We like the WDW & Orlando for Dummies, Birnbaum's Guide and the Unofficial Guide.....fun reading :D

I pretty much like to read over any book about WDW. With the Birbaum's I find my 7 yr old son likes me to read little bits of info. and he likes the colored park maps. He's always looking at what rides we've been on and where we need to go on our next trip.

Kimbra :)

I have Birnbaums and recently purchased Walt Dinsey World With Kids (good if you have them) by Kim Wright Wiley. Both are great sources of info.
But..I must say this-the best resource that I have found is Mapeasy's map of Orlando. It is like a guidebook and detailed map in one. It tells you where EVERYTHING is. Wonderful!!! I found it at my local bookstore but, they also have a website @ mapeasy.com!
Hope this helps you out!

Planning 7th trip to wdw this summer & I still read everything I can(local library is part of a large group & we can request material from over 20 libraries)I buy 1-2 @ trip. 1st time for the deluxe passporter & I love it. Won't carry the whole thing every day, just take needed parts w me which is why I purchased the deluxe(direct on-line)took the lists of hidden mickeys, pressed pennies, etc reduced copied them & they fit perfectly in passporter envelopes. Hidden wdw & Orlando had great list of games to play traveling & waiting in line; Permuletters(sp?) book for couples has the most detailed resort descriptions. Read Unoffical guide several yrs ago, don't like the overly critical tone of the book. Like Rita Aero's, Kim Wiley for kids was great when my kids were younger(her daughter's age is between my 2 kids), used Dummies & Birnbaum
too. Its just fun to read everything.

We also liked The Unofficial Guide To Disney World (the one with the oranges in the shape of Mickey's head on the cover).

Hands down, I would have to say the Passporter. I got the deluxe edition so I could take out just the pages I need to bring to the parks. You can get the best price by buying direct from their website. This book is not as cynical as the Unofficial Guide to WDW and a little more realistic than Birnbaums guide. It gives pros & cons, is set up very well & is reader friendly! Haven't even really picked up my other guides since my Passporter came. But if you have kids, definitely get Birnbaums WDW for kids guide too. My younger ones love to read & plan for their trip. Hopefully, Passporter will eventually come out with a Passporter for kids, although Dave's daughter does give her reviews in the Passporter. Hope this helps.

WHEN WE FIRST STARTED PLANNING OUR TRIP TO DISNEY WE BOUGHT BIRNBAUMS ISSUE. WELL I HAD A GIFT CERTIFICATE FOR AMAZON .COM. SO WE ENDED UP GETTING THE KIDS VERSION AND THE PASSPORTER, I BELIEVEW IT WAS CHEAPER THAN THE BOOK STORE. WE LOVE ALL OF THEM!!!!!

I love Rita Aero's book, and mostly her great website. Also, the Unofficial Guide has good touring plans, although I create my own now; it also has a great section of time estimations to travel between areas comparing Disney transportation and your own car. It's great for obsessive planners like me!

We use Birnbaums since 1983. We even purchase it the years (8-() we didn't go. We have found it a great way to keep up with everything. Now that the kids are grown up, they use it too.

Honestly, since I discovered these boards, I haven't touched my books! I've learned much more from reading the boards.

Checked this one out today at Borders and liked its lay-out very much, especially the large print which is easy on the eyes and the easy to see and read maps. (Only reason I didn't buy was because I already have Passporter and the large version of the Unofficial Guide-I've gotta stop buying and save some money for the trip!)

I've bought or looked at almost all the guidebooks over the last 6 years. (Even though I don't really need them, they just serve to help me get excited over my trips.) I would have to say that my very favorite is Rita Aero's "Walt Disney World for adults and children too". This is a great book. It was even better in the earlier additions where it had $50 gift certificates to the Dolphin's restaurants. Very unbiased(as much as a disney fan can be), and easy to read and follow.

I love the Econoguide, very helpful guide with all the essential info. Best book I've read yet and I've read A LOT! Just got my passporter today,
just might change my mind. :D
