first time visitor pretrip

On Monday we opted to visit US and both my husband and myself loved, loved the theming of this park. We loved MGM theming with the backdrops of San Francisco and US was on the same lines but with much more detail.

My 9 year old wanted to start the day with Rip Ride Roller Coaster and my husband again opted to take him on. I need to warm myself up before attempting these bigger rides. Boy I am getting old! Honestly I didn't think that we would see them anytime soon so I was looking for something for myself and my 7 year old to do (I have come to the conclusion that my younger son is not a roller coaster fan by this point) but to my amazement the line is only 5 mins and it is 9:30am so we just waited. They were off in about 15 mins which I was very pleased with. They would have been off sooner but they had to take a cart off the tracks while they were in line. My husband thought it was very good. The only part that was daunting was the climb up the hill.

All 4 of us them went on Shrek. It was a 4D movie with moving seats. The kids thought it was ok. Boy, their standards have went up here. At home when we do amusement parks these attractions are one of their favorites. I thought it was very well done.

Next we went on Twister. I have to say that this could have been so much more. I am glad we did it but it is a one time attraction in my opinion. My husband was very annoyed that he was pushed under a pipe that was leaking (not dripping but a constant stream of water) down his back.

We put our bag in the lockers provided and we rode the Mummy two times in a row. This was easily my youngest son's favorite ride. It is a roller coaster in the dark. He also loved all the theming of this one as well.

We were able to catch the Blues Brothers show at that point. We sat on some steps of a building down the street to get a better view and out of the crowd at street level. It was slightly shaded and we had an excellent view. The show was quite good. I tried to get the kids into it but they were on excitement overload so we left before it was finished.

I had plans for each days meals but due to the fact that we had the Express Passes we moved through the parks very quickly so we were not in the areas that I thought we would be for lunch. So most of the reservations that I made were forgotten.

On that day we ate at Richers Burgers. My 9 year old and my husband had the regular cheeseburger and fries and they were $7.79 each. I had the slightly healthier option; a grilled chicken burger and fries which was $7.99. My youngest is a very poor eater and we had to force him to have something so we ordered him a chocolate shake at $2.99. At least he got some calcium. The milk shake came more in the form of soft ice cream. But he loved it. We also purchased 2 refills for our cups. The total bill was $29.97. We all enjoyed this meal.

Next we moved to Disaster. It was nothing like I expected. Basically they show you how they film a movie. The kids thought is was very interesting. Then onto Jaws which we all enjoyed. Simple principle but entertaining.

Men in Black was our next stop. It is a ride where you are challenged to shoot aliens and rack up points in doing so. I was astonished that I was able to beat my entire family. Me, against my "gamer" family. Who knew! I scored 114,500. Not bad for a first attempt. I thought that we would be going on this over and over again but the kids never asked to do it again.

We did Simpsons and the kids loved it. It is a simulated roller coaster. I thought it was neat how they load this ride. We entered a small room and watched a clip of the Simpsons to explain what the plot of the ride was and then the doors opened and you sat in a car that sits 8, 4 in each seat. We sat in the back and due to the fact we are on the tall side our heads hit the top of the seat. Next time the front seat it is! Then I think the car rose and ceiling moved open and a huge screen appeared. It was very well done even though I am not a Simpsons fan. My husband did experience some mild motion sickness with this ride, so beware.

We made our way to the Horror Makeup Show and were there early so enjoyed the displays. While we were waiting, I was surprised some kids ran out screaming so I guess you would have know what your kids are able to handle. I have some pictures of the displays so I will post them so you can judge for yourself. They show was very good. More funny than creepy.

Very hot so we did Jimmy Neutron before we left the park. Another simulator ride. I thought it was cute but no one else in my party commented on it so I guess it was just ok in their opinion.

At 3pm we were back at our room. It was not cleaned yet so we decided to get our suits on and relax by the pool. My husband poured a beer in a mug and packed a couple of extras in our bag and headed down. We saw others doing the same thing. The kids did the waterslide a few times but must have been spoiled by the Express Pass so didn't want to wait in line. It felt great to relax and read for a while.

