Feet Pain ---

thanks, i know :((( so upset and worrying about disney! ic an't stand it!

what kind of stretches do you do? was told a few different versions,,,, and i'm so curious what the calf has to do with our foot pain too! o my heck!

I have plantar fasciitis as well. The muscles in the calf are attached to the muscles in your foot which is why stretching the calf muscles help with the foot pain. I finally consulted a podiatrist who gave me prednisone to calm down the inflammation as well as a prescription of Duexis which is basically ibuprofen. I took the prednisone for 2 weeks and Duexis as needed. I did the exercises which did include rolling my feet over a soda can, stretching the calf muscle (I do this everyday before I go to sleep and before I get out of bed), and curling my toes. My foot pain is so minimal now. Last year there was no way I could have walked at Disney, this year, I would have no problem. Good luck!

i wonder which is better for pain --- ibuprofen or aspirin (in this case). Thanks guys.

I think ibuprofen might be better as it can reduce inflammation. It really was the prednisone that got me on the road to less to no foot pain. I have kept up the exercises and feel so much better.

my husband and I both switch shoes in the middle of the day -feels great!

I had plantar fasciitis and the best solution I had was to switch shoes/sneakers twice maybe 3x a day. The condition for me lasted about 2 months glad that is over with.

Don't think I'm crazy, but you need Fit Flops! My sister and I both suffer from planters fasciitis she worse than I. I have six pairs of fit flops and they are the only thing I can wear to walk in Disney. My sister was reluctant to try them ( they are expensive) but I bought her a pair for her birthday last August and she had put off foot surgery and her foot is so much better. She even had her flip flops on at Xmas with socks. (Cold here in chicago

I suffer from PF as well. The only thing that helps me is a cortizone sht every 4 months. I made the mistake of not getting one before our last trip. I wear orthotics in my shoes but I don't like to wear sneakers in the hot weather . I wore my Orthaheel Tide flip flops most of the week. They are great!!!!! I highly recommend their slippers as well. Disney is a tough trip when your feet hurt!!!!! I pray next time we go my PF won't be so bad. My feet have cost me a fortune the past year and a half!

Do not wear any flats or flip flops. Wear tennis shoes for over pronations (Saucony is good) and place orthotic shoes inserts into both shoes. For work I only wear Dansko. They have cute shoes beyond the classic clog. I am able to hike 5 miles daily with no foot pain!

Fit Flops are fantastic!! I highly recommend them abs right now they are having a huge sale with free shipping on some. I have been wearing them for years. I have high arches and PF in one foot. They are a lifesaver!!

To the OP, I highly recommend you see a foot specialist, its not always going to be cortisone shots, but that is a possibility. I have had foot problems for years (20+) and finding the real issue and getting a podiatrist recommendations for treatment is going to save you pain and $$$ in the long run. If someone here gives you their stretches, it might not have anything to do with your particular problem. A foot specialist will take x-rays, and possibly custom molded orthotics, Rx anti-inflamatorries, special shoes, cortisone shots, night boot, exercises etc. I have had a combination of all of these over the years depending on the particular problem. The first time, I actually had spurs, and had custom molded orthotics, which I wore for several years, the problem went away and I had 10+ years with no pain, then when it came back, that time, Rx meds and night splint/boot did the trick and once it cleared, I was pain free for 4 years, the last time, last year, it took 2 different cortisone shots, and lots of icing and exercising to clear up, but have been pain free for almost a year now, but have given up going barefoot and take much better care of my feet now, as I don't want to go through the crippling pain again.

Is it heel spurs? Plantar Fasciitis? I have had both in the past, sometimes anti-inflamatories help, but in the long run, using a frozen water bottle and rolling it under the foot for half an hour at least once a day, twice if you can calms down the inflammation. My foot dr also gave me stretching exercises, and I used an incline foot rest at work to keep the ligament across the heel stretched out. They told me never to go barefoot even around the house, I still do occasionally but invested in some really good sheepskin slippers that I wear most of the time at home. Make sure you have shoes with good arch support (good for your particular foot)

Can I ask what kind of slipper you wear and where you got them? I've had the same problems and now wear shoes all the time, but I've had problems finding a good pair of slippers. The ones I have now are just about worn out, and I'm stressing trying to find a new pair!

I think it's Aleve that reduces inflammation.

After suffering with PF for a couple of years, I ditched all my flats and kept only a pair of supportive sneakers. I started to purchase only good quality shoes with great arch support. Within a few weeks my feet were feeling so much better. That was a couple of years ago.

Now I enjoy wearing Aravon shoes (made by New Balance), New Balance sneakers (rocker style soles), and Orthaheel slippers. I continue to have no heel pain.

PS: Aravon shoes/sandals are expensive, but check out www.joesnewbalanceoutlet.com for reduced prices on these great shoes.

I have PF and heel spurs also. Rolling my feet on a frozen water bottle is a life saver. I also make sure I alternate 2 good pair of gym shoes. I also put bio freeze ( my husband is a runner and uses this on his knees) on the bottom of my feet.

I don't know when your going on vaca but if you have time to see a chiropractor they may be able to help you. I've had foot pain for 20+ years but thought I was too busy to do anything about it until recently. I've found a chiropractor who has helped me emmensely!! Good luck!

I have custom inserts for my sneakers.A mold of my foot was made. Have you tried them? They have made a huge difference in my foot pain. I wear those and teva sandals in WDW.

My ortho doctor wrote a prescription for me for the inserts and gave me a few places to go. I chose a place called Bay City Orthocare in Erie, PA. That's where they made the mold. My insurance paid for all of it and I think the bill for them would have been around $400. They make my foot feel so much better ( I broke it almost 5 years ago and had surgery) that I would pay the cash myself if I had to just to ease the foot pain. I wear my sneakers with the inserts around the house too because we have hardwood floors which is bad for your feet if you have problems.
