on 10/15 and the dining plan ends on 10/16, do we only get two nights of the dining plan or is our entire stay covered? I have heard from several people that as long as our first night is covered then the whole stay is covered. Thanks!

For FD as long as you check in when it's offers you get it for he whole stay.

For room discounts, it's date specific, so it'd only cover the dates that fall within he offer period.