By 5pm we were getting hungry so got cleaned up and headed for Margarittaville in City Walk. We missed our reservation and it was now closed for a private party so we headed over to NBA.

We couldn't decide on what we wanted to order so we shared the 5 on 5 appetizer between myself, my husband and my older son. It was served with chicken wings, quesadias (spelling?), crab rolls and 2 other appetizer but I can't remember. My youngest son had pasta. We had two ice teas and 2 chocolate milks and the bill was $41.59 plus tip. I have to say, I was not impressed with our meal but it probably was again because we never ordered the right thing off the menu. I also thought the theming of the restaurant to be ok but we are not huge basketball fan either.

The kids were still raring to go, so we headed back to IOA. There was a Christmas store just as you enter the park that we went into. It is a tradition the every Christmas Eve we give the kids an ordiment of commemorating a special event or a family trip of the year. We planned on purchasing a ordiment from US for the kids. The kids showed interest in a couple but we decided that I would go back toward the end of the trip to buy them. I was disappointed when I returned later in the week and both were sold out. Just a word of advise if you see something that in that store pick it up at that time. In speaking with an employee in the store, some ordiments have sold out in an afternoon. They will put the date on your ordiment for $3 and dates for free.

We rode Spiderman again and after some persuading from the kids they talked us into riding some of the water rides. We road the Dudley Do-Right Ripsaw Falls and were soaked so we decide to ride Jurassic Park River Adventure while we were already wet. We loved that one. Another favorite! We felt that we were right in Jurassic Park. You enter the ride and go through the doors and the theme music is playing. It was dusk at that time and it was a great time to experience this ride. We have watched these movies so many times I knew it would be a hit for our family. We rode it two times and I didn't think that we got to wet (we rode it later in the trip and got soaked so it must have been the fact that we were already wet that we thought it was not to bad) We would have did the Barge ride at that point, but I forgot about that one or I would have got all of the water rides done that night.

It was getting close to closing but we were still in good shape so we decided to head over to WWOHP to see if we could do FJ again. It was dark at this time and the area was even more stunning at night. My camera batteries were getting low so my flash wasn't working right so most of my pictures never worked out. Boo Hoo. Again another 30 mins wait for FJ.

We entered and while we were in the greenhouse area the ride broke down. We stayed in line because I have read that it usually is only down for a few minutes. It was down for quite a while but the line still moved. It took more than a hour to get through the line. It was past 10 pm and still the shops were opened. No one was in them and it would have been great to explore but we were tired so we just headed by boat back to the room.

I was able to convenience my husband to get an early start this morning for WWOHP but not as early as I planned.

I planned to use the short cut beside Green Eggs and Ham but a TM said the walk way was closed that morning. I am sure it is closed every morning to avoid people getting ahead of the crowd.

We managed to get in line for Olivanders wand shop at 8:05 am and were told we were at the hour point. Not bad. We waited it out and yes it was in full sun and very hot, even at that time of day. When we entered the shop we were the 2nd family. I instructed my family to walk across the small shop to in front of the staircase as I had read previous. Olivander's eyes focused on my 7 year old immediately and he was chosen. My loud, life of the party son suddenly became very shy. He was told to repeat magical words to ring a bell and straighten up wand boxes and was given a "very rare wand" that in the right hands would only do good things. It was in a larger more ornate box then the other wands that we saw in the store. I loved that it had dust on it when it was given to him. The wand itself had a skull on the end of it. It was a memorable experience.

We were then ushered into the actual shop where an individual was available to show you your birthday wands. I know that July and Aug were sold out when we were there.

My older son wanted Ron's and my younger son had his heart set on Harry Potter's because he shares his birthday with Harry (July 31). I could not leave without the wand that he was chosen for so we purchased all 3. The wands were all $28.95. I also picked up a postcard for a $1 so the total with taxes was a whopping $93.57.

I looked over at the castle and FJ was broken down and the line stretched out toward the snowman way outside the castle at 9 am.

My 7 year old and I went on the Hippogriff while my husband took my 9 year old on Dragon Challenge on the red side this time and compared to the blue side he found the red was more intense.

