First the mini-review:
AWESOME!!! The theming is great! The decor is one of Disney's best for a buffet! NOTE: You DO have a waiter at Disney Buffets, and therefore there will be a tip!!! Our server was very good at his job. He told us all kinds of things about which items were best, he went into the historic and ethnic info behind many of the foods, he recommended things according to a few minor questions about your eating habits and so on. I got the feeling we were being treated to a waiter of a special breed than most. It wasn't just a "walk up and grab a plate" like at our local buffets and most of the other buffets we have had in our lives and at Disney. So he did earn his tip. He even gave us the ingredients of a few of the items. He knew his stuff.:thumbsup2

I'm one of those people who has to try a tiny sample of every item on the buffet... So if you look hard enough... most of it is on these plates somewhere!!!:happytv:
(A must do!)
Various Buffet Food pictures: (Yes we piled our plates!!!:hyper:)

Kak & Yeti...
Table Service 1 credit
Animal Kingdom

Lots of reviews of this place here. What can I say, they all pretty much agree it's one of the best restaurants on Disney property. If you like the Pho you should consider trying your local Vietnamese restaurant. We had some Pho recently in Greensboro NC that was amazing.
ON WITH THE PICTURES!
First some restaurant photos:
Some decor and a possessed looking child...

P5160273.jpg

Why did I take this picture??? Probably at the request of the children. They are weird like that. :rotfl:

Cool tables!

P5160280.jpg

Now for the food:

Kid's Plate: (My ONLY complaint; They could do better on that.) $7.49 for Ages 9 and Under

Add a Kid-sized portion of milk or apple juice in a souvenier cup.
All items served with choice of carrot sticks, applesauce cup, fruit punch gelatin or chicken fried rice. These were the chicken bites.

P5170281.jpg

Adult plates pictures:

Shaoxing Steak and Shrimp - skirt steak, tempura-battered shrimp, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables, chili plum dipping sauce $24.99

P5170282.jpg

Baby Back Ribs - slow-roasted ribs, hoisin BBQ sauce, chicken fried rice, sweet chili slaw $23.99

P5170283.jpg

P5170284.jpg

This is PHO!!! My "love at first taste" meal! I threw EVERYTHING in the side plates into mine!!! Ohhhhh those fresh Jalapenos!!!! I needed a hot fix!!! It's hard to find spicy food at Disney. This was the masterpiece of this trip!
You don't see this much here on this forum, because everyone wants steak and chocolate, but I'd take this over a steak ANY DAY! I've been saying it for years: EVEN ON FREE DINING some of the best food in Disney is the cheaper priced food! This is just another example. One more reason why it's not always wise to soak the FDDP for all you can. (And yes... I did my first FDDP trip like that too!!!)

Pho - Lemon grass scented broth, poached shrimp, rice noodles, traditional Vietnamese garnishes $17.99

This picture is presentation: before mixing.

P5170285.jpg

P5170286.jpg

After mixed: (making my mouth water...) WHERE'S THAT DROOLING SMILEY???

P5170289.jpg

This was my son's plate. It took me about 2 minutes to get the pictures, which is also how long it took him to clean up those ribs!:rotfl2:

P5170290.jpg

Dessert (amazing)

P5170292.jpg

Kid's dessert ice cream.

P5170294.jpg

:confused3 Sorry! I don't have a photo of the Simba Paw. They only sold them at Animal Kingdom but they discontinued them a year or so ago.
It was an ice cream bar made with the hard chocolate (like the Mickey Mouse bars) Then vanilla ice cream with a chocolate ice cream paw print in the middle. It was circular and on a stick. I guess nothing too special when you compare it to others but better than the chocolate banana I assure you.

This pic is from May/June 2003. One of DS's favorite treats!

Does anyone have a picture of the Smores from the 50s primetime cafe that they can post.
