We just returned from our trip 12/2/-12/6 and we saw a fight break out at the Candlelight Processional on 12/5 (Jim Caviezal) at 6:45 show. It was prior to show - was anyone else there and do you know what happened?

LOL! God, save me from your followers....

The fight broke out 5 rows in front of us, but I was getting my camera ready for the performance when I heard a woman yell out, "Jim - no don't" and looked up and all these people were all over the guys in question. Audience members stood up immediately and others went to break up the fight. After 9/11, people are ready to jump in immediately. I didn't know if it was just a fist fight, or a knife, bomb, etc... By the time security came in, the audience around them had managed to pull the 2 guys in question off of each other twice. My husband said that one had a bloody face and he thought someone had said that one of the guys said something about the other's wife.

The best part was that the audience, still standing, started chanting "Kick him out, Kick him out". I didn't feel that either party deserved to stay and watch the show with those type of actions! And the one man had to be late 60's or early 70's. What type of representation is that for all of the children around him? One of the parties kids were crying uncontrollably and it took awhile for them to call them down after their father was escorted out.

Well, the show was great regardless and Jim Caviezal was wonderful! I just hope both of those parties reflect back on their actions and how it looked to young children and try to get into the Christmas Spirit at one point during the holiday season!

Nothing says peace, love, and harmony quite like fisticuffs during the Candlelight Processional.

Excellent point, Brian. I guess I'm not surprised by what I hear anymore, but you would think the CP would draw a more sedate crowd.

How sad that the defining moment of that night might be the fight rather than all the people who scooted over to make room for more, people who stood so that others could sit, the smiles exchanged between strangers who shared a love for Disney and the Season and the Reason.

Most of all my heart goes out to the grandchild who has to go home to live through more of this 'grownup' behavior. May he/she find a different path rather than trod in those well worn and pathetic steps of her grandfather.

Just wanted to say that we saw Jim Caviezel narrate the 5.00 performance on 7th Dec - very moving, especially the moment when the audience burst into spontaneous applause at the words 'and on the third day he rose again and is seated at the right hand of the Father'. As mentioned earlier Jim's narration was made so much more meaningful knowing that he is a committed Christian.

This was the first time DH and I have seen the CP and we certainly hope it won't be the last.

Afterwards we ate at the Chef's de France (another first) and had a lovely meal. And we finished off the evening watching Illuminations with the extra holiday finale which again was fabulous.

We were there that night, seated to the left of the middle and about half way up. Didn't notice a thing, for which I'm grateful. It was a beautiful and moving presentation.

hello
we were right next to the "fight"
here is what went down.
family of 6, mom, dad, 2 kids, grandparents, came & sat down.
youngest child then had to use rest room so mom took her.
the older gentleman & his wife then proceeded to sit in their places, telling
anyone who would listen that you cannot save any seats for whatever reason.
dad along with people in the rows in front & behind KINDLY asked the couple to leave, explaining where the mom & daughter were.
couple again informed everyone, "you cannot save seats"
dad then asked usher to talk with the couple, which she did, but recived the same response. the words between dad & the older gentlmen continued
the older gentleman stood up & waved his hand at the dad telling him to sit down or else. dad said no, and asked the man not to wave his hand is his face while pointing his finger at the man. older gentleman pushed dads hand away, telling dad to watch it, dad asked man not to push his hand, at this time older man then took a punch at dad, dad tried to swing back, one man behind us grabed the older man & pushed him to the seat while another from the front of us pulled dad back. usher called security.
security came, asked what happened, older man stated, they cannot save seats, we are not moving, & did not until security called law enforcement
& threatened couple with being removed physically. security took the older couple, dad & the gentleman from behind us out to get statements.
no one ever came back. after their return from the restroom & being informed
of what had happened, the little girl started to cry saying it was her fault for having to go. mom left short time later to check on dad, she never returned.

That is so sad. It's upsetting enough that people can be so hard-headed, but think about that poor little girl. Everyone can tell her until they're blue in the face that she did NOT cause it, but she'll carry it with her always. Those "hurts" we suffer as children never completely leave us. :sad1:

Thank you Alrozz for explaining what happened. I was so appalled at what I saw, that I was hoping by starting this thread that someone could offer an explanation of what actually went on.

