Free dining and DVC

No. To be eligible for "free" dining, you must book a Disney resort room at rack rate. So if you would like to book a cash room through Disney, you could get "free" dining. But you wouldn't be eligible when using your DVC points for a reservation.

Free Dining is offered by Disney Resorts, not Disney in general.

So DVC does not participate. It is a marketing tool, to book rooms at full Rack Rate, with the purchase of a package and tickets.

Even though there is Disney in DVC, there are many divisions of Disney and each has it's own purpose and marketing.

If you wish to pay full Rack Rate, buy the package with tickets, then you can get free dining.

If you wish to use your DVC and book with points, you can't.

Do not be surprised that your question will get responses such as Free Dining is not really free, etc etc etc.

For some reason this question, seems to upset other members on this forum especially when DVC members are disappointed that it is not offered.

I think for a new member it is a natural question to ask.

Actually you are getting a better deal by using your DVC points, which is a discount on rooms and pay your own dining.

If you are looking for additional dining discounts, you might want to check out the Tables in Wonderland card too.

There's nothing stopping you from call CRO, booking a room and getting "free" dining. So yes, you are "eligible" (Just about anyone is eligible to waste monehy on Disney hotels)



But realistically you are no longer overpaying for a subpar hotel for "free" dining (which considering the markup on Disney hotels is far from "free")

And DVC owners get a 10% and sometimes 20% off dining at some restaurants. They are listed in the portable perks pamphlet and on the member website.

Why? They already have our money. Even if we sell, they will have the new owner's money, too.

You forget that DVC is nothing but a timeshare.

That would be a really bad business model. When Disney Resorts sells a free dining package, they recoup their money by charging rack rate for the room. They give DVC members free dining, they get nothing back, since they don't own the room inventory we use.

On one hand you bought a timeshare and really all you deserve is a clean room and properly run resorts/system. On the other they could get more if they put an effort into it but not because it's deserved.