We took pictures and shopped in the stores. The stores were extremely small and so crowded they were hard to maneuver around but we didn't have to wait to get in any stores. I was scared that I would lose my kids in that mayhem.

At 10:30 we had lunch at the 3 Broomsticks with no wait. It was very organized. I have to tell you we were not going to do this counter service because none of the meals appealed to us. Again we are not big meat eaters and most of the meals were ribs and chicken. I would have opted for a salad but they were basically iceberg lettuce with very little else. I did notice that many families ordered the family meal of corn/ribs/chicken and appeared to be a very good option for the money and I think it was right around $50. My husband and I had the Cornish Pastries with salad and each was $7.99. My youngest son had the children's Chicken Fingers with fries for $4.99 and my meat eating older son had the Rib plater with roasted potatoes for $13.49 (the potatoes were yummy). We also tried the frozen Butterbeer with the plastic souvenir mug which were $10.99 each. We all would describe it as butterscotch in flavor and very yummy but very sweet even to myself that has a sweet tooth. Our total bill was $60.11 with taxes.

The atmosphere was very good in the restaurant. We did see glances of the shadows of the house elf but you did have to look for them. There was a large fire place that you could walk around and that brought you into Hogshead. We enjoyed seeing the Hog's head over the bar move.

We ventured into the washroom and could here Moaning Myrtle speaking but it was to loud at that point of day to hear exactly what she was saying.

It started pouring with no warning as we exited WWOHP so we put on our ponchos and made our way to Jurassic Park Discovery Centre. We stayed there for quite a while while the children played and explored. It was a perfect place to be while we waited out the rain. Upon leaving the park my oldest son slipped on the wet floor and twisted his ankle. It was sore but he was able to support his weight so we carried on.

It was right around 12 noon and the line to get into WWOHP extended all the way to Thunder Falls. I felt so bad for those folks standing there in the pouring rain that was not letting up.

We decided to go back to the hotel due to the rain. We took the boat and found it was a nice way to try to stay dry and enjoy the views of the property. We relaxed in the room until 1:30 when the maid knocked on the door wanted to make up our room so we decided that it would be a good day to go to Prime Outlets to shop for back to school footware for the boys.

We walked out front of the hotel were taxis were parked waiting. The ride took $9 and some change plus tip each way to Prime Outlets and it had everything that we were looking for and more. If we never had the kids I would have loved to shop more but we were on a mission. We were able to find some good deals and purchased 3 pairs of brand name shoes.

My husband is a fisherman and a large "Outdoor World" was across the street. This is a store that is 3 hours away from us so we had to make a quick stop here. The kids and I sat in the lounge where the kids enjoyed all the fish and stuffed animals displayed while my husband did his thing. An employee was nice enough to call Meers taxi to pick us up and take us back to HRH.

The weather cleared while we were shopping so we went back to the parks. Us was closed at 6pm the week that we were there so we headed back to IOA. The kids went on Storm Force Accelatron while we sat it out. It was similar to the spinning tea cups at WDW. We then went to Camp Jurassic. This was a kids play zone that the kids really liked, especially my 7 year old. Be aware that once your kids enter this area it is difficult to find them again.

We were going to go on Pteranodon Flyers but my oldest son was to tall to go on with us and the time was 20 mins and I didn't want them in line without us for that long. Thinking about it know, I could have waited in line with them and send them on together but in the moment you don't think things through. We never did this ride.

Our family left the park and went to Margaritaville. The wait time to get into the restaurant was 30 mins but were told to go on the deck with no wait. There was a man playing the guitar and singing that was very good. Everyone was singing along and enjoying themselves. There was a girl on stilts that was making balloon hats for the adults and swords for the kids. I tried give her a tip but she could not accept it. Our server was also attentive but we thought it was strange that they had never heard of the drink called a "Ceasar".