I hope you had a wonderful trip and hopefully the family of six was able to enjoy the rest of their trip despite the old scrooge!

Thanks again!

Thank you for explaining what happened. That poor little girl and family. It wasn't her fault and some people can just be jerks.

Hey DISers, just got back yesterday, and I was 2 rows behind the fight, here's what happen . . .
There was a family, Mom, Dad, Grandma, looks like 4 kids. Mom took a daughter to the bathroom, apparently she got sick at dinner. While they were gone this older woman makes her way for the "empty" seats. As she's going for the seats everyone starts yelling "saved" she looks a minute, then says, "i don't care, i paid for this," shoves the jackets in the way and sits down. Now the father jumps up and calls over the nearest CM. The whole family and the row behind the family tell the CM whats going on, "this family was here, saved the seats, blah, blah, blah . . ." The women wouldn't move. Now the women's husband comes over and plops his charming self next to his stubborn wife. Well now the poor father was really mad, he's standing over them getting a little loud now explaining that the seats were saved, how could you . . . So the older man pushes the father and says, "we're not moving." I saw in the father's face, he had just snapped. He SLAPPED the older man's hand and says, "don't you touch me again!" Well, they dove for each other, grappling and what not. Three men came flying over the benches to pull them apart, I think someone had the older man in a choke-hold to separate them! Grandma and the kids were crying, then security took them and the men that pulled them apart for statements. One man as he was walking out says to the older man, "i just have to say, that was by far the most disgusting thing i ever saw" Then the mother and daughter came back, the family and row behind explained to them what happen, the kids started crying again, and the mother went to find out what happen to her husband. I never saw them return to their seats, but we did see the couple in the very back on the way out. Sorry its so long. This was just unreal to winess at disney at holiday time no less! Disgusting!

Just terrible to read of such behavior!

It's very sad the kids had to deal with this. What amazes me is that the old guy still thinks he's 18. I've seen this before. And let's face it, if pushed I think it would be hard for any man to resist. I don't know why they kicked the father out. I'm sorry but he has the right to defend himself.

Gosh, this is so sad! During a Christmas reading, no less!

This fall, we witnessed a couple fighting loudly in the hold area for Phiharmagic. They were right behind us. Took me a moment before I realized they were not married, but were two strangers fighting about who was ahead of who in the que. Ridiculous!

I was there too. About 8 rows back to the left (in the next section over). I did see the mother and little girl come back right before the show started and I think they left about 3/4 through. I felt so bad for them. To go do Disney and have such a awful thing happen. My heart really broke for her.

The show was incredible though on a side note. I have not seen the Passion (cannot bring myself to watch it), but have seen Jim C in other movies and loved his acting. I thought he did an amazing job.

Thanks maxiesmom!

I never saw them return to their seats, but we did see the couple in the very back on the way out.
I wish WDW had not allowed them to return.

We were standing in at the back of the theater on the walkway just listening to the 6:45 pm show and I had no idea this happened. So sad that people couldn't get along. Luckily we had the dinner package for the 8:15 show and had seats in the 6th row. It was an incredible inspirational show and my highlight of the entire week. I thought Jim Caviezel was awesome. I've been a big fan of his since his movie Frequency.

On a side note I was swimming at Stormalong Bay at the BCV on Wednesday and who do I notice 2 feet away from me? Yep Jim Caviezel!!! :earseek: I didn't have the guts to say anything to him and I didn't want to interupt his vacation. He had a little boy with him and was convincing him to go down the waterslide. I did see one family with kids approach him after he got out of the pool and he graciously talked to them and autographed something for each kid.

My DD's often pick the wrong moment to decide now is the time for a potty break. I had to take her out last year and when the CM, told me I needed the password to get back in I thought he was joking but he was completely serious. If saved seats were not allowed in that instance I'm sure the CM would have said something along the lines, once you are out you can not return so the family had every reasonable expectation that a bathroom trip is allowable.

I think the older couple's behavior is disgusting and if the father got angry, he had every right. The older couple should be banned from the park for life.
