Does Disneyland Do Family of the Day?

Some friends of ours who live in VA just got back from a trip to WDW, and on their third day there they were chosen as the "Family of the Day" which I guess means they get to open the park and take part in some special ceremonies. It seems like they had a ton of fun, but I honestly don't remember ever seeing something like this happen at Disneyland. Am I just totally unobservant, or do they not do Family of the Day in Anaheim?

We're here now, just having our rest-time. And it just s o happens that we were the family of the day yesterday. We got picked at the gate to participate in park opening.
We stood at the front and did the countdown, we were given buttons that say honorary members of Disneyland, and we got two fast passes for up to six people for any ride, except RSR.
It was cool!
