FP Enforcement and Dining Reservations

Is there no leeway for FP return times, even if you can prove you had a dining reservation? We have made our reservations, and on our two DCA days, we have a 10:30 breakfast at Storyteller's and an 1130 lunch at Ariel's.

The only ride I'm concerned about is RSR. I'd hate to wait in a long FP line, secure FP and then have to choose between riding or dining! The plan was to secure a FP first thing, so it's possible we could get those times. I could try for one later but we risk running our (July 4th week).

If you get to the front of the RSR fastpass line, and it's a time you can't do, just wait for a few minutes and let people pass until a later time that works for you. It shouldn't take more than a couple minutes.

FP for RSR run it for the day around 10ish. Sometime before. Sometimes after. Even if you acquire a FP around 9am. You won't return til later in the day. :).

I concur with the PP that it's unlikely you'll get a FP for before noon, unless you're really close to the front of the line. I've been near the Playhouse Disney Theater in the line waiting for FP (before they're opened) and by the time I've gotten my FP it's for mid-afternoon. However, as a PP said, if you get to the front of the line and the time won't work, just wait a few minutes and a later time will come up. I'd explain it to the CM at the front and they'll help you.

Excellent advice.

Like another poster said, when you get to the front, wait to the side if it is a time you can't do. There will be others doing the same thing. When a time comes that will work for you, step in. A LOT of people do this.

Just have to echo what others have said. If you go to get a FP and the return time conflicts with your dining reservations, then wait until the time is better for you.

Are people usually OK with this? If you step to the side of the line, and then try to get back in 5 or 10 minutes later, will people think you are cutting?

Last week I got my rsr fastpass at 9:30ish, line opened at 9, and had a 12:50-1:50 return time. It moves later in the day quickly!

I wouldn't see the problem, since you have already waited in the line. It's not like you notice the time is what you want so you go to the front. Because we really want to ride it at night, I am going to get in line, and if its not late enough by the time I am at the front, I will step aside until it is at a time that works. I will still have waited the same amount of time, or longer, than anyone behind me. Make sense?

Yes, this ^

Makes sense, but do the people you are getting back in line in front of always believe you when you say "I'm getting back in line because I stepped aside earlier". How do they know you really stepped aside? Seems like some people might think you are trying to cut, even though you are not.

But they could see you standing there.

No, you are in the line. I just stepped to the side and kept saying "Go ahead, I am waiting for a later time." Wasn't a problem.

So I am understanding this correctly hopefully :) ........

Since RSR is "detached" from the main fastpass system, is it possible to get more than one fast pass to the ride when you finally do reach the machines or would that be considered rude?

I'm hoping to ride this at least a couple times when I go and since it's in "summer break" times, I really don't want to have to wait in the line if I don't have to though considering doing the "wide right" technique first thing in the morning Wednesday so hopefully it's not a 90 min wait already :) Is my expectation realistic??

Thanks !!!

It's not possible.

Detached means detached from the other rides. As in, you can get an RSR FP and then scoot over and get one for Soarin' with no wait. It is not detached from itself. Goodness! People would be hogging the FPs like crazy if they could get as many as they wanted.

Try the single rider line for a short wait. I'm hearing it's often 5-15 minutes.

I've read in several posts where people were wanting to do the same thing - get a RSR FP for a specific time of day. If they got to the front of the FP line and they wanted a later FP return time, they simply told one of the CMs what they wanted to do. The CM pulled them to the side and had them wait until the FP return time was in their desired timeframe, and then the CM escorted them to a FP machine to get their passes. If you're not comfortable stepping to the side on your own and getting back in line when it's time, ask a CM to help.

When we were there two weeks ago, I waited in line, got to the point right under the return window sign and stayed off to the side until it moved to the return time I wanted and then hopped back in line. Since I was obviously ahead of the people coming up behind me, and couldn't have gotten there without waiting in line, it wasn't a big deal.
