Flounder Nursery question

The cruise keeps reminding me that I haven't booked Flounders Nursery, but how can I book it when I don't know when I'm going to need them? I will probably need them for the shows and the movies, but I don't know what times those are and how long they are.

Also, I was thinking, my 10 month old takes 3 hr naps and it will suck if I am stuck in the room for 9 hours a day while he naps, does the nursery provide napping rooms?

Whe booked it for our dinner times the 2nd and 4th night of our cruise. We had main dining so we ate at 5:45 every night. The shows are at 6:15 and 8:30 with the exception of At sea day and then there's an extra show at 1:30pm. If you book Palo online before you cruise (as we did) I reserved nursery time for that and I also reserved nursery time for 3hours when we went to Castaway Cay just so we could relax and just hang on the beach with our 7yr old, we then went and picked her up and she got to spend an hour or so playing on teh beach. I also reserved time when we to Nassau for a couple hours to look around, pagers might not work but they can call your cell phone if needed. As far as naps she never took a nap the first day . I only had to go lay down with her one day on the cruise the other naps she would fall asleep in her stroller, normally she would want to get out but I think with all the people around she felt safer in the stroller.

I don't think they have napping rooms per se, but if you do bring an umbrella type stroller with you, they could take their nap while you're walking/shopping/exploring the ship...

They do have a seperate sleeping room with cribs for infants and mats for toddlers. They also have rocking chairs , my DD like the rocking chairs

That's a good idea, I want to bring Colin to the beach, but if he could go in the nursery for some of the time we are at Castaway Cay, when we are bike riding etc. that would be good. As far as dinner, he'll probably be with us because there's 8 of us, and he does really well at restaurants...but, who knows, I may change my mind.

Yeah, I will have a reclining umbrella stroller, I didn't think of him taking naps in that...I thought of it for DWorld, but I figured we'd be by the pool, but I guess we will be waking the ship a lot won't we..that would work.

Good, I'll have to ask the employees, if I can put him down if I need to or how that works, because, he will sleep in the stroller, but he only takes short naps, where in a crib, he'll sleep for 3 hrs....he's in a much better mood when he gets enough sleep.

I'm still trying to get comfortable with the idea of bringing our then 6 month old on a 4 night cruise. I'm glad to hear some people seem to have no problem bringing their infants especially with a Nursery on board

We went on a 7-day with our 9 month old. I did the same thing. I had no idea of when we were going to do anything and how should we be. I ended up not booking any nursery time. She did great. We had the umbrealla stroller with us a lot and she took naps in there. We did want to do the galley tour (adults only) so we booked nursery time when we found out when it was. Although spots are not guranteed for the nursery, they often times can accomodate you. So check in with them once you are there. The last cruise she was 1 1/2 and used the nursery several times. She loved it and the CMs were really nice. One time we picked her up and she was asleep in one of their strollers. We just scooped her up and off we went. Remember to pack a little bag to bring to the nursery with diapers, wipes any special food, milk, etc. It made it a lot easier to leave a bag with her name on it then have to mess with a bunch of individual items. Have fun!!!

I have heard conflicting reports on whether CMs will feed little ones in the nursery. Did they do this for you?

I would imagine if you provide them with the food, they wouldn't have a problem. I mean, most babies eat every 2-3 hrs and if you put the baby in the nursery for 3 hrs, I would think they would feed them or the baby would be screaming.

Yes they will feed infants, You pack everything they need pre-made bottles, sippy cups, baby food in jars, wipes/diapers and they'll do it all. Toddlers they will give apple juice and crackers but that's it and they ask you first.

They didn't feed my 3 year old and I didn't know you could provide food and they would feed her. We used the entire time allotted. My DH and I spent time at the adult pool, and alone time, but took her to the shows which she loved.We also went to Nassau just the DH and I to explore while the kids were in the program.
She, my newly turned 4 year old, was potty trained last year so she was able to go in the regualr program. The nursery is pretty small but the attendants will let the child nap if necessary. You can cancel too within 24 hours and not be charged I believe. (the time may be shorter) My DD was old enough that she was playing helper when we went to pick her up.

ANOTHER QUESTION: Do they charge for the nursery? From the books and video's, they never say they charge, so I assumed it was part of the inclusivness of the ship. If they do charge, how much is it?

They charge $6 an hour. My toddler was not quite 2 yet and they asked when I dropped her off if she could have apple juice and crackers. She drank all her milk in her sippy cup and they filled it with apple juice for her. If you pick her up 1/2 early they still charge for an hour just to let you know She even got to finger paint and on the last night there was a folder on our FE that had a picture of Evie painting and her little hand print and a thank you for letting her stay there. I was a nice touch

Oh and also, I noticed somebody mentioned a 24-hour cancellation policy, and that if you pick up 1/2 hour early they still charge the full hour.

What about this:
If I had scheduled 3 hours during his naptime and he just won't go to sleep, or maybe if he's just having a hard time and they call me to pick up like 1/2 hour into a several-hour reservation, is there any refund?

Hmm... does anyone have experience with trying to get an 18-month-old to nap in the nursery?

Not sure how my son would do... he's 10 months now and when I put him down to nap he often screams hard for anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes before settling down for sleep. I think he would sleep in one of their cribs, but I doubt they'd want him screaming for even a very short time if there are other kids in there napping.

Also, I recall it was around 18 months that my daughter started climbing out of her crib and I doubt at that age he'd consent to lie down and stay put on a mat.


Considering the alternative to him napping in the nursery may mean me being stuck inside our room for hours in the afternoon, I'm keen to get it to work. Maybe he'll end up being more easygoing than our daughter was at that age, but there's no way she'd fall asleep in a stroller with stuff going on all around.

My DD never took a nap in the nursery, but once when I picked her up someone was rocking her in the rocking chair and she was almost asleep. They might get them to sleep that way and then move them to the crib?
