Engagement Proposal Ideas for First Visit?

Hi I'm Daniel,

Please help!

I have planned a trip to WDW June 5-9, 2013 as a "birthday present" for hopefully, my future fiancé. We have been together for 3 years now. Her birthday will be on Thursday June 6th, do not want to propose on this day.
We will be traveling with another married couple/friends.

My original plan was to propose that Friday the 7th right before the Beauty & the Beast live show at Hollywood Studios. I have called everywhere at WDW and even been transferred directly to Hollywood Studios Guest Relations, which do not accept outside calls. They could not help me and said they are not that interactive with guests, yet.

What I want to do is have them bring us up on stage as "volunteers" or something and ask us a few basic questions like names and what we are here celebrating. Then I would say something along the lines of "We're here celebrating her birthday.....and hopefully something else!" Then get down on one knee and propose in front of the audience! If this is possible, can somebody please give me some tips or point me in the right direction to make this dream come true? With very limited time-frame and budget, I'm open for similar ideas or suggestions. Thanks!

What about one of the princesses? I think Belle is at BOG now and she's interactive (I think). I also heard of one guy who spoke to guest relations in the Magic Kingdom and was able to get escorted to the secret suite in Cinderella's castle where he proposed. THAT would be awesome :D

Also, I've heard that the amount of pixie dust really depends on what cast member is working that day.

Good luck and congratulations! Also, she'll love the proposal no matter what. My fiancé proposed while I was sick and lying on the couch -- I still loved it :)

Have you considered the fantasmic show at Hollywood studios?
Before it starts while the stadium is filling up they play little mini games involving guests, last time two newly weds were chosen they stood up introduced themselves and then were told to have a little kiss and he had to sing the next part of a song to her ha.
You could tel them you'd introduce and propose then?

I did a little research on the Fantasmic show. This would be an excellent idea, IF I could get it worked out like that! The only problem I see is that it would be late and trying to hide the ring and box all day would be a chore in itself lol Especially if I hid it in my sock like I planned. Of course I could tuck it away in a backpack right?

I love the Fantasmic idea. That would be a sweet (and unforgettable) proposal!

There is a CM(was a bride one here) who used to work that show, not sure if she still does. Maybe she could help with some pixiedust:

Would you know how to get ahold of her? That would be awesome! I'm leaning towards the Fantasmic show now after seeing some videos of it!

DF carried my ring in the box all through AK. I had put my hand on his leg and it was on the box (he said) and he was flipping out that I had felt it! It turned off cold the day he proposed, so we ended up going back to the room to put warmer clothes on. Apparently the ring also came with a pretty little bag and he transferred that.

DF proposed to me ON my birthday, and that made it even more unforgettable. It was absolutely perfect. We went all over taking pictures in front of Cinderella Castle. In the Rose Garden, with the photopass CM taking our picture, he got down on one knee and proposed with tears in his eyes. I have those pictures forever. While it may be an obvious choice for him to propose this way (my absolute favorite thing about WDW is the castle... I even have a tattoo of it), I would not change it for the world. It was absolutely perfect. I didn't see it coming, as DF pretty much quit the "getting married" talk a while beforehand.

Having someone capture the moment may be something you consider. Since you will have friends there, that will help. DF checked into the website from Disney about arranging proposals, but most of those are pretty pricey.

No matter how you do it, your girlfriend will find it very special.

Urgh just wrote a long reply then lost it!!
I literally 20 minutes ago came out of fantasmic, it truly is an amazing and pure disney show, it'll be such a nice way to spend the first 30 minutes of engaged life together!!

We were there 1h15 early and there was a nice choice of seating, it was hardly busy so plenty of cast members who would have time to deal with your request- and let the cm in charge of the pre show know where you are sitting!
Tonight a couple on their anniversary were chosen for a quick intro, so it seems perfectly legitimate that they would pick you guys!

As for the ring, shove it in the backpack :) and for speaking to the cm, find a spot with your gf- near the end of a row so they can get to you and you've space to do your thing- then offer to go to the stand at the top for popcorn/drinks etc while she saves your seat, she'll think nothing of it and it gives you a chance to go sort things!

How exciting :)

Thank you, FairytaleBelle!! That is great information and ideas!! So, this show is in a stadium I'm taking it? I think someone mentioned that earlier lol And I would be proposing in an aisle next to an aisle seat? Where is the best place to sit, up front? Just trying to get a mental picture of how it's set up.

Fantasmic is in the Hollywood hills amphitheater, which seats 7500 and has standing room for another 2500 I believe. About 30 minutes before the show, they sometimes have cast members do some kind of entertainment and they have "volunteers" come down, kind of game show like. They walk down the aisles to the center off the amphitheater right in front of the water, so the entire audience can see and hear.

I would suggest asking one of the cast member ushers when you arrive if you can be part of that. The cast member ushering might be able to help set that up for you. You'll probably want to arrive at least 45-60 minutes ahead of time. I also think that this kind of proposal would best be done at the first showing. Although fewer people go to the second show, you'll have to wait for the first show to empty out before they let the second show in. For the entire first week of June, fantasmic is showing at 9 and 10:30.

For other ideas, especially with how other people had cast members assist them, go to disneyweddingpodcast.com and search for episode 45: 101 ways to propose at Disney world.

One more thing. Make sure you know she'll say yes! Best wishes.

How could could anyone be 100% sure their future fiancé would say yes, besides asking the question? lol There is always that chance she could say no, life is full of risks and chances. It would be horrible to be let down in front of 10,000 people!! Gah, that would be horrible! I cannot imagine her saying no though.

Anyway, that is some more excellent info you provided. That's exactly what I'm looking to do! I guess it's all a matter of getting in touch with the right people the day of, right? Would you recommend the VIP seating? I just saw where you can get a dinner/Fantasmic package on Disney's website.

I'd go on the restaurant part of this board and ask about the dining thing with fantasmic.
They blocked off the entire central bit for it, however, I was happy with our seats just to the right of it, felt central anyway.
You'd have to be in that central block or ideally I'm a block to the right or left of it at the far right or far left respectively near the isle :)

When I was in Disney with my family last summer we did a dining package. The reserved seats were WAY off to the side, which wasn't bad but they for sure weren't in the center. The only good thing about the reserved seating is that you can get there whenever and get a seat as opposed to having to stand in a cattle like line for two hours in the heat.

Sounds pretty hit and miss seating wise on the package then, as as I said last night the reserved seats were bang on centre!

Yes, that is kind of what I'm hearing on the Dining Board. Some are saying VIP had been off to the side within the last year but just a few days ago it was centralized. But only one entrance for general admission and VIP. Everyone seems to think it's worth it though, especially in this case.

I'm nearly crying. All ideas and anecdotes mentioned here are so beautiful!

So I know you'd want to get everything sorted beforehand but many people love to see stuff like this so I bet you could work something out by talking to a CM in person once you're there. They'll be excited to be a part of it and probably would be happy to do what they can.

She said YES! Everything went EXACTLY as planned. My buddy and his wife got everything set up the day of. Great actors by the way! Lol I've got it on video too! Thank you all very much for your suggestions and help!!
