Firsts, Fourths, and Farewells (4/28 Back to the Future!)

We arrived at the Magic Kingdom to find the new slogan adorning the Entrance!
It was time to Let the Memories Begin!
Disney2011DayOne041a.jpg

Disney2011DayOne040.jpg

We headed inside the park and could feel the magic all around.
However, before we could really have fun, we required a quick detour.
Stopping at City Hall, we upgraded our tickets to Annual Passes.
Mom and I had some plans for the rest of the year and realized this would save tons of money.
J even upgraded his ticket to a park hopper so he could keep up with us.

By now, the kids were going crazy waiting around in City Hall this close to all that fun!
Finally, we headed out onto Main Street.
Disney2011DayOne042.jpg

And up to the hub.
Gotta love that majestic Castle.
It just puts a smile on your face.
This pic even got some birdies flying by!
Disney2011DayOne041.jpg

Now it was time for our first stop.
And some of you guessing got close.
The clue was on our clothes – you just kept choosing the wrong mouseketeer.
We were headed to... ADVENTURELAND!

If you checked out the Princess’ wardrobe, you may have noticed a certain “under the sea” princess.
She had been recently evicted from her Grotto only to land in a nearby Veranda.
However, when we arrived at said Veranda, there were no mermaids to be found.
They would, however, return shortly so Mom got on line while the rest of us found other ways to pass the time.

First stop was over to Jungle Cruise to snag some fastpasses for later.
J took the kids for a pitstop while I secured our tickets.
And then begins one of the “Firsts” from the title as none of the kids had ever been here before.
We headed across the way to the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.
Disney2011DayOne043.jpg

To recap a bit, before our adventure, we spent the last several months watching Disney movies on the weekends.
One such movie was Swiss Family Robinson just for this purpose.
With that memory still in their heads, the kids understood just what we were looking at.
I imagine if we hadn’t, it would seem rather random for a treehouse to be sitting here in Walt Disney World.
I wonder what the other children think when they see it.

Anyway, with Mom saving our place on line, the rest of us headed off to see what life might be like stranded on a deserted island.

Disney2011DayOne045.jpg

X was so excited to be in Walt Disney World.
He was even smiling for all the pictures!!!
Disney2011DayOne046.jpg

I don’t think I ever noticed this coat of arms before…
Disney2011DayOne047.jpg

The kids liked the working water wheel.
It reminds me of the scene in Pirates of the Caribbean now.
Disney2011DayOne049.jpg

And the views were spectacular!
Disney2011DayOne048.jpg

Disney2011DayOne050-1.jpg

And the “branches” are so large!
Disney2011DayOne050-4.jpg

But finally we reached near the top and found the boys room
Disney2011DayOne050-5.jpg

Disney2011DayOne053.jpg

And the Library
Disney2011DayOne050-7.jpg

Disney2011DayOne056.jpg

Disney2011DayOne050.jpg

Just like in the movie, the family organ was situated in the common area.
And sure enough, it was playing Swisskapolka.
Disney2011DayOne051.jpg

The family must be expected back soon.
There was fresh fruit out on the table.
Disney2011DayOne052.jpg

Mr. Robinson must have just finished recording the day’s events.
He left the Ship’s Log out on the desk.
Disney2011DayOne055.jpg

Next was the kitchen.
There’s some really cool stuff in here.
Disney2011DayOne057.jpg

Disney2011DayOne058.jpg

Looks like it might be time for lunch!
Disney2011DayOne060.jpg

Alas, our journey was complete.
Before we depart though, one last shot of a really cute waterfall near the kitchen:
Disney2011DayOne061.jpg

And for those who like construction, here’s the new stroller parking and queue area that was being built.
(It's all done now - we saw it completed back in June).
Disney2011DayOne062-2.jpg

Disney2011DayOne062.jpg

All in all, it was lots of stairs and a fun bit of exploration.
There are some fun gadgets and really cool views up there.
A good way to pass the time while waiting for mermaids.
Disney2011DayOne063.jpg

But before we leave, make sure you arm the canons!
Disney2011DayOne064.jpg

Disney2011DayOne065.jpg

Disney2011DayOne067.jpg

And, yes Caitlin – those were before the infamous Pirate Pose. :goodvibes
Next up – Into the Veranda to meet a Princess princess: ... and her Prince!! :cool1:

OH, I saw the mermaid outfit but had forgotten the new location for the meet & greet! You're a sneaky one. :lmao:

I love the castle picture! There is nothing like seeing the castle for the first time (every trip!!) :goodvibes

Nice treehouse pictures but it looks like that fresh fruit needs some dusting

Seeing the princess with the cannon made me smile thinking of May and then I laughed when I saw your comment to Caitlin :)

Looking forward to more!

