Before I write my update, I just have to do a little happy dance.
DF and I had been having a hard time deciding what we wanted to do for our honeymoon. The plans were pretty complicated, because DF's an alternate for a deployement and we're not sure he's even going to be around past Labor Day. (Hence why we're getting married so quickly.
)
So we didn't want to plan anything and then have to worry about possible cancellation fees.
Originally, the two of us wanted to go to WDW. But since we took this last-minute trip in May, our families were screaming their protests at us. Not to mention, we'd already used 4 of the 6 available military discounted tickets.
So, sadly, I had to wash my Disneymoon dreams away. But then DF kept mentioning how much he'd like to take a cruise. He's been on 2 before, and he loves them. I've never been on one, but I love the beach, so I couldn't see myself
not liking it.
DF was telling one of his sisters about his cruise hope the other day, and she blurted out, "Why don't you take a
Disney cruise?"
And, naturally, she had me from the word
Disney.
DF and I talked it over and agreed it would fit both of our wishes. It would give me my Disney fix while respecting his vacation wish.
So, we went and talked to a TA at the base ITT and figured out what would happen if DF does indeed deploy. They swore up and down that as long as we can show Disney the papers that list his orders, we can get a credit (with buying the insurance, of course) for another cruise at a later date.
The only problem was we had to book the cruise a month after our wedding, because it was less expensive, and so it can give the two of us time to figure out the deployement issue.
But still...I'm getting another Disney fix!
DF and I still have a day left on our tickets, so I am trying to weedle DF into stopping at WDW for a day. I really want to go to
MNSSHP, but I am not going to push it. I should just be lucky I'm getting 3 Disney related trips within one year.
Okay, moving on to May...
The Day of May 7th:
DF and I left the TTC center and drove to our favorite "first-day" spot, Downtown Disney.

Since we'd driven that route in December, DF didn't get us lost.
We found a parking spot near the front, which was a nice surprise.
It was almost noon, and the sun was high in the sky, so I grabbed a water bottle from the car and started hydrating myself.
Unfortunately, I ended up wearing the water.

I spilled about half a liter on the car seat, on my leg, and on my side.
DF gave me a look, like, Did you forget how to drink?
A little embarrassed, I shrugged the accident off and stepped out of the car.
So what if I had just soaked myself?
A little water never hurt anyone.
DF and I entered near the Lego store, but we didn't do more than snap a quick picture.
We both had one destination in mind:

On the way over there, as we both talked about the pins we were considering buying, a DVC member shouted congratulations to us.
It took me a moment to realize he had noticed our Just Engaged buttons.
This was our first outing with the buttons on, and it took me awhile to remember they were there. We slowed down to thank him, and he noticed DF's shirt.
"You running in tonight's race?"
We both nodded. Well, DF nodded, I kind of bounced my head up and down nervously, clearly displaying my fear.
The CM laughed, and said, "Hey, I am too! Well, I'll probably be passed out, but I'll be there! So, you know, if you see me on the side of the road, just throw some water on me and wave. I'll appreciate it."
It made me laugh and took a little of the edge off the race. This CM looked as if they ran all the time; they were athletic-looking. So, if someone who had the appearance of a runner was nervous, I felt that I could be, as well.
I asked if he'd done it before, and he said, no, this year was his first one. He did, however, have friends who did it, and he told me they did nothing but rave about it.
With that little conversation, DF and I had become really excited/anxious for the 5K, and we were more than ready to distract our minds with shopping.
At the pin store, I bought a mystery set collection with antique pins and DF bought the same thing, along with a packet of pin backings. There was only pin I wasn't hoping to get in the collection, and unfortunately, I got it. It was a yellow square pin with Pluto on it.
I also got a red and white colored Mickey Mouse.
I wasn't crazy about that either, but the Mickey I could deal with.
DF opened his pack and got a yellow-tinted Mickey Mouse, which he said was going to be an instant trade.
His second pin was the one I'd been hoping for...it was an old-fashioned Animal Kingdom logo. DF, being very sweet, immediately traded my red Mickey Mouse for the Animal Kingdom.
Finished with our pin shopping, we moved on in search of shirts. We were both looking for a WDW shirt, because neither of us own any. The only hard part was that I'm an extremely picky clothes shopper.
It's hard for me to find something I'm willing to spend WDW prices on.
We browsed Tren-D fairly quickly; I didn't see anything that caught my attention, and we moved on to World of Disney.
DF was enthralled with the spitting Stitch. He took about ten different pictures of the water at various "spitting stages."
We went inside, and I became distracted by all the pirate items.
I love Pirates of the Caribbean (it's my favorite WDW attraction) but there was nothing that I wanted to buy.
DF looked around the store a long time, and he contemplated buying a hat. He had meant to bring one from home, but he'd forgotten to stick it in the car.
I told him he should get this one, but he didn't agree:
After striking out at the stores, DF and I were getting pretty frustrated. Plus, it was 3 o'clock and the sun was HOT!
We both agreed it was time to go chill out for a bit.
DF stopped at a gas station on the way back to ASSp and filled up his tank and tried to buy some windshield wiper fluid, but the store was sold out. Apparently, everyone else needed to get rid of the lovebug massacre on their car...
We watched tv for a little while, then around 5:00, DF asked if we could go to the Food Court and eat. He didn't want to be full during the race, so we headed downstairs for an early dinner.
DF got the chicken alfredo again, and I got a cheese pizza, and we both got Poweraides.

It was only 5:45-ish when we got back to our room, but I was getting antsy, so we pulled out all our race gear and started getting ready.
Unfortunately, that took no more than fifteen minutes. We did not have to be at Animal Kingdom until 7:30, and the drive would only take us ten minutes, at most.
DF agreed to leave at 6:30, just to be on the safe side, but that still left me with an hour to wait. And with each passing minute, I became more and more nervous.
The tv was on, but I couldn't sit still long enough to watch it.
So I wondered around the room, taking pictures. DF just laid on the bed, reading, completely calm. Now, mind you, he has to run for his career, so it's no big deal to him, plus not only does he participate in races, he coordinates them. He spent all last fall putting together 5K tracks.
This was just going to be extremely fun for him.
I, on the other hand, wasn't sure I could even handle 3+ miles.
DF continued to lounge around.
I continued to take photos.
At some point during my impromptu photo shoot, we heard a knock on our door and discovered the resort had given us an engagement present.
It was a congratulations card signed by some famous Disney characters and a photopass card that gave us 20% off on photo orders.
That made our evening, we were so surprised to be given anything.
And, even better, it took my mind off the race...at least for a few minutes.
At one point, I made DF stand up and take some pictures with our bibs on.
I was so wound up, though, I couldn't even take a decent pic.
Eventually, after what seemed like a lifetime to me, it was time to head out.
I got into the car shaking.
Around us, there were a bunch of grad night students loading into buses. I told myself that tonight I was going to do great, and afterwards, I could celebrate just as hard as those high schoolers.
Do I look terrified???
Honestly, I'm surprised I was able to get a steady shot, what with my hands trembling so bad. Laughing at my panic-striken face, DF pulled out of ASSP and headed to AK, assuring me I'd have the time of my life.
Up Next...She'll Think I'm a Stalker!
