Elon and Peltz

Steve Jobs is a good parallel for Elon. Brilliant people, visionaries, but created absolutely nothing with their own hands and stood on the shoulders of the pioneers in their fields, and had questionable personal lives. They still advanced their fields and companies considerably with their leadership. I’m not saying they were/are good human beings, but their impact on society is undeniable. It’s like when people go on and on about so and so being a horrible businessman when they are worth 6 billion and you’re renting a room at Pop Century.
Interesting that you compare the two. Both were at the helm of some amazing companies and both made some pretty terrible decisions in the end. For Jobs his poor wisdom regarding his health was fatal. I think Elon is making similar flaws in wisdom regarding twitter.

These aren't omnipotent beings, just people with a particular talent valued by society, and just because they excel at one thing doesn't mean they will do well at everything. I don't think Elon really has the skills to run an entire theme park company.

While I respect everyone's right to an opinion, those guys are worth as much as the entire Dis company between them and have a track record growing enterprises better than the last two clowns running Disney.
Two new clowns couldn't hurt.

Just because they're good in one arena doesn't mean they'd be good for an entertainment company like Disney. Twitter has gone from a decent site to get news and the sharing of information to a bot filled hellscape full of porn, hatred, and disinformation...all in the name of "free speech".

Peltz didn't want and doesn't understand why Marvel/Disney made Black Panther or movies with female casts. That thinking would've cost Disney the only comic book movie to both make over 1 billion dollars and to be nominated for an Academy award. Sorry if I don't agree that an 81 year old billionaire is what's needed to "right the ship". And now we're seeing that a good amount of Elon's tantrums towards Disney were to help out his pal, Peltz. Like with many things Elon now does, it was a failure.

Sure, maybe new blood is needed at Disney. But not from those two and thank goodness it didn't happen.

To be fair, Twitter was a cesspool before Elon took over. He just somehow made it an even bigger and uglier cesspool. I wouldn’t paint all of his companies with the same toilet brush. SpaceX and Tesla are still wildly successful, not to mention the other small companies/projects that no one thinks about. I’m not a fanboy, just a realist.

Twitter was never a good site for news and was just as hateful and full of kooks. We have yet to see where it ends up. Look at a 10 year view of Disney's market cap, a lot can go right or wrong long term.

Iger is 73. So a less successful, almost as old leader is what you prefer I guess. And twitter, like all social media, is a garbage propaganda machine full of bots and astroturfing farms. Now it’s just not serving one party anymore so everyone is big mad like you seem to be. I couldn’t care less who runs Disney, but everyone who has made an important decision in the last five years needs to be replaced with someone who can let an entertainment company entertain and stay out of all the stuff they don’t belong in.

No, I'm fine with Iger and the existing team getting his successor in line versus someone like Peltz putting a gun to management's head to put some crony of his in charge. Iger knows a hell of a lot more about what works at Disney than a guy who saw no value in Black Panther getting made and takes his advice from a guy who directly stood in the way of Black Panther getting made and was rightly pushed out. And funny, your criticism of Disney seems to be exactly what you accuse me of being towards Twitter. Funny how that works. You're fine with Disney as long as they "stay out of stuff they don't belong in". Guess what, I'm fine with Elon as long as he does the same. And yeah, I enjoyed Twitter a lot more than when almost every post wasn't answered with a porn bot or far right bot.

But ultimately, Iger won, Peltz and Elon lost. The Disney stock has gone up and announcements of expansion are about to be made. I'm sure Peltz will try again and maybe you'll get your bowl of blood. Or you won't again since he keeps failing.

I think you’re making broad assumptions, which are wrong, about what I believe. It wasn’t the point of this post and I don’t want to wade into political talk. Not everything has to have a “side”, that’s playground mentality.
