I was in shock! I feel like I just have a bad cold. Around Sunday night is when I started feeling coldish. Monday morning I felt a little congested but got better later that morning. Monday night felt coldish again. Felt better Tuesday mid morning (a little worse than Monday). Tuesday night my throat was so sore and I was really congested. Wednesday I felt rough. My throat hurt, I was congested, felt like I had a little fever, chest hurt, and stomach ache. I figured I had a sinus infection that may have turned into bronchitis.

Went to Doc and he said I had all the symptoms of swine flu.
Today I feel better. If it wasn't for my horribly sore throat and chest, I would feel pretty good.

I never felt like going to bed. I actually wanted to go shopping at Target after I left the Dr's but remembered I was contagious.

About 2 weeks ago I started doing research about how to build your immune system against swine flu. So this is what I found out:

Drink lots of water
1 lemon a day
garlic is good for you
vitamin C
multi vitamin
apple cider vinegar

Everything is pretty is easy to do except the garlic. I've heard when you cook it, it looses a lot of nutrients. So I decided to make a salsa. Lots of raw veggies with lots of nutrients.

I take a multi-vitamin in the morning and vitamin C supplement at night.
Squeeze a whole lemon in my sweet tea.
Put a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass cran-grape juice (its not too bad).

Do a search and come up with a plan to build your immune system before you get sick!!

I'm not over it yet and I hope I don't get worse, but I definitely feel that taking care of myself before I got sick really helped!!

Did you have a fever? I have a bad cold too but I know it is not the flu.

You know when you have the flu. You do not feel like shopping at Target.:lmao:

Man- sorry to hear about the flu. Really hope you get better ASAP. Can't agree more that building a strong immune system is key to staying healthy. I actually go to a homepathic specialist who works with getting your body at its strongest. Eating organic foods can help a lot!!! Try eating the greenest, freshest dark green veggies you can get your hands on. They have tons of vitamins in them naturally. Your suggestions are good, especially the water and vitamin C. Take care of yourself.

I had a low fever. When I went to doc it was 99.2

I forgot to mention, my mucles ached a littled.

He said day 4 or 5 a lot of people get diarha(sp?) or upset stomach. I had a little upset stomach.

I love Target!! Roll me in on a stretcher!!:worship:

It's hard work eating healthy!! It's so easy just to throw a can of chlli on the stove.:scared1:
There's nothing I love more than cooking a good healthy meal for my family knowing that I'm helping them stay well. It's worth the extra effort.

I need to find a homepathic specialist. I truly believe you can improve your health and avoid a lot of health problems down the road.

I'm so sorry that you are sick because I know how bad that can be.

I have one question though. According to everything I have read doctors cannot determine if you have Swine Flu, or a more common flu unless they send cultures to the lab to determine the exact variety a patient has. According to what I have read so many cultures were showing up at the labs and since they had determined Swine Flu was not as bad as they had first thought that they were discontinuing testing for it. How did your doctor determine it was Swine Flu? Did he send a culture in for testing? I am just curious because what I have read in the news about no longer testing does not jive with the continued reporting of cases.

I'm with you there sister, I can appreciate quick and simple meals. :woohoo:
Try looking for a chiropractor who also does wellness. I happen to find my doctor who is a chiropractor from someone in our church. This guy is fantastic and also works with allergies which can lead to other health problems. He does all kinds of things with nutritional supplements and vitamins.

Hmmm ... I thought that H1N1 was associated with a high fever, not a low one. I would have never guessed that you had it from those symptoms.

I asked him the same thing. He said that the reason he thinks it is swine flu and not regular flu is that swine flu is the only thing going around in our area at the time. He said I could get a nose swab test, send it off and get the results in 5 days all for just $300:scared1:

I think you treat both the same way anyway.

He did say it's not as bad as they are making it out to be.

You do not sound like you have the flu, sorry. My dd is sitting in her dorm room burning up with fever right now.

To make "light" of the flu is baloney on your doctors part.:sad2:

That's what I thought too, but he said I had all the symptoms.
In a way I hope he's wrong because I have a 3, 11, and 16 yr old who are always in my face.
If he's right, I would be glad to get it out of the way before our trip to WDW.

ALL Flu, swine or otherwise, is generally characterized by the "I feel like I got run over by a truck" type of feeling. Not to mention fever. I don't think you have the flu ( or the swine flu) but I'm not a doctor so what do I know? For sure, if you had the flu, you wouldn't be interested in Target, really.

Around here they are swabbing for Type A flu and if you're positive for that, they're saying it's probably swine because that's the only flu running around right now but they're not saying "you have the flu" just by looking at people without swabbing. Haven't yet heard of anybody being charged $$ for it.

Like I said before, I think taking care of yourself before you get sick has a lot to do with how your body reacts.

People with weakened immune systems can die, so it makes since that people with stronger immune systems handle it better, and I think there is a wide spectrum in between. I'm not a doctor but that sounds right, right?

:flower3:Whatever it is, I hope you feel better very soon:goodvibes I know its not fun to have a toddler and be sick when you have to drag yourself to take care of their every need. Take care!

First you need to slap the doctor..:rotfl:

Secondly, I hope you feel better soon - regardless of what it is..:goodvibes

I'm no expert and it' just me talking, but people respond to illness differently just like they respond to treatments differently. In my neck of the woods we had a confirmed case of HINI. An 11 yr. old little girl died with no underlying health concerns. There is talk that it won't be as severe for some, but really bad for others. I don't think anyone knows yet how its all going to play out at this stage of the game.

Swine flu cases vary quite a bit. 30% of people never get any fever. Others get a very high fever. Symptoms that you may have include sore throat, cough, sneezing, headache. Some people get diarrhea and some vomit. You may not have all of the symptoms. Some people just get a mild cold like illness, others feel like a truck just hit them. I hope you feel better soon!

I know people who were diagnosed with the swine flu that didn't have any fever. They also showed the exact symptoms of the OP. The swine flu can hit people in different ways - some mild cases, med. cases, bad cases and extreme cases.

OP I hope you feel better soon!