Presented and accounted for! Thanks for the heads-up. I am without picture viewing right now, so I'll be back later tonight because I LOVE to look at all your family pictures!

First- yay for annual passes, this means ill have tons of TR updates to read right?!
and also thanks for all the pics of Swiss FR treehouse. its one of my favorite live action disney movies, and when we go in September its going to be closed! Looks like a fun walkthru at least. My husband didnt really want to do it anyway and this way i can at least know what most of it looks like!

Annual Passes! This is going to be a fun year for your family.

Oh yeah!
Mom and Princess already had their "Gals Weekend" for Flower & Garden Festival - they even met some fellow DIS'ers!
DS and I finally got to attend Star Wars Weekends for our "Guys Weekend" (Trip Report of that will follow this one)
And we're still planning some more Capell fun for 2012 so stay tuned...

Yeah, that was one of the reasons I liked Caitlin's cannon pic.
Our princess had found those cannons on this trip so she must have been plotting that Pirate Pose for some time...

Glad to have you join us!
Hopefully you can catch all the pictures tonite!

Unfortunately, those tons of TR's keep putting me way behind.
But, yes, I promise to write 'em if you promise to keep reading 'em!!
As for the Treehouse, it was fun to check out this time around.
I wouldn't say it's something to do every trip, but it's nice to check out every once and a while.
And the kids appreciated it more since they just saw the film.

Awesome start. Happy Belated BDay x. Was this in february? Ahhhhh - what I wouldn't give to be in a sweatshirt now. :rotfl: So great that you were able to travel with a good friend. Lovely treehouse pix!

The trip was actually at the end of January - a couple of weeks before X's birthday.
No matter, we all still considered it X's Birthday Trip.
And having a 3rd adult for 3 kids helped more than you might think.
Potty breaks, fastpass runs, and getting food were the among the things that became much easier...

We'll get to one of those particular potty breaks a bit later. ;)

And I'm definitely looking forward to going back down to WDW on one of the alluded to upcoming trips. But let's not jump the starter's gun on that.

i promise to read your trip reports as long as you keep putting them out. unless i die. or something equally not good! :worship:

After our trek through the treehouse, we headed back to meet Mom.
Mom was first on line in the alcove near the Adventureland Veranda.
Disney2011DayOne068.jpg

Sure enough, a door burst open and out came the regal Prince Eric with a walking mermaid!
Disney2011DayOne069.jpg

Apparently, with the departure of her grotto, so went her tailfin.
Ariel was now dressed in a stunning gown with, what do you call 'em?
Oh, feet. :goodvibes
Disney2011DayOne071.jpg

This next picture I just love.
I didn’t think you could actually capture a look of joy on someone’s face.
But this one certainly does.
Ariel was, by far, our little princess’ favorite and today she got to meet Prince Eric as well – something she has never done before.
Well, this shot says it all…
Disney2011Photopass003.jpg

Tentatively, she walked towards her idols.
Don’t you just love the Disney Magic?
Disney2011DayOne072.jpg

Then, at least, the poses.
I think my camera did a pretty good job of catching this moment when compared to Photopass if I do say so myself.
Here they are, side by side so to speak…
Disney2011DayOne074.jpg

Disney2011Photopass012.jpg

And, then, of course, the signature shot.
HA! Pun intended! :goodvibes :lmao: :rotfl2:
Disney2011Photopass017.jpg

Then we tried to get X into the shots.
It was his birthday after all.
But he wanted nothing to do with that... that... GIRL!
In fact, he hid his eyes so he could not see her.
How cute!
Disney2011DayOne075.jpg

Disney2011Photopass022.jpg

But his disappointment did not last long.
Our princess was positively giddy at this point and I imagine didn't care what we did next.
So we opted to return to X's first ever ride in Walt Disney World.
After stopping off at the restrooms, we headed further into Adventureland.
It was time for

Unbelieve sights,
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky

Anyone know where we’re headed? :confused3

Aladdin!

That really is a stunning PP pix of your daughter. You are right - pure magic captured. Love her dress!
