a couple that come to mind here...

Why worry
There should be laughter after pain
There should be blue sky after rain
These things have always been the same
so why worry now.

-Dire Straits, "Why Worry"

When your conscience hits you knock it back with pills...

-Led Zeppelin, "Living Loving Maid"

I have a few. Here is the first:

Garth Brooks - Unanswered Prayers

Just the other night a hometown football game
My wife nd I ran into my old high school flame
And as I introduced them the past came back to me
And I couldn't help but think of the way things used to be

She was the one that I'd wanted for all times
And each night I'd spend prayin' that God would make her mine
And if he'd only grant me this wish I wished back then
I'd never ask for anything again

Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

She wasn't quite the angel that I remembered in my dreams
And I could tell that time had changed me
Inn her eyes too it seemed
We tried to talk about the old days
There wasn't much we could recall
I guess the Lord knows what he's doin' after all

And as she walked away and I looked at my wife
And then and there I thankedd the good Lord
For the gifts in my life

Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he may not answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

Some of gods greatest gifts are unanswered...
Some of God's greatest gifts are all too often unanswered...
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

Tim McGraw - Don't Take the Girl

Johnny's daddy was taking him fishin'
When he was eight years old
A little girl came through the front gate holding a fishing pole
His dad looked down and smiled, said we can't leave her behind
Son, I know you don't want her to go but someday you'll change your mind
And Johnny said "Take Jimmy Johnson, take Tommy Thompson, take my best friend Bo
Take anybody that you want as long as she don't go
Take any boy in the world
Daddy, please don't take the girl

Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Ten years down the road
He held her tight and kissed her lips
In front of the picture show
Stranger came and pulled a gun
Grabbed her by the arm Said "If you do what I tell you to, there
won't be any harm" And Johnny said "Take my money, take my wallet, take my credit cards
Here's the watch that my grandpa gave me
Here's the key to my car
Mister give it a whirl
But please don't take the girl

Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Five years down the road
There's going to be a little one, and she says it's time to go
Doctor says the baby's fine but you'll have to leave
'Cause his momma's fading fast and Johnny hit his knees
And there he prayed
Take the very breath you gave me
Take the heart from my chest
I'll gladly take her place if you'll let me
Make this my last request
Take me out of this world
God, please don't take the girl

Johnny's daddy
Was taking him fishin'
When he was eight years old

Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying

He said I was in my early forties, with a lot of life before me
And one moment came that stopped me on a dime
I spent most of the next days, looking at the x-rays
Talking bout’ the options and talking bout’ sweet times.
I asked him when it sank in, that this might really be the real end
How’s it hit ‘cha when you get that kind of news?
Man what did ya do?
He said

I went skydiving
I went rocky mountain climbing
I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
And I loved deeper
And I spoke sweeter
And I gave forgiveness I’d been denyin’
And he said some day I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dyin’

He said I was finally the husband, that most the time I wasn’t
And I became a friend, a friend would like to have
And all of a sudden goin’ fishin, wasn’t such an imposition
And I went three times that year I lost my dad
Well I finally read the good book, and I took a good long hard look
At what I’d do if I could do it all again
And then

I went skydiving
I went rocky mountain climbing
I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Shu
And I loved deeper
And I spoke sweeter
And I gave forgiveness I’d been denyin’
And he said some day I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dyin’

Bridge
Like tomorrow was the end
And ya got eternity to think about what to do with it
What should you do with it
What can I do with it
What would I do with it

Skydiving
I went rocky mountain climbing
I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
And man I loved deeper
And I spoke sweeter
And I watched an eagle as it was flyin’
And he said some day I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dyin’

What A Good Boy by BNL

"When I was born, they looked at me and said
what a good boy, what a smart boy, what a strong boy.
And when you were born, they looked at you and said,
what a good girl, what a smart girl, what a pretty girl.

We've got these chains that hang around our necks,
people want to strangle us with them before we take our first breath."

AND

"Why can't I ask any questions of what you say is true
Am I supposed to believe everything-or just everything said by you?
And how can you call me stupid-when you don't understand what I say
And how can you call me evil-have you spoken to God today-
And what did He say?" By Suicidal Tendencies- Pledge Your Allegiance

Lee Greenwood - God Bless the U.S.A.

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
to be living here today,
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can't take that away.

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota
to the hills of Tennessee,
Across the plains of Texas
from sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston
and New York to L.A.,
There's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say:

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is, another chance
wide awake you face the day, the dream is over
or has it just begun?
--Silent Lucidity by Queensryche

I'm glad I didn't know
the way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives, are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain,
but I'd have had to miss the dance
--The Dance by Garth Brooks

Give me a whisper, and give me a sigh
Give me a kiss before you, tell me goodbye
Don't You take it so hard now, and please don't take it so bad
I'll still be thinking of you, and the times we had
--Don't Cry by Guns 'n' Roses

Welcome to your life
There's no turning back

My last:

Mark Heffron - What the Flag Means

Rob and John were brothers in war.
They charged the beach at Normandy.
Robert fell at Omaha
And Johnny died near Isigny.
You'll find their graves on that faraway shore
They fought to save from tyranny.
And every dawn at reveille
Their banner's raised in victory.
See what freedom costs in each marble cross
And what the flag means to the free.

