Finally home!!!

My DH and I arrived home (at our house) at about 10PM Chicago time. It has been a long week and I can say that we are certainly happy to be back.

All our friends here on the DIS have been wonderful to us. They have gone out of their way to extend friendship and caring to us. We met a lot of new friends and rekindled old friendships. Thank you all for all of your concern.

I will try to get back to the boards tomorrow and update you all on our happenings. Thanks again to everyone for helping us out and keeping intouch.

So glad to hear you've made it home, Mary. I tracked you and saw that you were late and saw that you had landed. Glad you are safe and sound and at the time I'm writing this, you are probably tucked away under the covers dreaming of being at Disneyland. Only 11 months until we meet again!

It was wonderful meeting you both. Thank you again for your help in carting our goodies down to FedEx on Saturday night. I'm hoping we'll get our packages sometime this week

Janet & I arrived home last night around midnight after having 2 flights cancelled. We both took off from work today as we are whipped! We had a wonderful time at Disneyana meeting old friends & making new, and then visiting the folks in San Diego. How sad though to come home to NYC after the horrible destruction that was wrought. My father is a retired NYC Fireman & knew several of the dead & missing. Once more of the rubble is cleared away, my company(Con Edison-the electric Company) will probably send the group I work with to the WTC to oversee the installation of over 100,000 feet of pipe to carry new cable to restore temporary elec. service to lower Manhattan. It is a task,I fear,will be a very sad one, to see up close what was so horrendous to see on TV.
I want to thank all my fellow conventionears & DIS board members for their concern.
And Shari, when you wrote "he called", is it who we think it is?

and my heart goes out, Chris and Janet, for everything you've gone through. Just learned my DH's uncle was visiting the Pentagon and left DC on Monday. Closer call than anyone else we know personally but, thank goodness, not really all that close. God bless.

And, yes, Shari is talking about "we all know who" aren't you, darlin'? Can I play like my son for a moment on your behalf??? inkbounc inkbounc

Thanks, BTW, for being one of our "FAMILY" who helped see us off...meeting you was certainly among our highlights!!!

i've been following y'all's progress....yes, mary, i'm surprised to hear you actually had "too much disney"...i fear lee had too much too, so does that mean he'll not do disneyana next year? please tell him i, for one, sure hope not!

chris and janet...i know that this must have been a horrific time for y'all, but you had your family there for support. chris, i do not envy you the task you face in the coming weeks. know that our thoughts and prayers will be with you and all the workers in the city who have vowed to restore that wonderful town to its former grandeur. it will be a long haul, but knowing new yorkers (we have several close friends who live and/or work in manhattan but who, thank god, were not near the devastation), it WILL happen.

my mom read me a story that was written in one of the nation's newspapers asking those responsible "just what were you trying to teach us?" i've asked her to send it to me and when she does, i'll post excerpts as it is a wonderful summary of what it means to be an American. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I'm so happy that everyone finally made it home safely. Just as Beth, I have been following your progress closely. Chris and Janet, Michele and Milton, and Judy and Mike, the reality of what has happened must be so much harder for you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
