Hi everyone! I'm trying to get information on excursions at Falmouth. I've read Cruise Critic and gotten some ideas, but I need the DIS to help me out! :)

What excursions have you taken from Falmouth?

Would you do them again? Why or why not?

Thanks!

My favorite thing to do in Jamaica is visit Dunns River Falls. It is a fresh water cascading water falls that you can climb. Of course it is a pay excursion and you get a guide that leads your group up the falls. This is the same water falls that you see in the James Bond Film "Dr. No" when Bond is on the beach with Ursula Andress. I posted a clip from the movie below that shows the falls. Of course today the area is now built up like a typical tourist trap.

I did a food tour there a couple of years ago. It is a walking tour. You stop at several different spots and try the local cuisine. The guide was very personable and gave us the history of the area as we walked. It was fun and interesting.

I second the Dunn's River Falls excursion. If you don't want to climb, there is a walkway built off to the side. It's so much fun and such a neat experience! If you do go, make sure you have water shoes.

I'm having a difficult time as well trying to select an excursion for Falmouth as well. Typically I go scuba diving at all the ports but RCL is not offering any scuba excursions at Falmouth. Do you know if there is much to do walking around town on your own?

Look into a day pass at Hilton Rose Hall through Resort for a Day. We were picked up at the end of the cruise terminal and taken by a bus to the resort. We were checked in and on the beach by 10:00 AM, and the pass included lunch and drinks. There is a nice lazy river, a few pool slides, a big swimming pool and lots of ocean water activities. Or, you could relax in a lounge chair under a palm tree with a drink in your hand! The hotel was clean and well kept, the food at the restaurants was plentiful and tasty, and there are bathrooms and changing rooms to use before departing. We left around 2:45 to get back to the ship (about a half hour drive), and were picked up promptly in front of the hotel by our bus driver. There is shopping in the newly built cruise terminal in Falmouth, but once you leave the gates of the terminal, the neighborhood is very sketchy and I wouldn't be comfortable walking around.

'Sketchy"is a bit of an understatement--downright scary is more like it.

No way I'd venture outside the fenced in secure area unescorted.

We did take an escorted tour of Greenwood Great House--former home of Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Nothing fancy but lots of old pictures and antiques plus a great view!!

We did the zipline canopy at Rose Hall and loved it - first ziplining for all of us. Friends we made on the ship did the tubing at the same complex and also had a great time. We wanted a non -beach/water excursion for this day and it was perfect.

We did tea at the Good Hope estate, and we enjoyed it and the tour of the house.

Would the Dunns River Falls be suitable and enjoyable for an adventurous 4 1/2 year old?
