Dream Concierge

I seem to recall reading those threads and even more in debate on the cabanas. We've done 5 cruises - 2 dream - 2 fantasy - 1 magic. and we've had inside / outside / and 1 concierge on the Dream as a family in 2 Cat T's and 2 Cat V's, (which was the Cadillac of all cruises for our group!!) We were in 12506-12512 a/k/a the bump out verandas which aren't the same cabin as the OP but I'll post some pics to hopefully build the anticipation.

We actually followed our Dream concierge stay (which I will not deny was awesome) with a cruise in an inside stateroom on the Magic. So personally I can go back and forth and feel each cruise was such a unique experience that we loved all of them.

I was similar to you in that I didn't actually utilize the staff and the service in concierge all that much either, and I think I visited the lounge only a few times - much less than some of my family. But I wasn't trying to get my money's worth thru those avenues. I wanted my family to experience the staterooms and have access to the amenities should they need something. And I wanted to give my parents who are in their mid 70's a wonderful experience. It was more for them than anyone or anything and I probably won't cruise with them again without upgrading to this level. They can't travel as often or as easily as we can and need to have family around. For this circumstance alone, the concierge option is invaluable on a cruise.

But if it's just us , yeah we're happy either way. Heck "we're on a Boat!!!"

Thank you! It has been a while since those really popped up (the cabana ones are more regular), but they have happened. I remember a few around the time the gates were removed on the Dream and the Fantasy - more than one poster was upset that now "anyone from anywhere can just walk into our area"!!

Dug, just let it go. I prefer to stay concierge and on numerous threads you have attempted to paint me as someone who didn't want to be near the "unwashed masses," as you labeled it. I stay concierge for the larger stateroom, so my family only books the Cat T or larger. The added perks of priority embarkation/disembarkation are something that we receive in addition to our larger stateroom. We enjoy skipping the MDRs and experiencing quiet dinners and breakfasts in our stateroom. We vacation less often and spend our vacation dollars where we see fit, nobody else pays for our vacations.

Not sure why you continue to bash those of us who choose to pay for and stay in concierge.

Actually, I was the one who said, "unwashed masses," but my tongue was buried in my cheek.

Thank you!! MTE!! It seems that Dug720 goes out of her way to jump on concierge threads and paint those staying in concierge with her broad, bitter brush. We get it, Dug720! You don't need concierge, hand holding or whatever snarky description you come up with to describe concierge guests.

Thank you for this thread. I am happy I found it.
I sail concierge on NCL in a Haven and it is wonderful. We have our own private pool, Jacuzzis, sun decks overlooking ocean, cocktail reception, restaurants, bars, 2 concierges that bend over backwards for you as well as our own spa area. You never have to leave the Haven if you desire not to do so. It is like your own ship within a ship.
I have an opportunity to move my cabin to concierge for approximately $550-$600 for September sailing. This cruise is just my mom and me (not my family).
We were on the Dream over NYE and I noticed that the concierge sundeck was in the middle of a deck? Is that correct? You cannot see the ocean from
the concierge sundeck? On NCL, in the Haven sundeck, deck crew come around with light snacks, drinks and spritz you with water if you wish. Do they do
this too on Disney concierge?

I do enjoy my drinks on a cruise but probably know that I cannot take an alcohol drink outside of the concierge lounge so not sure how much I would use it.
Is the concierge lounge open late? Do people in concierge have their own place for breakfast, lunch and dinner if they desire? I plan on booking
Palo for two nights and Remy for two nights for our 4 night cruise but maybe would eat with concierge if it were different then the dining rooms.

My cruise is for 4 nights and it wasn't so appealing to me seeing the concierge sundeck in the middle of a deck and maybe this is one of my concerns.
We will not have children with us. I'm so happy to see this thread and reading all responses.

It is not as isolated as the Haven sounds by any means. You share the same pools, spa, hot tubs, theatre entertainment, and MDRs as everyone else. The only thing you need a key card to access is the lounge (sundeck access is through the lounge) - the halls are no longer gated off. And you would be eating with non-concierge guests in Palo and Remy - not at shared tables as they are all individual party tables, but there are not sections for concierge and non-concierge.

I burn, so I don't do sundecks and can't answer those, but I don't recall the host saying they would spritz you with water while laying out. They provide sunscreen, but to my knowledge that is it.

You CAN take the drinks out of the lounge, that's not a problem.

I think it is open until 10, maybe 10:30. They had continental-type stuff out at breakfast and snack things during the day. I guess some could make a meal out of finger sandwiches and stuff if they want to.

I will say that I believe even with concierge you are only allowed to book one dinner at Palo and one dinner at Remy in advance and others are subject to availability. The concierge hosts should be able to book those extra ones IF there is space.

We've stayed in 12010 and (I think) 11006. 12010 was similar to 12016 in layout, based on what I see on the online maps. It's a nice room. You'll have the regular sized verandah instead of the bump. It's nice being close to the inside door for concierge.

What to do/not do is truly covered in a million other threads... :)

We like Concierge for the fact that they do stuff for us. We can ask for something and generally get it. Lucked out with cabana our first time. Considering the mid-afternoon rainstorm that hit, we were thrilled to have the cabana!!
Thanks for the picture!!!! It looks like a very nice room!!! :-) Everything sounds great!!! We would love to have a cabana!!! But if we aren't able to get one that's ok. We are on Castaway Cay!!!! That's exciting all by itself :rainbow: Can't wait for our cruise!!!!

