I am a group leader for this years trip. Does anyone know of any children that are going on the flight this year? Just curious if they may be in my group of eight children.

Also, I am Director of Fund Raising and Sponsorships. If you or someone you know would like to donate approx 200 items for the children's loot bags (when they return from the Magic Kingdom) it would me more than apprecaited. PM me if you can help.

Thank you

Hi from DTF-YYC! As you can see from my handle, I am a volunteer here in Calgary, went to DLR in 2009 and 2010, hoping to go again this year also.

Hope your trip goes well - ours is scheduled for October.

Allie

Allie - nice to meet another DISer who volunteers with DTF.

I can't wait for my trip. I am planning our day already. I have eight pretty interesting kids to lead around the Magic Kingdom.

Keep in touch, if you like send me a pm with your e-mail, I'd love to see your photos.

A few years a go my oldest DD performed at the pre flight party. I have to say it was the proudest mama moment I've ever had. She was dog tired as we had to get up at 2am to get ready and get there. I had been telling her that it was such a small blip in her life and the kids that she was going to perform for have big blips often. She needed to consider herself very lucky. Well....as we were driving home at about 7am she yawned and said that she was really happy she had done it and understood what I had been saying. I now call it an Oprah Ah Ha moment....the teenager finally got it.

I truly loved going there that morning and would really love to do it again. I cried as the kids boarded the planes. Having been many times to the world I felt the magic that they were headed for that day.

Dear Lynda and Allie: This thread reminds me of the wonderful work you do at Dreams Take Flight. One of our sons has cerebral palsy and a number of children in our circle of "friends with disability" have enjoyed such magical days at MK...they returned home exhausted but utterly thrilled by the experience. Many years ago, we were asked if we wanted our son to be considered, but decided he did not have the stamina for the trip - and also we were hoping to take him and his twin brother ourselves once they were a bit older.

We have become big WDW fans - the CMs do all they can to give kids with special needs a trip to remember. We have often seen groups like Dreams Take Flight enjoying the park, and I am always touched when I see that the leaders seem to be feeling as much magic, if not more, as their special charges.

I think I am truly blessed to be able to be part of Dreams Take Flight and like twinmum says, I get as much out of the trip as the children.

It is incredible to be able to share the magic with kids that would otherwise never have the opportunity to experience the Magic Kindom.

It truly is an experience never to be forgotten and each trip is so special. I cry when I meet the kids, when we board the plane, when magic happens, it's just an all day tear fest.

Everyone cries when we hug one another and leave the hangar at the end of the day.

dancin Disney style - there is always room for volunteers

twinmum - sent you a pm

If the pre flight party is still the same and there is still a need for entertainment I could try to get our dance company on board.

PM me if it's a possibility.

One week today I'll be at the Magic Kingdom with Dreams Take Flight.

I've read about my kids and met their group escorts. I can't wait to meet them and share the Magic Kingdom.