We were not to hungry so we ordered Nachos to split between myself, my husband and my youngest son. The portion that we were served was enormous and very yummy. They were $12.95 and we paid extra $3 extra for beef (unnecessary in our opinion). My husband loved this meal! My oldest son had the children's cheese burger which was $6.99 with fries and included a beverage. He said it was the best burger that he ever had and that is saying something. We had 2 cokes that were $2.99 each and a Coors Light Draft which was $4.50. Our total bill was $35.17 with taxes but not including the tip. Both of us thought this was the best bang for your buck. We enjoyed Margaritaville very much. The only thing that we regretted that we never saw the volcano erupt. Once the band starts they shut off the volcano.

After eating we took the boat back to our room and called it a night.

Thanks so much for commenting, I was thinking that no one was reading this. It is much more time consuming than I expected. My real life begins again today. I return to work and the travel hockey season has begun. So Canadian eh! I was hoping that I would have had this completed by know! I promise to finish but it will take some time.

My husband and I were beginning to worry because our younger son had hardly ate a thing since we had arrived. So we decided to check out "Emack and Bolio's" on the first floor at HRH. They had cups of cereal for $2.50 each. We bought 2 of them, one for each of our sons. We had milk already in our room. Low and behold he finished it all so it was worth every penny.

We were not in any hurry to go anywhere and just enjoying the morning when housekeeping knocked on the door. We were shocked. Typically they don't make up the room until between 4 or 5 pm. We asked for a few minutes to grab the things we needed and headed off to US and were at the gates at 9:20.

We rode the Mummy 2 times and took pictures of the "Egyptian" men on stiles outside the ride entrance. The kids thought they were creepy but I managed to get the pictures that I wanted. We then moved over to the Simpson's for a repeat ride and as we were waiting for the Animal Show the Madagascar Wagon pulled up. My kids just are not interested in these photo opportunities with the characters so I have to pull them into the line.

The Animal Show is held in a outdoor theater with several fans blowing on the bleachers. We were the first in the theater (again got of love those Express Passes) so we pick seats at the front of the stage. Such a rookie mistake. Once the rest of the crowd piles in the people at the back block the airflow and we start to swelter. The show itself was very cute and features quite a good variety of animals. They even have a raccoon and a pig in the act.

By this time it is time for lunch. We decided to do Mel's Drive In, our first Meal Deal restaurant. We notice a sharp rise in the crowd volume here but the employees are very organized and we have our food relatively quickly. We had 3 cheese burgers with fries that were $6.29 each and 2 milkshakes which were $2.99 each and two refill for our cups. The total bill was $28.15. Then my younger son was convinced by my husband to eat an order of onion rings so I proceed to get back in line and these $3.80 and you did receive quite a few. Both my husband and I would compare the meal to Burger King. The burgers tasted flame broiled. We thought the theming was fun and reminiscent of a 50 style dinner.

While we were in Mel's, which was just a few minutes shy of noon Marlyn Munroe was out front. We missed seeing them but were able to catch Scooby and Shaggy in front of the Lucy Tribute at 12:30.

The boys wanted to go back to IOA which is only about a 5 min walk from US. My husband and my 9 year old son rode Dr. Doom 2 times and then they did the Hulk. My husband was more prepaired for the launge this time and enjoyed it more. While the others were do these rides my youngest son and myself did Spiderman again a few times.

We then made our way over to Poseidon's Fury. I have to say that this was a big disappointment. No one like this one at all. I am glad that I did wait for this one.

Since we were going to leave the parks to swim we decided to get the Poeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barge done. I was the smart one and decide to wear a poncho on this one but still managed to get soaked (the water managed to go down the arm sleeves). It was alot of fun!

Our family left the parks dripping and sloshing and made our way back to the resort to enjoy the pool and the waterslide. The pool was quiet and very relaxing. We stayed and had dinner at the Beach Club which is pool side at HRH. We chose to eat in the restaurant but many families chose to eat at there loungers around the pool.

We ordered 2 Coors lights which were $5.75 each and the boys had 2 pops which were $3 each. The kids meals were $6 and my kids chose a grilled cheese and a pizza both included fries (you could have had fruit with the kids meals as well). I had the Beach salad for $11 and my husband had the Turkey Reuben for $12. The meal sizes were large and very tasty. The total bill was $65.98 which automatically included 18% gratuity and our server told this when she presented us with the bill. I did over hear a conversation that other servers were not as upfront with this information and others had again added an additional tip. Read your receipts because I did notice that other places that we encountered throughout the week did the same thing.

