**Fantasy Becomes Reality** Group--5/19/2012 (INDEX/ROLE CALL, PAGE 1--ENTRY 1)

Celebrating 73 days with a sick kid  We got Joey the flu shot just because they asked us if we wanted him to have it when he went for his annual check-up... He's the only one who got it and he's on his third round of the nasty stomach bug that's going on around here and he had the sore throat/fever last week. I swear this house is like a petri dish! Are everyone else's schools turning into ghost towns? We only have less than 400 kids in our school and over 60 are out sick! Geeze!

So since I'm stuck in the house for the day, I am naturally avoiding all the things I SHOULD be doing (housework, reports for work, yearbook b/c I'm the advisor and it's due in 2 weeks), I am wasting away the day browsing cruise stuff :surf web: They posted day 20 to close the cruise journal on the DCL site! And I remembered to call DVC to add Alex's birthday to the celebration :) Not going to tell him though-- I'm just going to let him be surprised :)

Pirategrrrl and I have decided to do something a little "off the radar" in St. Martin: there's a parfumerie in Grand Case that offers a perfume-making class at 9:30 in the morning, and part of it is creating your own personal scent. They say the class runs 2-3 hours. and can accommodate up to 6 people.

If anyone else is interested, I can pass along the information.

:lmao: Yikes! With our other two cats, this would definitely be the case as well. However, the cat that has pink eye is so mellow that he doesn't care that he has to wear a cone, get drops, or antibiotic ointment smeared on his eye three times a day. He wiggles a bit when we have to wipe the crusty bits off his eye, and then curls up in our lap and purrs as we give him the ointment! Sadly, the pink eye treatments aren't working and the vet will be sending a script to the pharmacy for antivirals. If those don't work, we could be sent to a specialist vet a four hour drive away. Eeek. (Thank goodness the shelter we just adopted this little guy from included pet health insurance.)

Jaymepops, how's your kitty doing? Any better?

Wow! You deffinately got the worse end of that one! I hope that the ointment starts working soon for her so you don't have to go the specialist route!

Our poofball is doing ok. We caught the said "pink eye" right away and swooped her off to the vet when we first noticed. She is Nicko's love/pride and joy and he would die if anything happend to that cat. I have never seen a cat more in love or devoted to a human like she is to him. It's amazing. Of course he is just as obsessed and devoted to her, lol! She could care less about the rest of us, and lets just say, the feeling is mutual! The only way we have been able to give the drops is to have Nicko hold her, then we have to grab her head, while opening her eye, while keeping her still, while trying to get the darn drop to run out of the bottle faster, while she see's the drop comming for her, while we are still trying to hold her still and her eye open, and wouldn't you know it, cats can be quite forcefull and faster than a speeding bullet when the drop is just a mili-second away from their eye......then boom, eye closed, cat has magically willed herself through teleportation to the highest point in the house (kitchen cabinets), Nicko is in hysterics laughing, I am seething, and the magical drops...well, they landed on the counter right where the cat and her eye used to be......lather,rinse, repeat! Somehow she is getting better.....I think the 30 seconds of the eye being fully exposed to the air several times a day is helping! :rotfl2:

Meanwhile as I type this, she is glaring at me, no doubt planning my demise or figuring out how to pee on my pillow and get away with it.......:scared1:

Haha-- glad I'm not alone :-) I did get off my rear and lysol-ed the first floor like crazy. I got the kitchen, dining room, hallway, boys room and both bathrooms. All with several loads of laundry running in the basement (although the load in the dryer is now on it's third cycle :rolleyes1 ). Next up: open windows to get rid of these germs!!!!

As for Joey, waiting for a call back from Children's Hospital to see what to do... I wouldn't worry except with this being his 4th fevered illness in 2 months, it's also his fourth round of valium (he has to go on it every time he gets sick for his epilepsy). I'm thinking that's *not* the best of plans and the regular doc thought the same, but has to refer to Children's bc his epilepsy meds are managed by them. Gotta get that immune system pumping a little harder-- it seems to be on vacation already!

:wave2:Hi everybody! It's been a SUPER long time since I've been on the boards, but now with the cruise getting closer - I'm ready to get back in the game!!

I am sailing with a rather large group:
Myself, Hubby, and DS (almost 2)
Mom, Dad, little Bro
Big Bro, SIL, & 3 nephews
MIL, FIL, and BIL
AND my wonderful Key-Lime Pirates DIS crew! :grouphug:

Hi All! Unfortunately, we had to cancel our booking. Go ahead and take us off the list of DISers on the cruise JohnPA. Bummer for us, but I hope y'all have the BEST time!

Both Pam and I had it, passed it to son, who passed it to his daughter. Luckily his wife and other daughter missed the fun. Bunch of folks out sick at work with same thing.

But it's a BEAUTIFUL day up here in Philly. Almost Castaway Cay weather! :rotfl2: Ok, not THAT beautiful.

You should be happy to know that right as I was reading your post about laundry...you reminded me I still had mine in the dryer from last night! I also just started another load, so know that you inspired someone today...small task but still inspiration!:wizard:

I hope you hear back from Children's soon and that you can get Joey well again soon. It's never fun with a sick baby (I call them babies at any age!) especially when there are so many complications that go with it. Hang in there girl! Only 71 more days!!:yay:

Joey's back up and at 'em today. Alex is down today :/ Although as he carried the infamous "barf bucket" around the house he tried to convince me he wasn't sick so he could go to school b/c it was his turn to be quarterback at recess, haha :) Poor kid. As for Mommy, I'll be going now to douse myself in hand sanitizer!!!!! ;)

Heard back from Children's yesterday afternoon and they said no worries. We were a little leery about him being on Valium 4 times in 2 months, but they said the risks of that are a lesser evil than the risk of his seizures from the viruses, so all is well :) I was figuring we'd be finishing the week in Pittsburgh, so I was VERY glad when they called! Thanks for thinking of him!

Glad I inspired someone, lol :) I told the DH that I was going to start setting aside the suitcases for the trip, so I'm trying to inspire myself a little too! After all, getting some of the clothes into the suitcases will clean up the laundry room a little, right??? ;)

Very nice! One minor stylistic comment, though: the font, while attractive, is somewhat hard to read, particularly because it's all in caps and bold. Other than that, it's fun!! pirate:

Thanks for the suggestion...I was thinking about that myself....still playing around with it..but, I think I will change the font! Appreciate the heads up!!! Thanks for checking it out:love:!

We are paid in full and ready to go for May 19th, but made the mistake of looking for VGT,IGT for May and they have them for May 12th, 2012 on the Fantasy. Oh well, we are still looking forward to our already booked and paid for cruise on the 19th.

That's too bad about the VGT, IGT, but on the bright side, you get to sail with us! :rotfl:

Don't stress too much about the restricted rates. Our cruise is significantly higher priced than the weeks before and after so it must be selling well. I've recently heard the igt, ogt, vgt rates are already available for summer cruises on fantasy so I don't expect they will be released for our cruise. I'm not an expert though, just guessing. I did just check our cruise and the rate isn't available. Oh well. We're paid in full too. And while it will be irritating if the rates come out and I can't benefit I am comfortable with what we paid.
