Epcot crowds on Wednesday of marathon weekend?

Marathon weekend officially begins on Wednesday January 3rd but there doesn't seem to be a race that day. Am I right? Best I can tell, that day is mostly for the Expo. We are planning to visit Epcot that day and then other parks on Thursday and Friday (going home Saturday) in order to hopefully avoid most of the marathon crowd. Good strategy?

No race on Wednesday. There is not really any appreciable incresase in park traffic from the marathon week. However, since that is New Years Week, and schools are still out, that week will be crowded as it was last year. The only major impact from the Marathon is Sunday during the race as it lasts all morning and includes time in the parks, though much of that is pre-park opening, except at Epcot where it finishes.

We have been during marathon week many times and as PP noted, marathoners don't seem to make any sort of giant impact on the crowd feeling in the park. At this time of year, the way school breaks fall makes the big difference on when the crowd drop off is.