Both the parks closed at 7pm that night for some reason so we stayed and just enjoyed the resort poolside until 9:30pm.

Great trip report and great pictures! Sounds like ya'll had a blast! And I totally agree on the Volcano nachos at Margaritaville......excellent!!

Thank you so much for the awesome trip report. I am taking DS 9 in 3 weeks.:cool1: I also heard they closed the short cut near the Sues area.
In your opinion, which of the Universal hotels was closest to the parks?

Yes we had a wonderful time. Wish I was still there. I would go back in a heartbeat. It was a wonderful that the kids were so excited to go to the parks and at the same time we could relax by the pool and enjoy some down time while the kids were entertained. Not many travel destinations can provide a family with so many options.

Thank you so much for the awesome trip report. I am taking DS 9 in 3 weeks.:cool1: I also heard they closed the short cut near the Sues area.
In your opinion, which of the Universal hotels was closest to the parks?

HRH and PBH are closer to US and RPH is closer to IOA. Until I went there I couldn't understand this but really everything is so close it only takes at the most a 5 minute difference to walk from US to IOA. I would pick the hotel on what you are interested in, not how close there are to each particular park. You will know what I mean when you get there.

Today was the day that we had reservations for the character breakfast at Confisco in IOA. The characters that were there were Cat in the Hat, Thing one and Thing 2 and Spiderman. The characters spent a lot of time at each table. The breakfast was buffet style with plenty of variety; tiny hamburger buns filled with green eggs and ham (too cute), star-shaped hash-browns, fresh melons and pineapple, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, French toast, waffles with the option of syrup or cherry sauce and plenty of muffins and pastries. The meal was very good. The cost was $17.95 per adult and $11.95 per child and once again the bill included 18% gratuity that our server never mentioned. Make sure you look at you bill. The total cost with the included gratuity was $74.45 which included your beverages. I believe when I booked this I was told that beverages weren't included so I questioned the server about this and she confirmed that our bill was correct.

After we left our breakfast we made our way over to the First Aid station at the front of the park. If you remember my oldest fell at the beginning of our vacation on a wet floor and twisted his ankle within the park. By this time it was getting progressively worse and swollen and he was limping on it. We wanted to purchase a wrap (I think American's call them Ace-wrap in Canada we call them Tensors) to give him more support. The gentleman at the First Aid station was of little help and in-fact never even came closer than 5 feet to my son and never even looked at his ankle. I shouldn't complain, but I work in the health field and I just couldn't believe that he could leave his baseball book and get off his chair even if it was only a mild injury! Unfortunately they didn't have any support wraps even to buy. Again I thought it very strange since many individuals are there without any transportation. Kind a waste of time, although after some encouragement he did give us a roll of gauze so we could wrap it for minimal support.

Due to the fact that my oldest had hockey tryouts in less than a week we decided to go back to the hotel by boat and stay by the pool so we could get him off his feet and raise his ankle.

It was a wonderfully relaxing afternoon. We had plenty of visiting lizards that ran everywhere. I even had one that ran up the arm of my lounger. Yuck. There even was a squirrelly squirrel that everyone enjoyed watching. He would run right over to you, he would hang upside down from a tree (in fact once I had to get up because I thought he would fall on my head) and strangely enough he would lie flat on his belly sunbathing while everyone did their thing around him. They had a nice little hut at poolside that had magazines and newspapers that you could pick up and read. They also sold flip flops, bathing suits, pool toys, hats and sunscreen. They even had ping-pong and shuffle board that my kids just loved.

We treated the kids to homemade ice cream from Emack and Bolio's. I had a little taste and I think that was some of the best I have tried. They had a single scoop, all though quite large, on a normal cone and the cost for 2 was $9.05 with taxes. You could go all fancy and get a plain waffle cone and also a waffle cone with M and M coated on the top and those were going for just under $10 each. Can you imagine $10 for one ice cream cone? I felt very cheap because most kids were walking around with these fancy things but my kids were content with the bare rare. I just can't justify that. I don't like to throw my money away even when I am on vacation.

