Anyone driving/or have driven from Texas (San Antonio) to Disney? Did you drive all the way through? How was it? Did you stop any where to rest/eat? Any places of intrest that we should stop on the way?

Thanks

Husband & I are driving to Disney with our DD12, DD7, DD4 and DS3. This is our first road trip so any information, recommendations or suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

We're from Oklahoma, but we normally drive down to Marshall and across. Couple of 12 hour days for us.

As far as places of interest, you can tour the Battleship Alabama at Mobile.

If you stop in Vicksburg, you can drive through the battlefield and step on board one of the actual ironclads (the Cairo) that was sunk and salvaged. There is a museum for it as well. The park is very large, so don't do it unless you're staying the night in Vicksburg. Casinos there as well.

The Florida information center just across the line from Alabama is also a nice stop for some free orange juice or grapefruit juice and brochures.

We like to stop on the way home for a couple of nights at Destin to spend a relaxing day on the beach after a week of park touring.

We are driving from Corpus Christi for the first time this year. We are taking 2 days to get there spending the 1st night at New Orleans and the 2nd night at Tallahasee. On the way home we are only spending 1 night at Mobile.

When we drive from Fort Worth we make a long first day, driving all the way to Tallahassee. It makes for a nice, shorter drive the second day. Last time we checked into POR and were at the MK by 12 pm. We take I-20 across Louisiana and head south at Jackson, MS. There isn't much between Jackson and Mobile. We love the Florida Visitor Centers. They are always clean and nice.

Have a great trip!

The most beautiful beaches in the continental United States are in a 100 mile stretch of gulf coastline between Pensacola and Panama City. If you've got the time, consider leaving I-10 at Pensacola and head south on I-110. Then follow US 98 east via Gulf Breeze, Fort Walton Beach, Destin to Panama City Beach.
The sand is pure snow white and in many places US 98 runs right along the shore. You'll want to stop in some of the free parks along the way and let the kids run and jump on the sandy beaches. It is incredibly beautiful.
