Not really cruise related, but has anyone every stayed at Atlantis Resort for several days? Just watched the special on the Travel Channel this morning on it and it looks like a blast! Especially for kids. Just looking for some more info if anyone has any. Thanks.

Yes, we have stayed at Atlantis a few times and we got a day room at Comfort Suites when we were on the Disney cruise. I love the resort - it is very relaxing and there is so much to do for everyone that no one got bored. Will probably not being going again for awhile as we just bought our own motor yacht (60 foot McKinna - 3 staterooms/2 bath) so we will be cruising for our vacations. But I highly recommend the Atlantis.

Thanks! How expensive is it? Is is reasonable? Also, know of any good sites or message boards where I can learn more about it and do some research on prices and rooms? Thanks for the help.

We go about twice a year for business (DH' company has one of three home offices in Nassau). I thought the resort was amazing on my first trip, but have been less impressed subsequently. The food is very very expensive and I would rate it ok, but not exceptional. The rooms are generally not much nicer than your average Hilton or Marriott. The public areas of the resort are stunning and it is a sight to see on your first trip, but it is not somewhere I would go on my own vacation dollar. Of course, I am not much of a beach person because I am so white I'm almost see through- and I get tired of the casino after an hour or two. If you love the beach and gambling, you'd probably be more impressed.

If you do stay there and want a true splurge night out, try dinner at the Ocean Club. THAT was an amazing night and a true five star meal.

My husband and I have actually been there 3 times on the three cruises we've been on, so we've seen it, but the kids never have. We have twins (11) and a 3yr old and I'm sure they would love it and there seems to be a lot to keep everyone busy. Just worried it might be really expensive after paying for all meals and stuff. I'm used to cruising, where food is included. Guess I'm spoiled! LOL!

I have stayed there but it was a long time ago--before the water slides were built. I thought it was a very nice resort, but not sure it's worth the normal rates--I'd say go if you can get a special deal.

Having spent 1 day there on our cruise, I was impressed by the place but would not want to stay there. Way too big, the crowds of people during the day are huge and a burger was $8. I've been looking at some places at Our Lucaya in Grand Bahama instead.