We went up to the room around 4pm and at 4:30 the maid wanted in to make up the room. We made our way again by boat to US. We did ET first. I thought it was a classic. The kids didn't get it but loved walking through the forest to get to the ride. I did read that the ride had a smell to it and it did but I thought it was pleasant and suited it. I would describe it as mossy, like when you do walk though a real forest. Then we did the Terminator 3D movie. My 9 year old liked it but everyone else thought is was just ok.

Dinner that night was at Louie's in US. Another meal deal location and again busier but organized. We ordered a whole pizza because it was cheaper than ordering it by the slice and I heard their pizza was very good. The pepperoni pizza (kids choice) was $20.59 and came with 6 extremely large slices. We cut them in half. We also ordered bread sticks (came with 2) and dipping sauces $2.69 and refills of our drink cups. The total cost with tax was $27.32. The pizza was quite good.

Before leaving the park to go back to the pool, the kids convince us to do the Mummy one more time.

At poolside DJ Scooter was entertaining the kids. What a hoot. He did hoola hoop contests, (man can some of those kids make that thing go) and dancing in the pool. Most memorably, they had a water balloon fight that the kids long continued after the balloons were all bopped. They all grabbed plastic cups and had their own little water fight at the fountain. They entertained themselves for well over 2 hours. There was 20 to 30 kids in on the action. I was just in awe that no matter where you are from, what language you speak, fun is fun. The kids loved all the entertainment and even some of the adults joined in the fun. We had a great time and were entertained throughout the night.

When we exited the hotel lobby it was so hot and humid I would have been very content to just stay by the pool all day but the kids wanted to go back to the park. Sadly our vacation was coming to an end so we proceeded to US for the last time.

I decided that if I was going to go on the Rip Rocket, it was now or never. Again I was were surprised that at 10am the line was only 10mins. When it came the time to board, low and behold what seat do you think we assigned? Thats right the very first seat. I started to panic and swiftly started asking if anyone would like to take our place but everyone declined. I started to hyperventilate. On this particular ride you are able to select a song to be played out the speakers mounted in you seat. I was so very nervous I couldn't even comprehend what I was reading and I picked some Fergie song and I don't even like her. I do have to admit after you get over that initial climb where you rise up on your back, the ride is not bad at all. I survived it!

We were able to catch the Simpson's while they were out and took pictures. The kids could have also could have posed with Curious George and Woody Wood Pecker but they were not interested. I don't know how my husband convinced the kids but he managed to get them to pose with Barney of all people. It was good for a laugh.

Next we rode the Woody Woodpecter's Nuthouse Coaster. It is more of a kiddie roller coaster then the Hippogriff in WWOHP but still just as fun for our party. My 7 year old loved it! We rode it 2 times and he wanted to do it again. There is a water playground that the kids would have loved but I forgot to pack bathing suits. Oh well, I will know for next time. The whole Woody Woodpecker area was deserted.

We were walking over to the other side of the park to catch the Beetlejuice Review Show and we were very surprised that we saw the Shrek picture area surrounded by people. Shrek and Donkey were out. I have to tell you that I really enjoyed this. Donkey was hilarious and really was interactive with the kids. Very memorable for us!

When it was time for the Beatlejuice show we met Don, an older gentleman on a scooter that greeted the guests and made sure that everyone proceeded to their seats in an orderly fashion. He is one of those men that you just know they love their jobs but he ran the area with an iron fist. If you walked on the bleachers or didn't follow another rule, he told not only you but the entire crowd. He proceeded to get up off his scooter and played guitar with his cane and shook his but to entertain us before the main show started. He did all of this and he had cardiac surgery 3 weeks previous. God bless Don.

The show took place in another outdoor theater and my opinion that the show was very good. I would have enjoyed it more if the crowd was more into it though. They tried to get us involved doing "the wave", clapping and singing along with the songs. This is something that I don't particularly get into but we are on vacation and we wouldn't see these people again. Let loose people! I also found that the content was current, for example they made reference to Lindsay Lohan's recent stay in jail and referred to Paris Hilton.

