At the Busch Gardens F & W festival this year (an epic fail on their part, BTW, it was pretty awful) I lost my credit card. Chalking it up to a loss, I stopped at the lost and found on my way out of the park anyway. And guess what--someone had turned it in!!
Have you ever lost something valuable at Disney World? What was it and did it get returned to you? Or have you found something valuable there? If so, what was it, did you keep it, turn it in, etc.?

Thanks and have a great day!! We only have 17 days until we are feasting at the real Food and Wine Festival!

I haven't found anything "valuable" per say, have found a couple plush toys around; always turn those in to a CM cause while not valuable to me I'm sure they're valuable to a child somewhere in the parks.

Many years ago I lost my sun glasses at Epcot at around 9am.

On a whim I checked on my way out of the park after the fireworks, and they had them! I was shocked!

However on our last trip, my wife's camera was lost and never found (we checked back for 3 days and we knew right where she left it). I could care less about the camera (it was worth maybe $400), but some of the pictures on it are lost forever, and some of those from a previous trip she had not uploaded yet that really upset her. The emotional loss far outweighted any loss in cost.

I would have been happy if the person had kept the camera but returned the card!

I lost my sunglasses from Aribas Brothers (they had the castles in crystals on them, along with crystal Mickey Heads) on Soarin (left them in the mesh pocket under the seat). Went back right away, and they were GONE. Whoever rode next took them....

A few years ago I found someones wallet full of all of their id's, credit cards, cash, everything on BTM. We just turned it in to the nearest CM and hope they did the right thing with it.

Usually if I find a wallet (anywhere, not just at WDW), I would prefer to try and get in touch directly with the person myself ..... even though cast members and other "authority" figures should do the right thing with it, I feel safer knowing that I actually got the wallet back to its rightful owner. i would prefer someone to do that with my wallet too.

My DIL lost her purse With her passport in it. She's Colombian and it was a big deal. Lost and found at Epcot had it though. Nothing was missing. :thumbsup2

I lost a silver bracelet that had a bunch of silver charms on it. It was an expensive bracelet and I was kicking myself that I had worn it on vacation. But I wore it all the time and it had never come off my wrist before. Somehow it came off my wrist in Epcot. I thought it was gone forever as I wasn't sure if it came off in an attraction/ride or at dinner, or just while we were walking around. I stopped at guest services on the way out of the park and they took a report of it. A few weeks after we arrived back home I was surprised one day with a delivery from FedEx. Inside the package was my bracelet. Not only had it been found, but Disney did not choose the cheapest way to send it. I'm not sure why, but they overnighted it to me. And it had tracking and signature required, so they wanted to make sure I got it.

I have found an iPhone, an iPod Touch and an Android phone over the years. I got them all back to their owners without leaving them at any lost and found. Unfortunately karma did not shine on me and when I lost my Galaxy s3 in the city on my birthday this summer, a kind soul did not return the favor for me. :-( I even had contact info on the main screen and taped to the back to make it easy for an honest soul.

Lost my camera--got it back.
Lost my entire back pack, with money, IDs, tickets, everything!--got it back, nothing missing
Lost an earring--didn't get it back
My niece lost her lanyard FILLED with pins--got it back, nothing missing
Another niece lost her beanie baby--got it back
We found a video camera in Epcot--turned it in to the nearest CM, with which my dad disagreed. He thought the owner would retrace their steps and by turning it in, we cost them valuable vacation time.
I lost my sunglasses at Sea World when I was 12. Never got those back.

Lost and found exists for a reason.

I lost my phone on Test Track. The slid out during the ride. After we walked off I had a moment of panic. I went to the CM operating the ride and thankfully they had picked it up.

I know ..... for sunglasses, hats etc I would feel comfortable taking any of those I found there, but for something as important as ID, credit cards and cash I would feel more comfortable knowing that I wanted to do the right thing and I did .... I wouldn't want to turn it in and then feel like maybe someone else would pocket the $300 that were in the wallet I had turned in.

Just me .... I guess ....

That's pretty amazing.

Returning from our last trip, my DD found someone's credit card at MCO. We went up to the nearest gate and they paged the person, but nobody came. They said they'd hang onto it for a while but if nobody claims it they'll just cut it up.

At Disney I've found photopass cards but that's about it.

Edited to add: Years ago, on my honeymoon, I lost my sunglasses on Spaceship Earth (when you go down backwards, they fell off my head) and not only did I never get them back, I complained for YEARS to my DH about how I lost my favorite sunglasses on Spaceship Earth.

A few years ago I was in Guest Services at TL. A Lifeguard coordinator came in with an unopened wallet which a Lifeguard had found in the wave pool.

When I opened it up the first thing I saw was a British driver's license. The next thing was 12 engraved portraits of Benjamin Franklin plus some other cash. My coordinator called the Guest Services Manager who actually had the person whose name was on the license paged to come to Guest Relations.

When he showed up and identified himself we were able to return the wallet with all money intact to him. He had the wallet in a back pocket of his swim trunks but he thought his wife had it in her purse. Apparently it had been knocked out of his pocket by one of the waves.

He was escorted back to his family by a Security Host. I don't know what was said to him or his family, but I know he was extremely happy with our service.

I found $400 dollars (two hundreds and four fifty's) all quarter folded like someone had just put them in their back pocket. We were staying at AS in the sports sections (cant type the abreviation:cool1:) and I found it about fifteen steps outside the back door of the food court. I turned it in to a CM at the check in desk that I had just checked into. The CM took the money and said thanks and that typically when it's money, someone will check back. They must have. But, when I checked out, there was a note on our bill with one nights credit for our room saying 'thanks" from Disney. It stated something like "at Disney we strive to make magical moments, and when we see someone else do something magical, we want to congratulate them". It had the CM's name and a supervisors stamp of approval. Was nice to see. I was just glad that I could help someone as I know losing $400 would not be a good thing on your vacation.

That is awesome!
When I was young, 6 maybe? I found a wad of cash at a grocery store, gave it to my mom who turned it in. The lady who had lost it bought me a stuffed bear that I still have to this day (15 years later)
Luckily I haven't lost anything important on a trip- just forgotten my ID on the last cruise, oops! Thank goodness for my passport.

My DNiece lost her purse, with $150 cash at EPCOT. (Believe me, I was kicking myself for letting her carry it!) We went to Guest Services. Wasn't there, but they suggested we retrace our steps. We had eaten at Sunshine Seasons, so went there first. We asked at the Information Counter by Soarin'. CM asked us to describe the purse...and voila, he pulled it out. All cash was there. Thanks again to that angel who saved a little girl's day!

Oh, and I am doing the Single Digit Dance! :cool1:

Not me, but when my DH was a kid he and his family went to WDW. 3 adults and a child. Every one put all their wallets and room keys and valuables into a red backpack they had with them. Well, they sat down for a bit and later went on their way without the backpack. They flipped. Eventually, they went to lost and found and sure enough, a CM had found it and turned it in. My MIL is still impressed by that. :)