Henry came from a small river town.
He left his home for Vietnam.
Drawn to the flag of a high ideal,
He fought the war nobody won.
One day he forded a wild jungle stream
And there a sniper shot him down
And his lifeblood joined that sacred will
Our fathers forged on Bunker Hill.
Read it in the names on these granite walls:
What the flag means when you're called.

Michael ran like the wind on the tide.
He knew the race went to the bold.
He gained more speed with every stride
Until his shoes turned into gold.
And when he watched on that gold medal day
Old Glory rise, the Anthem play,
The tears came streaming down his face
When he felt that force beyond the grave.
Every freeman's life sings their sacrifice-
What the flag means to the brave.

Patrick Brown was a Queens fireman.
He captained ladder number three.
He knew the look of the frightened face
That sought the light of liberty.
That day his crew climbed the North Tower stairs
And all our hopes came crashing down,
There he saw that shining face
He'd spent his whole life trying to save.
You know your job is done when your rescue comes
And your life shines like the sun.

Tonight a storm veils a poor widowed world.
Her lonely tears just fall like rain.
A young man wakes from a troubled dream
And hears a hero call his name.
And as he makes that fateful vow
He knows his life is not his own.
And a new hope lights the starry sea
High above the Land of Liberty.
See the million flights of the Stars and Stripes-
What the flag means to the free.

Freedom by Akon

Can you believe we still around?
After so many hit the ground
And we ain't gonna stop now,
Until we get that freedom

Well, it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It'll never do, somehow
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on
But don't think twice, it's all right

And it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
That light I never knowed
An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
But I wish there was somethin' you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talkin' anyway
But don't think twice, it's all right

So it ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
Like you never did before
And it ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
I can't hear you anymore
I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin', walkin' down the road,
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right

So long, honey, babe
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
Goodbye's too good a word, babe
So I'll just say fare thee well
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
You coulda done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right

OR some many other Dylan Songs

A few of mine...

I will provide for you
And I'll stand by your side
You'll need a good companion for
This part of the ride
Leave behind your sorrows
Let this day be the last
Tomorrow there'll be sunshine
And all this darkness past
~~Land of Hope and Dreams - Springsteen

Once I dreamed we were together again
baby you and me
Back home in those old clubs the way we used to be
We were standin' at the bar
it was hard to hear
The band was playin' loud and you were shoutin' somethin' in my ear
You pulled my jacket off and as the drummer counted four
You grabbed my hand and pulled me out on the floor
You just stood there and held me, then you started dancin' slow
And as I pulled you tighter I swore I'd never let you go
~~Point Blank - Springsteen

With you my love we're going to raid the future
With you my love we're going to stick up the past
We'll hold today to ransom til our quartz clock stop until yesterday
~~Arc of a Diver - Steve Winwood

But fear is in your soul
Some people call it a one-night stand
But we can call it paradise..."

Trampled but still breathing
I'm just waiting for a good day"

SORRY! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Couldn't help myself. However, we do tend to sing this song randomly at home and work!!!!

One of my co-workers (male!) has this as his ring tone. Occasionally, we'll all be working and the office is quiet and his phone rings. We all bust out laughing!

This song popped into my head when my aunt called and told us my grandmother had passed. I was really close to her and all I could think was, "*bleepingbleepitybleep*!!! This isn't fair!". Sometimes I still do..I think I can smell her Copenhagen and I just sit down and yell at the ceiling that it's not fair, that I still need her *bleep*. That DS needs her, should've gotten the chance to know her.

Elvis Costello - She Lyrics

She
May be the face I can't forget
The trace of pleasure or regret
May be my treasure or the price I have to pay
She
May be the song that summer sings
May be the chill that autumn brings
May be a hundred different things
Within the measure of a day

She
May be the beauty or the beast
May be the famine or the feast
May turn each day into a heaven or a hell
She may be the mirror of my dreams
The smile reflected in a stream
She may not be what she may seem
Inside her shell

She
Who always seems so happy in a crowd
Whose eyes can be so private and so proud
No one's allowed to see them when they cry
She
May be the love that cannot hope to last
May come to me from shadows of the past
That I'll remember till the day I die

She
May be the reason I survive
The why and wherefore I'm alive
The one I'll care for through the rough in ready years
Me
I'll take her laughter and her tears
And make them all my souvenirs
For where she goes I've got to be
The meaning of my life is

She
She, oh she

Always makes me think of my DD ;)

I have lots of favorite lyrics in this song.

Black by Pearl Jam

sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay
were laid spread out before me as her body once did

all five horizons revolved around her soul
as the earth to the sun
now the air i tasted and breathed has taken a turn

and all i taught her was everything
i know she gave me all that she wore
and now my bitter hands shake beneath the clouds
of what was everything?
all the pictures had all been washed in black, tattooed everything...

i take a walk outside, i'm surrounded by some kids at play
i can feel their laughter, so why do i sear

and twisted thoughts that spin round my head
i'm spinning, oh, i'm spinning
how quick the sun can, drop away

and now my bitter hands cradle broken glass
of what was everything?
all the pictures had all been washed in black, tattooed everything...

all the love gone bad, turned my world to black
tattooed all i see, all that i am, all i'll ever be...

i know someday you'll have a beautiful life, i know you'll the sun
in somebody else's sky, but why
why, why can't it be, why can't it be mine?