I am sorry have to continue this in a while. You know how it is? My kids need me.

After Beatlejuice, we were all getting a little hungry so made our way over to Finnegan's for lunch. There was a little wait so the hostess gave us a beeper-like apparatus that many restaurant use to safe our place. We had not even all sat down to wait when the beeper went off. Got to love that.

We were seated and quickly ordered. We ordered the Onion Web as an appetizer and it was extremely good. Even my youngest devoured it. The cost was $5.99 and it was a large serving. My husband and I ordered the fish and chips. I have to tell you I was disappointed that the meal never came in a newspaper. I was kind of excited to experience the authenticity of a real Irish pub. The meal was quite good and again a large portion for $12.99 each. My oldest had his favorite meal, chicken wings off the appetizer section of the menu, $7.99, and was able to substitute the hot sauce for regular BBQ sauce which made him extremely happy. My youngest ordered a children's grilled cheese for $4.99. The kids had fruit juices and they were $1.50 each and we had lemonade and a coke both were $2.25. Our total bill was $55.86 excluding tip.

While we were eating in Finnegan's, some of the characters from in front of the Mummy must have came into the restaurant to cool off in the air conditioner and they entertained us. After seeing this, the kids just had to do the Mummy AGAIN. They loved this ride and to make it more entertaining they liked to make the most outrageous faces at the point where they take the pictures. I still can giggle over some of the pictures captured of my big kid (my husband) while riding.

The kids wanted something sweet before we left the park. My oldest wanted a caramel apple and my youngest chose a 18" pixie stick that you can fill yourself from 20 flavors of sour substances (lemonade, grape, apple ect.)
The apple was $4.50 and the sugar stick was $4.95.

I sent my husband and kids back to the hotel and I made my way next door to US to the Blue Man Group's Box Office which is located in City Walk. I had ordered these over the phone months ago so I wanted to pick up my physical tickets before the show. I never had a picture ID as they requested but luckily I did have my confirmation number that was given to me when I ordered them so I was able to receive them. I was so proud of myself! I can never keep a secret from my husband and still they had no idea of where I was taking them.

While we were back in the room at the hotel, the maid knocked at the door at 4:15pm so we went to the lobby to relax. A lot of people seem to congregate here and for some reason the kids just wanted to hang out. Low and behold that afternoon the Kitchen, a restaurant in the hotel, was serving appetizers and glasses of complementary wine. I never had either but the kids raved about how good the food was.

We went back up to the room at 5pm and the maids weren't quite done yet so we packed up and proceeded out to the boat and up to the Blue Man Group theater. The kids had no idea of what I was taking them to but both agreed that the pictures of the Blue Men look creepy. My husband was very excited as well.

Truly, I never had an idea of what I was getting myself into. We were front and center in the poncho section that I thought the kids would get a kick over. I do have to say the show was wonderfully funny and nothing that I would have expected. Every one loved it. My husband said it was well worth every penny and a great ending to our trip and my 9 year old laughed right along with me. My 7 year old never made a sound and in fact never even smiled during the show, although his eyes never left the stage. At the end of the show I did ask him if he enjoyed it and he was very excited about the whole thing put his face was covered in mashed up bananas and he was scared to even move his face. They don't call it the poncho section for nothing!

The highlight of the show was at the end when miles of paper is pulled from the back of the theater up to the front. I couldn't even see my family because we were buried. It was insane.

We hurried back to the hotel to catch the "Dive in Movie" at pool side. It was late and we ordered a plate of nachos for $13 and my oldest wanted chicken Fingers for 6$ off the kids menu at the Beach Club. The total bill with the automatic 18% gratuity was $23.88. Our plans were to eat it right at our loungers but the weather had it's own plans. Before our meal could even be delivered to us it started to down pour. Our server was wonderful and put our nacho's in a pizza box and put all the sour cream and salsa in small plastic containers. We enjoyed a quiet night watching a movie in our room.