Concierge lounge hours are 7 am to 10 pm, bar disembarkation morning they open earlier for a continental breakfast.

We sailed Concierge for the first time on a 4 day Magic cruise last Feb in a cat. T and my DH said he would not sail any other way. We are sailing this Feb on the Dream for 4 days and also have a Cat.T. Even though we live 25 mins from the port we sail once a year. Looking forward to being a little spoiled again later this month.

Multi-quote is not working for me, but the statement was "Once you go concierge you will never go back!!!!!" Not "We went concierge and we will not go back."
So a word different but same meaning?

And perhaps not in this thread,

Yes Not on this thread!!

but in MANY threads about the value of concierge, the "us vs. them" attitude comes through loud and clear, making it definitely seem like a first-class vs. commoner status.

No, its not, its the way you are personally reading it and as you said in your post, "perhaps not in this thread" but you still choose to go on the offensive.

Example I fly sometimes First class, sometimes Upper Class Sometimes business class, sometimes Economy. There all good but some have more perks, when I choose Economy, I am not annoyed that the others get on quicker have more choice of food and have bigger seats, I "choose" where I will sit. No one speaking for concierge has been in any way disrespectful. Bar you no one used Us Vs Them, or commoner status terms, those comments upset others who have been respectful.

But we should probably stop responding to anything the other says as it seems we will never have common ground. (Not just from this thread.) But it's cool! That's why there is chocolate and vanilla! :)

Personally just "ignore" concierge threads if they annoy you.

So a word different but same meaning?

Just choosing this point as no, "you" and "we" do not have the same meaning. :) "We" would be specific to someone's experience (or I). "You" carries with it the implication of the general group. :)

Same difference. In this context of English, its the same.

We could go round and round, but in no context do "we" and "you" ever mean the same thing.

In the context before they do but your splitting hairs. Interesting you didnt reply to the main part of my post. Just focused on that little bit.

I do think this should stop now or we could potentially both get an infraction.

A 4 night cruise goes by so fast the concierge sundeck is usually not busy at all on the Dream.

the sundeck is nestled behind the whitewall and blue glass w/wave design seen far right in this photo.

here's a better shot of it.

It's very nice. (these were taken at sunrise - before it was set up for the day with all the cushions and pillows)

Plus there are easy access doors to the open deck 13 area if you'd like to take in the views and a convenient stairwell down to the concierge lounge.

As far as the food - there is a concierge lounge on the Disney Dream which provides a really great continental breakfast in the morning and a delicious sampling of gourmet danish, fresh fruit, cold appetizers, finger sandwiches and mini desserts throughout the day.

It's more like happy hour - not a full dining experience in comparison to the restaurants.

here's a teaser for all of us food lovers out there.

Continental Breakfast

Best enjoyed on your private balcony of course! As you take in the sights while docking at Castaway Cay.

Why am I not on a cruise????

I'd be happy to showcase the other food samplings if anyone would like to see more.

BUT not everyone needs or wants those extras. And some of us HAVE cruised concierge and learned that we don't need or want them - especially when we can pay much less and cruise more often! :) It just irks me when people say "Once you sail concierge you'll never sail another way" because there are lots of us who DO even after trying it. That is the point I'm trying to make. I did briefly consider it for my Feb 2016 Wonder cruise just to see if I really missed something when my dad booked concierge on the Dream in the summer of 2013. It's only just less than double my 4B cabin, and less than what I'd been pondering on the Fantasy 9B. But honestly the only thing I'd miss is the drinks (not even sure they have those on the Wonder), and even then there is NO WAY I would drink close to $1200 worth of drinks. I have no desire to ever get a cabana (heck, the price of that is like half the price of another cruise!), and I don't really need or like having my hand held and being fussed over. "I'm a big girl. I tie my own sandals and everything!" (I've said before when we were concierge, I went into the lounge at some point on Nassau day to get a can of diet Coke - maybe 2 so I could put one in the fridge - and the host was so happy to see me - or anyone in our cabin - ask for something, he grabbed as many as he could carry and took them to our cabin.) So no, it's never going to be worth it for me.

Don't assume that just because you sail concierge you will never be able to sail "commoner" again.

Well--I can say we've done 2 cruises on Fantasy and both Concierge--and we will never do it any other way!

We are big Haven fans as well. I like the Haven sundeck much better than the concierge sundeck on the Dream and Fantasy. I felt "penned" in on Disney since it was a partitioned area in the middle of a public sundeck with no sea views at all. I love having the sea views from the Haven sundeck loungers and the Haven butler is such a treat. On our Getaway cruise a few weeks ago, Roberto the Haven butler was fantastic. Totally spoiled me and my girls.

OMG! Those pics bring back great memories. 4 day Member cruise in a Cat T, Deck 12...Wow!

I was in the lounge before, in between and after every meal. We never actually used room service...didn't need to but having the option is very nice. I particularly liked the mornings walking right across the hall, loading up a plate and some coffee and sitting on our balcony. The staff arranged a group tour of the Royal suites for us and made our cruise even nicer.

What a spread...not to mention the embarkation day "welcome" smorgasbord.

I don't drink but I'm sure the open bar is very attractive to some.
